There are plenty of CERTIFIED teachers who still have no idea what they are doing. A true teacher is not just a piece of paper.
Passion, dedication, confidence, nurture, giver, communicator, personal power, patience, love....
A LOT of CERTIFIED teachers lack these very important ingredients.
That is one of the reasons a ParaProfessional is often needed in many classrooms.
Respect every position at a school because any of them can be your child's angel. Children don't share everything with their parents.

This is so relevant, my daughter is in 2nd grade and the way her school is teaching is super hard to grasp even for me. I try to teacher the way I learned but she’s like “we can’t do it that way.” The school system is so messed up right now and in need of a total revamp.

I love all of the different view points here. One thing I will say, that technique of getting their attention if they didn't already know the song!! Parents gotta be accountable for their role! And I'm saying this as a mom. Now, is it acceptable for the classroom? I still don't agree but I also understand where they're coming from.
And I am a firm believer that along with parent issues, the public school system in this country is being purposefully destroyed. There is no excuse for the low pay, lack of supplies, and lack of resources to truly, actually EDUCATE the children. Bless these teachers....smh....🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️😔😔😔🤬🤬🤬

Former educator: Judge Judy taught me you know kids are lying when their mouths are moving. It’s scary how parents get rah rah over lies before asking questions. Parents really give superpowers to their child’s bad behavior with the “can’t nobody say nothing to my child attitude”. By 2030 children will be getting homeschooled with this teacher shortage and you guys will see the monsters you created.

I can't imagine how difficult it is to be a teacher. But, it's definitely true that not all teachers are likeable. The only time my mother went in on a teacher was when that teacher accused me of stealing fundraising money. I absolutely did not. I never did another fundraiser thing after that.

Let’s talk about when you discuss concerns with the teacher and counselor about your concerns there behind and having trouble with understanding the school work and not comprehending what they are learning. And because of your concern you like to hold your child back, they tell you can’t hold your child back. It’s up to the school if your child gets held back.

It takes a village to raise kids. Following been going on since the beginning of time. Who listens to their parents when social media is doing something different n they have a choice to pick? We’re all responsible for the generation. Hard working parents only have so much time in a day to raise kids. Social media is with kids 24/7 access.

Thank you for this! I decided at a very early age that I never wanted to be a teacher for the reasons that were brought up here. I noticed that I had stressed out teachers since 2nd grade. By middle school I only had to deal with a stressed out teacher (or 2, or 3 teachers) until class change. After college I was a Substitute because it was a guaranteed job and it was a reminder why I never wanted to be a teacher. Thankfully I was done with subbing years before Covina.

We didn't need that or any attention getter. The teacher said, "Everyone quiet down" and that was that. I am older than everyone on stage and was online in 1995, but it didn't impact my ability to learn. No one was having these conversations despite us listening to Uncle Luke. Every class and child is different.

So much good stuff in this. But i wish parents stop blaming teachers and teachers stop JUST blaming parents. The system is fcked. 2020 everyone passed and every since then. The school system is literally about employment skills not creating intellectual independent thinkers. The department of education website literally says it's about them learning to be able to enter the work field. This country's priorities is trash.

I am very disappointed in Kita. During the pandemic, everyone essentially had a year to stay at home. What did you do with that time? If you as a parent cannot impart basics scholastic knowledge onto your children, then why would you expect a teacher who is only with your child a maximum of 2 hours a day to do so? She does a lot of blaming the pandemic for a lack of education in the children. The problem is failures as parents, parents who do not actually like their children, and parents who are swayed by social brownie points to not discipline their children. It was very refreshing to hear that man shut the nonsense down immediately as it left her mouth. If your child is in the 5th grade, and does not have a learning disability of any kind, and cannot read, you do not love your child.

WOOOO THESE ADULTS SASSY AF AREN’T THEY?
There is a huge lack of accountability on behalf of the educators here. Seems like everyone is the problem except them 🙃
As a former high school teacher - yes, our students are heavily influenced by social media. Yes, many of our students come from homes that normalize dysfunctional/toxic behaviors.
But the moment that YOU as an educator normalize explicit lyrics and questionable celebrities in your classroom, you are doing a disservice to the students who are trying to learn the difference between right and wrong. The consensus at the table was that because students are already “messed up” or exposed to this kind of language/behavior/music that we might as well use it to “connect” with them.
If 90% of your students have succumbed to negative influences… do we overlook the 10 or even 5% that are actually trying to do right, that are yearning for a positive role model, or actually have parents who are invested in their personal and scholastic development?
Yes, there are A LOT of problems with the education system. There are many challenges for EVERYONE - educators and families alike.
Why be a part of the problem? Why are you staying at a job that you are literally complaining about the families you serve and you’re not getting paid enough to “show up on time”?
Educators are INFLUENCED too - and it’s evident here in the need to “be down” with 10 year olds and remain viral on TikTok.
When you sign up to be a teacher, you sign up to be a role model. Point blank.
If you don’t get paid enough to live your life righteously to pass the torch to the next generation of life that is trying to navigate this wicked world - go work at a bank, a call center, a hospital - go do something else.
Stop talking about “the problem” if you’re not willing to disconnect from the herd of sheep and be a solution through and through! Stop making excuses for your own immaturity.
You’re the adult in the room. Education goes beyond math and reading. It’s character too.

@@Animefreak242 You do know that those aren't big words right? You're trying to show the Internet that you have ejumakashun? These children are relegated to knowing what color their booty hole is and being mislead into thinking they can morph into another gender while Ms. Marva Collins would be shaking her head to see that she was able to teach her students, who were previously in special education classes, Japanese and other forms of HIGHER LEARNING with the entire city trying to undermine her efforts. And these "educators" can't get their students'attention?
Black parents? They give us these rump shakers becoming teachers in order to pay for "Happy Hours" or racists harassing our babies so they'll drop out in this "school to prison" pipeline. Y'all better take the reigns, get off your phones, and educate your children before you find them behind bars, on the pole, or unalived. I'm sure they don't even have children and leading other people's children down the wrong path. Brown VS The Board Of Education down the drain.
