Goods tips. Since moving into an apartment years ago my playing dropped off for the very reason of not wanting to disturb my neighbors. I've since picked up an electric which isn't a problem, but I'd love to play my acoustic more often. I think I'll try stuffing an old shirt inside and see how it sounds. The one thing I'd hate is to lose the really nice tones.
Another informative video. Really enjoyed talking string gauges - not for noise level but for my wimpy electric guitar fingers, LoL. I use my Simon & Patrick Parlor later at night. I will also use a felt pick, from time to time, not only for a quieter strum but it changes the sound/feel which is fun. Thanks, Megan.
Classical guitar is the only way to fly. The sound is mellower and nylon strings don’t murder your hands like steel. You can even use a pick. Pick guards are unnecessary and mainly for looks.
@@nedludd3641 You wouldn’t need special strings. Just get some nylon strings and try them. Classical guitars have a wider neck, though, which I much prefer. You can find good classical guitars for cheap.
@@vprice509 Funny you should say that. I bought a classical guitar last week for £20 in a charity shop. Trouble is, it won't stay in tune. Can't work out if that's the tuner pegs or stretching strings? I suspect I will need to replace the tuner pegs
I live in a single family house & my man cave but I have good acoustic panels all over. I use the strings 12-? but I have a Martin HD-28 and Martins are louder than others. But I would gladly accept a T-shirt or some undies from you to put in the sound hole of my Martin ;-)
That was actually quite useful. I gotta get a suppressor.
Wonder how many pairs of Y-fronts you can stuff in a dreadnought? There ought to be a competition.

Felt pic is a great suggestion too they definitely have a certain sound but can really help bring down the volume! 😀🤘
Dungeries have never looked so good
Good video, helpful tips.
Wot about nylon strings? Maybe use a Line 6 Pod Go with an electric + headphones? I like noodling on the sofa with a GS Mini.
does anyone make nylon strings for steel string guitars? - would nylon be quieter?
@@nedludd3641 good question 😮

As an electric guitarist I have never thought of acoustics as loud. But I guess if you’re going full out maybe you can make them noisy
Some acoustics (solid woods) can really project so depending on the situation you may need to muffle it a bit.
From Pakistan your fan❤
Yamaha Silent Guitar is the answer!
A great suggestion! Headphones can be worn and the guitar itself is such low volume, a perfect work around 👌
Its all articulation. I can Play accoustic im bedroom next to my sleeping kid without wakining him up...
The easiest way is to use a very light nylon pick.
or you can buy Yamaha Silent Guitar
