    Such great content! It’s a nice blend of data, humor, and concise, well-supported points. Great editing as well! I’ve been thinking about getting a dog but I wasn’t sure what it would be like in an apartment in the city. Thanks for the great overview!

    Husband and I are moving to NY soon with our 2 big dogs. We have to move there for work, but I’m scared because it doesn’t look like there’s many places for pups to go potty. I don’t see a lot of grass anywhere compared to California . 😭 when it doesn’t come to the park.

    • @AnnaStralian
      @AnnaStralian  3 года назад

      I felt the exact same way! Green (dog potty friendly🙄) spaces are definitely limited here, especially if you’re looking in Manhattan. You probably will have to train them to go in the curb for when it’s urgent 😬 That being said though, some neighborhoods are great for dogs! It can often even just depend on the specific street you live on (google maps street view was my life saver lol). For Manhattan, I’d recommend the UES and UWS. The streets tend to be wider with more spots for them to go, there are a lot of parks, and a few dog runs throughout both (I particularly love Carl Schurz Park) so chances are there’ll be somewhere near your apt that you could take them quickly. On the whole though, I’d say the further out you go, especially in Brooklyn, the more space there is and therefore the more grass patches for dogs to relieve themselves. Hope that helps a little more 🤷🏼‍♀️😅
      P.s if those are your pups in your pic, they’re adorable!! 😍

      @@AnnaStralian thank you so much for your suggestions! I think Brooklyn might just be our spot. It will definitely take a lot of adjusting to do still. Especially when it snows! My pups are California girls so they never seen snow before lol (yes these are my pups in profile pic🙃 IG: annabelleleeiv) Love your video/ information of dog mom life I’m NY. It was so helpful, you need to make more please 💕

      @@abe8613 aww I’m sure they’re going to love the snow! Sam gets soo excited every time it snows now! The biggest adjustment we had to make was getting him to wear booties 😅(the salt on the footpaths can hurt their paws). And Brooklyn’s a great choice! We used to live near Fort Greene Park and loved taking Sam there during the off-leash hours (most of the bigger city parks have off-leash hours for dogs - typically 9pm-9am). I’d also definitely recommend Prospect Park as it has a dog beach! ...It’s more of a pond than a beach, but if you’re worried about them missing the Cali beaches, it might help! Haha I think I’ll have to make more NYC dog mom videos... I could talk on this topic endlessly 🙈😂
      GOOD LUCK with the move! 💕

      Hi, thanks so much for your comment! I took a little break from RUclips, but I’ve wanted to do a video about moving for awhile, so keep an eye out 😉 haha. Good luck with your move in September! It was a stressful planning process for us, but well worth it and a beautiful drive! ☺️

    So like where did you take ur dog out to pee? Did you go to a nearby tree or did you take him all the way to the closest park?

    • @AnnaStralian
      @AnnaStralian  3 года назад +4

      Hi, thanks for commenting! :) I’m lucky with where I live in NY at the moment. There are bark patches without trees on my street where he goes, and the park is only a 10 minute walk away. I would definitely advise dog owners who are comparing apartments to rent here to check where their dog could go on the street, because every street is different and it can make a big difference to your daily routine. If you are thinking of moving to NYC though, keep in mind that the city law is that owners “curb their dog” meaning you may need to retrain your dog to go in the curb when/if necessary.

      @@AnnaStralian Ok thank you. Im used to living in houses with huge yards, so I was wondering how people have dogs in apartments.
