The Telja is gorgeous. Congratulations 🎉
Thanks so much Lynn! I stil love my Telja very much 🤗
My first time here and I just love it 💙💚
Oh thank-you so much Maria! 🤗💕
A very enjoyable podcast!
Thank-you very much! 🤗💕
Nikki get yourself an e wheel and join us in spinning!
😂 I may just do that Naomi!
So, thanks to you and Heather of thefourthstarknits, I am just about to cast on my Nightshift Shawl with Noro yarn. I am using Noro's Tsubame which is a DK, not a worsted weight - though I think it's a heavy DK. I was dismayed at the cost of the shawl if I had used the Spincycle yarns and the Noro enables me to make the shawl at a third of the cost of Spincycle. Thank you! Love everything about your podcasts - your FOs, your WIPs, your lovely manner. Such a pleasure to "spend time" with you. And about Jiffy Pop. I remember it well from my childhood - it never popped more than half way and tasted always of burnt, over salted popcorn with a peculiar chemical taste to it. Wish I had known... I could have warned you. :-)
Hi Judith! Thank-you so much for the kind words 💕 Happy to have helped enable you to make the Nightshift 🤗 Isn't it such a fun knit? I'm loving working on mine and watching all the colours "appear". And yes, I hear you on the price front--Noro was a lovely substitute (thanks to Heather for that suggestion).
Thanks for sharing your Jiffy Pop experience with me! It seems the concensus is that Jiffy Pop never really worked the way it was supposed to, so I'm happy to hear we weren't doing anything wrong on our end. It was fun regardless and luckily we had lots of other snacks with us 😂
Thanks for stopping by 💙
I have never done colour work so I am so impressed by all you clever knitters. The cardigan is stunning and the colours 🧶🤩
Hi Zena! Thank-you for the kind words! Colourwork really isn't that hard, it just takes patience (at least on my end). My very first colourwork projects were a hat and matching pair of mittens for my mom. Looking back, I know now that I used the "wrong" colour for the background stitches 😂 But that's how we learn, trial-and-error 😉 Marie Wallin has several smaller colourwork designs that pehaps you might consider trying your hand at? We'd love to have you join in the MAL with us! 🤗💕
@@KnittingWithCatHair I have ordered yarn to try her Georgia Tam 🤭. Wish me luck 🍀😃
Oh that's fantastic!! Please do share on Instagram as I'd love to see your progress!! (And should you wish to join the Instgram group chat, don't hesitate to let me know and I'll get you added). I'm soooo excited for you!! 🤗💕
Gorgeous makes as always! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for spending some time catching up with me Maggie 🤗💕
Lol, Jiffy Pop popcorn- we would get that sometimes when I was a kid, late 60s & 70s; I had no idea it still was around! We did it on the stovetop, and I remember lots of kernels wouldn’t pop & definitely easy to burn if you didn’t keep it constantly in motion. It felt like it took a pretty long time too; but that could have been because I was a child & excited about popcorn! 🍿 I can still remember the smell of it- popcorn, burnt popcorn, tinfoil… Thanks for bringing back those fun memories 😀 Sorry your camping trip was a bit of a mixed bag! Happy belated birthday 🥳
Hi Susan! Thanks so much for stopping by and glad I could help rekindle a childhood memory! 😂 My hope is that, despite the underwhelming experience of the "Jiffy Pop Experiment" it'll be a fun memory for our daughter never-the-less 🤗 Thank-you for the birthday wishes! 💕
Nice podcast! I’m so tempted by your Marie Wallin MAL! I might have to go and have another drool ... I’m particularly taken by her Bloomsbury and the Wildwood collections.
Thank-you for stopping by 😊 I do hope you'll join us! Marie Wallin has soooo many gorgeous collections it's certainly difficult to choose! 🤗💕
That is unfortunate news about GBCo ☹️ have not tried jiffy popcorn. But s’mores with cinnamon bun Oreos was a hit this year!! We glamped and I have to say I can’t imagine car camping again!!
Yumm, we'll have to try that next time! We opted for smores cones (waffle cone filled with alternating layers of mini marshmallows and chocolate chips) which are tasty as well 😊
Nikki!!! Your projects are just gorgeous!! I think I want to make the chestnut cardigan for your KAL!! Just absolutely beautiful!! 😍😍😍
YAY!!!!!! So happy to have you join in the fun Fernanda!! 🥳💕🥳
Your Telja turned out beautiful! 😍 I'm in love with that soft sage green next to the caramel brown. Also a little bit jealous of that British Breeds yarn. Looks gorgeous!
Thanks so much Silje! That green colourway is called "Celery Heather". Not gonna lie, the British Breeds yarn is very lovely and sheepy. But I've yet to try either of the Jamiesons before and plan to use Spindrift (which I just discovered is sold here in Canada) for my next project! 🤗💙
Lovely colourwork you have been working on can't wait to see you weave in all those single row ends on your Marie wallin lol yeah! Jiffy pop? It probably had an expiry date of 2008 haha
Shall we have a competition to see who can weave in their ends first? Your Lettlopi vs. my Marie Wallin 😜
I will win as you will probably wait til they all felt together haha!
Lol...we'll see...I'm actually weaving some ends in as I go 😂
Hey Nikki, nice podcast - and I'm so pleased for you and that gorgeous Telja!! Amazing job, and so great that it's the best fitting yet! That will be so perfect for the cooler and cold days - I love how adaptable Icelandic wool is - by itself for the fall days, and even just a t-shirt under on cold days - the insulation is perfect and seems to regulate itself. Your Jiffy Pop also brought memories back to me - last time I used it was probably over 20 years ago... I think I'll stick to Orville Redenbacher and the stainless steel pot on the stove - save the marshmallows for the fire, lol. Enjoy discovering your new camera!! Back to work in an office setting... grrrr... I agree with you that if I have to work at all, I hands down prefer to work from home - especially being in a position that doesn't require your body to actually be present in an office building or production facility - it saves the environment (the footprint of the workplace and the fossil fuels usually involved in commuting), it also allows you the chance to save time and money in commuting, and if your job is entirely on-line and you can do it by computer, the mandatory return to work orders that will be starting just don't make sense to me... anyway I'll also be addressing that with my own work situation in the next few weeks. Take care, and a pleasure to watch! Judith
Thank-you for the kind words Judith 💕 I can't wait to wear my Telja and am itching to cast on more Jennifer Steingass patterns, but must refrain as I definitely have enough on my needles at the moment 😂
Hahaha, I've been loving hearing all the Jiffy Pop stories from folks! And thankfully it sounds like we didn't do anything wrong on our end, it's just unreliable 😂
Best of luck to you on your "return to work" (or not) plans. 🤗💙
Hi! First time watching your podcasts and I love it! I love your sweater by the way.
Hi Linda 😊 Thank-you for spending some time with me and the kind words 🤗💙
Nikki great podcast as always 😊 I very exiting to join your Marie Wallin MAL but I don’t do colourwork I will do a crochet pattern called Peony from Filigree collection three book.
So lovely to have you join in Sylvia! Can't wait to see your Peony 🤗💕
Beautiful knitting!! I also don’t like the 9” circulars. I really wanted to love them, but I didn’t. I went back to my two circulars and am much happier!! Your color work is so lovely. 😀
Hi Lynn. Thank-you so much for the kind words 💕 I have not tried the 2-circular needle method before, but am going to look into it as another option (seeing as how 9" circs are definitely off the table 😂). 🤗💙
Happy Belated Birthday! Your projects are all so beautiful! I had a similar experience with 9" circulars for sock knitting, they just hurt my hands and wrists too much to continue using them. I went back to DPNs until I discovered the Addi Flexi Flips and I love them! They took some time to get used to, but I feel like it's the best fit for me. I even went out and acquired a few sets of them haha!
I loved seeing your colourwork projects - the colours for the Chestnut Cardigan are so gorgeous! Can't wait to see your progress next time!
Hello and thank-you for stopping by 😊 I will have to look into the Addi Flexi Flips! Thank-you for the kind words and the birthday wishes 🤗💕
These socks are soooo cute, I'm adding them to my list!
The colours on your Nightshift are so lovely! And I know what you mean about the pattern being addictive - I have the Shifty sweater and I just couldn't put it down when knitting it 😁
I used a variegated yarn on the contrasting stripes in Friday Tee by PetitKnit.
And once again thank you so much for the shoutout! 😘
Thank-you for stopping by Magda and for the kind words 🤗 And thank-you as well for the variegated yarn pattern suggestion 💕
Thank you for another great episode 😊 I am an English thrower and use 9” circulars. I find if the yarn is thicker, rustic or if I have a lot of stitches on them then I tend to try to grip those stitches in my right hand and end up cramping up. If I’m using superwash sock yarn with no more than 68 sts then I’m fine 🙅🏼♀️ wierd right!
Hello and thank-you! Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough with using 9" circs to pinpoint the problem, but I had 72 sts on the needles so perhaps that was the issue...Truthfully I'm scared to try knitting with them again after the severe pain I experienced this last time. Thanks very much for taking the time to share your experience with me 🤗💕
I haven't done much in the way of colourwork, but I would think you mostly need to cut the yarn when changing colours because otherwise you would have eight balls of yarn dangling. That would drive me crazy!
Hi. My mother is about to knit me a jumper with Lettlopi wool.
Is it itchy?
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧😉
People have different tolerance levels to wool but I would definitely put Lettlopi at the more rustic/rougher end of the spectrum. I personally love it but you may want to feel it for yourself, if possible, before your mom goes ahead and knits an entire sweater 😊
@@KnittingWithCatHair Thank you. Do you get on ok wearing it? I guess you wear something under it. It’s only really for the colder weather we get here.
I’ve never had a good Jiffy pop experience, at least in the last 20years. I bought it last winter because I thought my kids would find it fun. Burnt to hell
😂 Sounds about right! Thanks for sharing Nicole and happy to know we didn't do anything wrong--The problem CLEARLY lies with Jiffy Pop!
