I keep going back to this video for years. No classical piece was ever performed with more love and passion. Classical music doesn't always have to be dead serious, solemn, boring, but it has to be passionate. These kids are a proof: BRAVO for them and maestro Dudamel!
I agree. No piece of symphonic music has brought me more joy & pleasure than have these wonderful children playing with such skill, love, & passion. Marquez deserves more recognition & Dudamel for his work with this orchestra & his passion for bringing Latin orchestral music to more ears.
Thanks God for giving us music, these young talents, Dudamel, and El Sistema!!!!!! What emotions to listen and see these young beautiful human beings!!
The liveliest and most joyful interpretation of this masterpiece ... only if you teach, you can fully understand when your pupils thank you with their eyes, as these boys and girls do with Dudamel in this execution !!! And when in the final part, they stand on their feet, you would ardently be there, to play with them !!!
I first heard Danzon No.2 performed at SF Symphony and liked it, but it wasn't until I experienced this performance that I realized: SIMON BOLIVAR YO AND DUDAMEL OWN THIS PIECE!!! Nobody else should ever attempt to play it, because it would not match this love and passion! Please come back to SF Bay Area and this time PLEASE include Danzon No.2 in your repertoire! Bravoooooo!
@@paulinaobriggs8158 I knew that, it was on the playbill. I said it was performed by SF Symphony under MTT, and it was pale in comparison. Luckilly, I found this interpretation same night on YT because I loved the piece...
I can't even say how many times I have watched this video. No other classical music performance can come close! I have shared it at least every year... And more.
One day Venezuela will get a leader with as much skill and grace as Dudamel has as a conductor, and when they do, and start to rebuild that Great nation, I hope they look back on this masterpiece of youth and skill exuberance as the inspiration. This video has given me goosebumps for years, and I've never heard a recording of this piece that can hold a candle to this one.
Gracias!
THANK YOU!--this is what you do with troubled young people, you take them off the street and teach them to make music. You can see it in their faces , they've found the answer. Dudamel is a genius!
They just don't the piece of music, but the enthusiasm and passion and soul that they put in their performance. OMG Gustavo Dumandel what a magnificent performance and watching him conduct!!
Just a note. As you can see the whole orchestra are very young (teenagers). This is because this is the Teresa Carreño's Young Symphony Orchestra. This performance was recorded during the TED Prize received for Maestro Abreu. The SBSOV is not a "young" orchestra anymore (the age range is around the 24 years old).

Genus. Love it and more so that in other videos of the same song Danzon No 2 by the same orchestra different kids have the opportunity to play the solo instruments. All these young men and women are so talented. Bravo Dudamel and SBYO.
There is no more extraordinary and dynamic version of this gem of Marquez than this!

Thank you so much for re-upload! The reason for the other not working is because I've played it so many times and probably wore it out!!! These kids are something else - I'd love to see them live!
Which orchestra is this, it's not Simon Bolivar? Either way it's a beautifully inspired performance of Danzon II of Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, by great maestro Gustavo Dudamel! El Sistema!! ✌☆♡✌☆
It is thanks to Hugo Chavez that Mr. Abreu and Mr. Dudamel have been able to bring all this beauty to the world. And there will be more coming from all Latin America. By the way, the composer of this Danzon No. 2 is Mr. Arturo Marquez, mexican. He composed it as a tribute to the Zapatista struggle in Chiapas
From minute 4:20 to 5:34 It's just amazing, all the piece it's beautiful but that specific part for me it's incredible starting form the single violin and then all of them joining together. That's music.
Result of the big project that the late president Chávez put in practice, that gave access to thousands of teens to study and play the classics and the Folklore. Im from Brasil, and I applaud this impressive talent! Sorry for my bad English, but Art is universal!
This is not a project that was put in place by Chavez. This project, called "El Sistema," or "The System," had been put in place by Jose Antonio Abreu in 1975. Perhaps you are thinking of another project, this one indeed created by Chavez, which today is known as "How to Fuck Up a Country in Less Than 15 Years"

@@PinacoladaMatthew , or orchestral. It’s great music that deserves more attention in symphony halls.
gush much?
This was written in the 1990s ... learn about the musical eras before calling everything with an orchestra "classical"
I was there 😁 One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I even got one of their jackets after! Amazing!
You mean the Venezuelan flag jackets ?
@@Teach.Experience.Dance-Vickye just said he got one of the jackets they were wearing, so i would guess you are correct
Danzon no 2 "with sound?"....Well I fuckin hope so!!!
The earlier upload had the sound removed. ;)
One of the greatest performances I've ever seen. I still get chills watching this. Incredible.
Look at in RUclips Orquesta Simón Bolivar conducted by Dudamel, Danzón 2, BBC Londress
I love it ! What Dudamel is doing with these teens is absolutely amazing !!! What a pleasure to see these teens playing such a beautiful piece.
