  • I recently began testosterone Hormone Replacement Therapy [HRT] by informed consent in Arizona and want to share the process. I go to Dr. Ochoa at El Rio Health Center. It took about a month from when I made my first appointment to when I got my first dose of testosterone. Find out what the doctor asked me and had me do before prescribing me hormones.

sorry if this is too personal of a question, but my first meeting is on the 30th and I was wondering if you had previously been going to a therapist for gender related reasons, since you were able to get it about a month after the first appointment. Ive heard you have to go to one for 6 months and another for any amount of time to get two referrals, or could that have to do with the age range of minor and adult? Also congrats on almost 1 year on T!!

How in depth are the physical exams for the prep of testosterone? Other than the blood tests

I'm worried about my blood draw but I know I'll get through it. I just have a tendency to concentrate on the actual needle pulling blood and the feeling is beyond unpleasant 😅

How many days or weeks did it take for your blood results to come back?

Did you talk with insurance before your appointment or how did that go?

I'm turning 18 in 9 months, I'm not out, I don't have a job or health insurance....everything just feels so far out of reach.
