So way back in the day, my next project after Chrono Trigger was going to be Mega Man the Musical. I'm shelving that for now until I'm a lot more confident in my music composition skills (because I'd like to do more than just write lyrics for it!), but in the meantime, here's a heavily modified version of what would have been the introductory number.

I will be so happy if we someday get Mega Man the Musical, I absolutely love the series, and the musicals you've done so far have been fantastic. I also love the mega man songs you've already done so if this actually happened one day I'd be ecstatic.
Closest thing which currently exists is The Megas. A band which have been around for a while. Quite good.
God I feel like it would just be “shoot lemon haha,” so I feel like it would be crap (in spite of incredible lyrical additions to great songs). Not saying it shouldn’t happen, but I don’t think it would be particularly great.

@@pokkiheart ok then. First of all, I haven’t. Second of all, I guess I will take your word for it. Honestly, I think Rockman (I am American, but I refer to the super fighting robot as it’s official, Japanese name) anything besides the videogames will probably be bad. That’s just because of the context of the game. You move from the left side of the screen to the right (sometimes left and down, and very rarely up) to fight a robot created by an evil scientist who stole the designs from the good guy scientist, and you absorb their power somehow. And also, Rockman doesn’t say anything (if we are talking about the traditional Rockman games). It would be kinda hard to make a full fledged musical off of that. I’m not saying it’s impossible, and that I don’t want it to happen (I don’t want it for myself, but I do want it created), but it’s next to impossible in my book. Although, MOTI will find a way, because that’s his job. To do the next to impossible when it comes to adding lyrics to famous songs from videogames.
@@Angry_Jetpack I think people want covers similar to these made by KazeRyve. Since classic games lack story and interesting characters it should be really hard to make meaningfull covers to them, right? Well, actually not! When you give depth to something that doesn't have depth it most of the time just feels out of place, but Megaman is weird exeption to this rule and robot masters are actually blank slates for interesting characters.
This sounds like the intro song to a Mega Man 2 movie.

We Are The Flames Lighting Up The City. The city itself lights up as if it's rooting for the blue bomber.
I like to view it as the 8 robot masters. The flames burning the city to the ground. The advances in science being used for destruction and terror. A forbidden fruit which lead to great benefits but also to ruin. The new scientific prize is the destruction of megaman and the conquest of the world. The new prototypes being Dr Wily's robot masters.

So something I just realized about the drawn portions of the video is that Napstachill (the artist, for those who don't read the description) had to draw that ENTIRE CITY. The song is great, but I feel like we seriously need to give props to Napstachill for what probably took a very long time to draw.
That was incredible! Mega Man 2's intro is one of the best song in the series, and you've just made it even better.

"With the power to adapt, and a blaster for a hand, I am the super fighting robot, I am Mega Man!" In one verse, you've perfectly summarized who Rock is.
1:14 - 1:49 perfectly establishes his world, too: Feverent study of science resulted in the breakthrough that was Proto Man and later the Robot Masters, which stood as symbols of a new future civilization to inspire _more_ technology.
As if that wasn't enough, they go over from 1:49 - 2:00 about why Rock fights: Wily's used the tech for evil, so Light's sent Mega Man out to prevent war.
"We reap the seeds we've sown, what we've designed!" I love the irony there. In shared ambition, Light invented perfect war machines for Wily to use, and Wily's genius led to the making of Proto and Mega Man, who oppose him greatly, to say the least. Didn't Wily invent that one gear system Mega weaponized lately?
And then there's the people's general outlook on "more tech equals better life" being turned upside-down.
"So astonishing, the promises they bring, for all mankind!" Of course, this is Mega Man, who fights for world peace for all robots and humans, so it's only fitting to see his optimism focus on the good he can bring to the table of technological terrors.
Edit: Just realized from 2:49 to 3:00 that Rock is singing in pitch and rhythm of Wily Castle's theme from this game's finale. Nice touch. It's especially apparent at the start and end of both phrases.

This fit much more than I expected! Aid or not, you had a believable voice (that didn't sound ridiculous) for the main character, a narrator that fit the tone, and a chorus that the newer games would almost use! Question: With all your passion for the series, why is this intro being done now? The desc helps it make some sense, but you have so many out already..

Thanks for this song. It was epic and wonderful. The power to adapt, "I AM MEGAMAN", the science and progress reference... everything is so Mega fantastic.I hope for more megaman stuff. For exemple, "X vs Zero" from Megaman X series, or "Dr. Wily stage" from Megaman 2.

One thing I'd like to point out... Prodigal doesn't mean what you think it means. Prodigal means wastefully extravagant. The reason "Prodigal Son" is a term isn't because the son was a prodigy, it was because the son burned away his inheritance in luxury until he was left with nothing. If you want the adjective that describes a prodigy, it'd be "prodigious." Obviously, you're not gonna rerecord everything to fix that, nor would I ever ask you to. I know how much work goes into the audio editing for this stuff. Just a case of learning something new every day~
I'm curious how you would do the story. The comics did a fantastic job in my opinion, but they also made at least one big change from the games by having Megaman being captured and reprogrammed, requiring rescue from "The Light Brigade" (Megaman 1 robot masters). I would love that arc as a musical, but yeah, it would be different than the games.
Well, in the CT musical videos, they combined both the choices of spare/kill Magus seamlessly, not to mention editing it so as if the entire party fought Lavos at once. If anyone can make that work, it's Alex and the MOTI crew!

As awesome as this song is (and it is awesome btw, props to everyone involved), the thing that gets me most excited is that line in the description about "more than just write lyrics". Knowing the talent that you and the MOTI crew have, I am sure that when you choose to pursue that project it will be amazing.

When I suggested this song for the Song Ballot, I meant the version from Smash, since it's my favourite version. What you've done here is still pretty good, but I still would've wanted the Dr. Wily Castle theme included with it, especially since the cover Juno did didn't click with me. Eventually doing "Mega Man The Musical" or even a Mega Man musical bytes would also be great, but I feel like that's asking for too much.
Edit: I just listened to the song again and there was one part that did sound like it was sung to the tune of the Dr. Wily Castle theme, so that made me feel a little better.

Awesome as always! Although, I really hope if Man On The Internet does more Mega Man music they end up doing more than just Mega Man 2. Part 3, 5, and 8 all have some truly great songs that were practically made to have lyrics.
I hope we get a full Mega Man the musical, not just that but ALL of the Mega Man games, and the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero series as well, those would be AWESOME! I am a huge Mega Man fan I just love the games so much!
