- Witness the transforming effects of Wax Pastels!!
They are literally like brilliant coloring crayons for artists, and they offer a vibrant, dynamic option for creative expression. Even more exciting is combining them with soft pastels for some truly stunning and colorful results. In today's tutorial, we're diving deep into the world of water-soluble wax pastels and soft pastels, exploring how these two mediums can work together to create magical results.
Here are some of the benefits of Neocolor 2 Wax Pastels:
🎨 Joy of Creation: Often we need product that inspires play and creativity. That is definitely the case with these wax pastels.
🎨 Vibrant Reactions with Water: The magic truly happens when you add water to these wax pastels. Color seems to burst into bloom with water or alcohol.
🎨 Unlimited Layering Abilities: Using these as an underpainting doesn't sacrifice any layering ability when you apply soft pastels.
As always, you do not have to have this product to follow along. There are plenty of other mediums that can be used in place of the Neocolor 2 Wax Pastels, such as, watercolor, acrylic ink, gouache and more.

❤🎉⚘️beautiful painting. Love the orange and yellow flower's against the green blue folliage background.
Thank you so much 😊 You are always so sweet Yogi!
The Caran Dach neocolor 2 are a lot of fun. And they're lightfast and less granular looking than the inktense blocks. They are luxurious, and priced accordingly! 😅 If you want a similar effect and you have watercolors, you could achieve it by first putting down watercolor, letting it dry, and then putting down darker shades of watercolor for gestural lines and shapes, letting that dry, and then moving on to soft pastels.
Good advice. Thank you.
Thanks for that input, @michellef1847! I'll have to keep that in mind!
always good to see more use of neocolors!
More to come! I really love them!
@@monetcafethat’s great news. Have you done any more videos with them? After a lot of research I purchased some with my Christmas money and am so thrilled that you’ve released this video that uses them. I am looking forward to them arriving. Thank you for your superb content
Gorgeous!
This is inspiring me to pull out my neocolors and start creating with them again. God bless you!
I've had Neocolor IIs for so long and didn't use them for a long time, you've got me appreciating them :)
It was very surprising how a little bit of that blue really took over and dominated the pinks underneath!
Thanks for the closeup at the end, that was very informative!
There are many cheaper options out there. However, there are some real advantages to the Caran D’Ache pastels. One is that you can buy them individually at Blick. The other is these are far more pigmented than many other items. For a couple of reasons, one might prefer the Derwent Inktense blocks, especially since once activated with water and dried, the Derwents won’t lift with water.
Sweet workshop❤ Thank you😊
Thank you so much, @chantalrochon3566! I'm so glad you liked it! Happy Painting!

Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for the tutorial, Susan. I'm not sure if you are aware of the sad news, but Terry Ludwig (founder of Terry Ludwig Pastels) passed away on February 20 at the age of 82. He was a practicing Christian with a strong faith in Jesus Christ. In addition to creating his pastel manufacturing company, he also came up with the brilliant idea of using pipe foam insulation for blending soft pastels.
Love this!
Love it!
Thank you so much, @vickimcgalliard8670! I'm so glad you liked it! Happy Painting!
Love your vibrant colors ❤️ beautiful 🎉. Truly inspiring! Now I want the neocolor II. I actually have the Lyras, and I like them a lot. Have you tried the Lyras?
Очень красивая легкая зарисовка❤🎉🎉
Does it matter the strength of alcohol
🙂 🙂 🙂 ❤, @innergirlart great question. It does not. :)
Hi, very beautiful Painting 😊! Do you like Pan Pastels? I use them with pastel pencils and I think they are fantastic! Bye, Silvia
Yes I love Pan pastels but often forget to use them. I’m planning on using them for a tutorial this month.
@@monetcafe 😊
Nice! Very Monet-ish. 😀
Thank you so much, @45067daddymac! Your comment blessed me.
I have a 12 set of Staedtler wax pastels water soluble, but they aren’t anywhere close to the quality of these.
Thanks Connie. That's some good information.
The complementary colours of blue is orange complementary colour have the 2 primary colours that they don't have eg red and green yellow and purple blue and orange
Yes, I guess if you are going literally across the color wheel. I sometimes get a little general. thanks for your input.
There's more than one color wheel. Check out the Munsell system and the YURMBY wheel, both are different from the one you may be used to.
Color theory is a theory, not an exact science.
$65??? You don't need this.
Use oil pastels with Turpenoid or paint thinner. 😊
Interesting…. I’ll have to try that. Thanks.
