  • It's time to get stuck in and re-wire Lady Emma. With intermittent faults, under sized wiring and circuit breakers in the wrong side of the circuit, this is a job that I really need to get done. I explain what the problems are and how to fix them.
Join us as we venture offroad, chasing landscapes painted with rich sunset colours and some beautiful swimming holes.
Get out there and travel Australia, it's amazing.

Thanks Baz for putting your progress up on youtube, I have not long redone my wireing in my Farr 6000, I regett not useing marine grade wire, but living in land it is very hard to get, the wiring done by the previous owner was where the bulge pump would go, so even the small amount of rain or a few good weaves , the whole power box would be under water. In the few years his wiring had also turned black and wont solder and turned brittle. You have not posted any sailing vidos, I guess a bit cold down your way, I am looking forward to your metting up with Chris. Hope you have a great sail, and have time to do a vido.

Thanks James, sounds like your wiring was in definite need of replacement. A like for thought in wire and switchboard placement goes a long way. We haven't been keen on winter sailing but now as weather improves we will have lots of new sailing video's. Happy sailing.

It is often easier to pull it all out and start with a blank canvas.

Agreed. That way you can be sure it's done right with no niggling issues too.

Doing that to my boat. Made sure i setup the solar and bilge directly to the battery so I can work on the whole system without interrupting the vital circuits

Thanks for that. I'm currently making many improvements to my Sunmaid 20, and wiring is one of them. I threw the old stuff away. I am trying to do it with 95% of the wiring out of sight, even in the locker space. I'd rather have no electrics, but they're just too convenient, especially with the option of Solar. Anyway I'm keeping it minimal and 12V only. As usual I've bitten off more than I can chew, but as my family expect to be sailing again by Christmas, I'll just have to manage it, won't I? I look forward to watching the video of your trip with Chris Joseph. He has a Sunmaid 20 also, I believe? I am recording the work I'm doing with the intention of starting a RUclips channel next year with the footage. That's the intention! Cheers.

That's great if my video has helped you with your re-wire. It doesn't have to be too complicated. Chris does have a Sunmaid too. Good luck with getting your channel up and running. Let me know when you start posting. I love seeing peoples trailer sailer renovations.
