We use them at work for locating water valves. $1,000 USD but dosen't work good with locating relics or coins.
Ours collapses though.

Was going to buy one, I think this just put me off
is this only a ferous detector (i.e. magnetic field registering metals) or is it a magnetometer?
If it's a magnetometer, it doesn't actually detect the 'magnetic field' of the metallic object you're looking for rather it's detecting the metallic objects interference of the earth's background magnetic core.
If it's the former, I'm not sure how well it'll work in a field if you've a lot of ferous scrap about. 🤔
