    A relentless and historic downpour of rainfall hit Hong Kong on Friday, bringing widespread flash floods, transportation chaos, and urgent safety concerns. This led authorities to issue the highest "black" rainstorm warning for the first time in two years. The deluge began late Thursday night, as torrential rains pounded the densely populated city of Hong Kong, submerging metro stations and trapping drivers on flooded roads.
    The channel lists such natural disasters as:
    1) Geological emergencies: Earthquake, Volcanic eruption, Mud, Landslide, Avalanche;
    2) Hydrological emergencies: Flood, Tsunami, Limnological disaster,
    3) Fires: Forest fire, Peat fire;
    4) Meteorological emergencies: Tornado, Cyclone, Blizzard, Hail, Drought, Tornado, Hail, Hurricane, Tsunami, Storm, Thunderstorm, Tempest.

    No structures, walls or even big signboards collapsed unlike in an earthquake. No one drowned. High rises are great in a major deluge...just move upstairs. Water can cause damage but lives can be saved. Next time...stop driving. If caught, abandon the vehicles...lives is more important. Assets can be repaired, replaced. Lives cannot be replaced.

    This is the result of two typhoons hitting Hong Kong consecutively, which is a very rare and unfortunate natural occurrence during the annual typhoon season, with Shenzhen releasing the dams with little warning to Hong Kong as a cherry on top, flooding the northern border area of Hong Kong even worse.

    • @beatricewan9958
      @beatricewan9958 10 месяцев назад

      In fact, Shenzhen did give the warning to Hong Kong ahead and the flooding in Hong Kong had nothing to do with Shenzhen.
      Most of the flooding occurred in downtown; suburban areas and countryside were not that affected.

    • @macp5527
      @macp5527 10 месяцев назад

      @@beatricewan9958 Read my post again if English is not your first language. Shenzhen gave little warning to Hong Kong, in fact, a 16 minute warning according to various news reports, before releasing the dam. Many areas, including urban, and the northern border areas which is well known to be susceptible by heavy rainfall, had serious flooding. The fact that Shenzhen gave such a short notice worsen the flooding situation around the northern border areas, endangering the locals who live in village houses. Lots of fireman and fire engines rushed to the northern border area to commit rescue. This shows how inconsiderate and indifferent Shenzhen regards the livelihood of Hong Kong locals.

      What do you expect the authorities to do when a dam has reached the limit of how much water it can hold? The water is released into the river nearby and that is nowhere near H.K. There is sea between Shenzen and H.K. New territories.

    • @macp5527
      @macp5527 10 месяцев назад +5

      @@teflerchina.2987 Sea? Are you joking or trolling? It is a river separating Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Surely you should do better to earn your 5c using VPN or other illegal software to access YT which is banned in China. And with weather forecast and the nonstop raining for hours prior, are you instigating that Meteorological Bureau of Shenzhen is so inapt to estimate how long it will take for the dam to be full? There is also an agreement between Hong Kong and Shenzhen such that Shenzhen has to give a 3-hour warning to Hong Kong prior to releasing the dam, not 16-minute warning. If the dam release is "nowhere near" Hong Kong as you claimed, why have such agreement in the first place?

    • @teflerchina.2987
      @teflerchina.2987 10 месяцев назад

      @@macp5527
      You are correct about the river.
      You are not correct about the use of a VPN in China. They are not illegal to use but illegal to buy on the mainland. Who says I am in China at the moment anyway. I used to teach there hence the tefler part of my user name.
      The river separates H.K from the mainland and is near the New territories.
      As for the dam being full. The authorities know how much water it can hold and take measures to prevent any damage or overflow.
      The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) said from Thursday night more than 70 mm of rainfall were recorded in most parts of Hong Kong and even over 200 mm were recorded in Kowloon, the northeastern part of the New Territories and Hong Kong Island. The Observatory Headquarters recorded hourly rainfall of 158.1 mm between 11 pm local time (1500 GMT) and midnight, which was the highest record since 1884.
      In response to water discharge from Shenzhen Reservoir at midnight, the North District Office specially arranged vehicles before midnight to pick up villagers from six villages that may be affected by flooding to temporary shelters.The water release would start at 80 cubic metres per second, which was considered relatively small, he said, to limit the impact on downstream areas. Residents who live along the river were advised to evacuate.
      Neighbouring Hong Kong also received a notice from Shenzhen that warned of possible flooding in the New Territories.
      Around 3.15am, the reservoir release was adjusted to 120 cubic metres per second. Note the 3.15 AM. That is more than 3 hours.
      How would the release of water from the dam affect H.K island and Kowloon?

    الله هو الإله الله هو رب الناس أجمعين ، ورب موسى وعيسى و سليمان و ايوب ويونس و هارون و داوود و يحي وزكريا و مريم العذراء الطاهره
    ورب محمد صل الله عليه وسلم الذي أنزل عليه القرآن كتاب الله الذي يهدي للحق و لطريق مستقيم
    القرآن و كل الكتب السماويه يدعون الرحمه والرافه و حقن الدماء و بسط العدل والمساواة بين كل الأجناس والأعراق والشعوب دون إستثناء ودون إقصاء دون تمييز
