    Excellent video! I had NO idea I could do a data-merge in LB! I stumbled across one of your other videos and started poking further into the tutorials. Love it! Thanks!🙂

    Very good - saved a lot of head scratching. Really have to pay attention to the cursor shape as it gives you important clues as to what is happening. Thanks again.

      @@milaserguy is there a way to join the end of one line into the middle of another line and make them into a single object it seems the only work when I do end-to-end. I can always group the two objects, but I wanted to make them a single entity

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  Год назад

      @@toddnester5743 because of the nature of vector shapes, this can only be done with a group unless you want an overlapping line segment to get from the end back to the mid point.

    Thank you for the video. I've been struggling with this issue for a week. I have been making window panes and doors and adding clipart. The laser would cut a window and would cut the clipart in the process. By doing a convert to path, adding two node points between the clipart I can delete the cut line before it gets to the clipart. 😀

    Good to know how to work on the nodes. Don't we need to group them after we fix the nodes to work with lasers? Thanks.

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  Год назад

      Not sure exactly what you mean. Depending on what you are trying to do, node editing may create single shapes or multiple shapes, so it may be desirable to group them in some cases.

      @@milaserguy I am learning laser design. I thought all the nods should be connected to engrave or the laser to travel the path. In your example you have 3 different broken paths and I don't know how it will engrave. I believe you just covered only how the path will work, and your covered very well. Thanks again.

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  Год назад

      Ok, I think I get what you are asking.. If you are doing a "fill", then yes, you need a closed shape. If you are engraving a line, no such requirement exists.

    Is there a way of setting the absolute location of a node or moving it in the x and y direction by a specific increment? I'm scanning old model aeroplane plans and for example the rib needs a slot for a 1/4 inch spar. The scan shows the slot at 0.225" so I want to move the node by 0.025" to correct the clearance - thanks

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  11 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately, there isn't a way to enter a new position for individual nodes (currently). What I usually do is have my settings configured for some standard increment sizes that I use. I use metric, but in the settings panel, I use "Shape Move Increments" where CTRL-Arrow is 1mm, Arrow is 5mm, and Shift-Arrow is 0.005mm. If I am working on a job where I need to make a lot of changes for the same increment, I will just pop into those settings and change the arrow increment to make it easy. Then, you can select the node (or multiple nodes) and hit the arrow keys to move them that increment.

    Excellent video, I'm having troubles connecting nodes of 2 separated lines or shapes, it's there a reason or procedure that I'm missing, this happens with some lines maybe are different types I'm really breaking my head to solve this but I still don't get it, thank you in advanced for the help

      What version are you on? Some nodes can be a little finicky but I think they improved the connections in 1.4.x. If you you would like to email the file to me at jim @ milaserguy.com and put a big circle around the nodes that aren't connecting, I can take a look and tell you why.

    Great video - best one I’ve seen on node editing so far! I would love to see a video on connecting individual line segments to a shape. I have really been struggling with this because sometimes the auto-join path works and sometime it doesn’t. for example, let’s say you have a closed shape and you want to add a line going across part of that closed shape in between two nodes, and you want it to be all part of the same shape, how do you do this?

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  Год назад

      Not sure I entirely understand. A shape in lightburn has a start and end, with no branches. It is a path, thus, it cannot have an intersection that splits as you describe, however, you could have 2 shapes that are grouped together and would move/resize, etc. as one.

      Thanks for the feedback. I set my intervals for arrow movements to 1mm so I can select nodes and move them exactly 1mm at a time, but there is a couple of other ways to accomplish this also.

    oooo... super nice.. orizontal or vertical alignament with 2 click !!!! the best !!!
    one more question: If an object has 4 nodes or 500 nodes on it, does the engraving or cutting time differ for the same object? Is the time significantly shorter for 4 nodes compared to 500 nodes? Now that I've seen this video, I'll give it a try myself... but I thought I'd ask, in case someone else sees this question. Thank you very much.

    • @milaserguy
      @milaserguy  Год назад

      I don't believe it makes a large difference. The vector is optimized to gcode behind the scenes anyways, which is only defined by the smallest increment the laser can move, which is quite small.
