Lowkey tho, I'm not too sure on this, so where do all of these bots come from? They don't make themselves right? So, who's causing it? I know this is probably a goofy question, but I'd like to know.
It is very much it's own kind of a game, I personally prefer it over newer (vanilla) civilization games just because it has actually good AI for the opponents. It is also designed by Soren Johnson who was the lead designer of Civilization 4.
I want Black& white back, it'd be so much better. You play as a god and could be good or evil, you also raise a beast and have battles with them while trying to build a civilization.
its not like civ , its like CK2 and endless legend . civilization isnt the focus but the geopolitics and the events . you can for example play the grecko persian wars or rise of mesopotamia , Civ is more like progressing and building civs but its not focused on real events . this one do and this is why it have the ck2 mechanics too

Honey we already have Civ at home
its better than civ mate , its put micro focus on bronze age and antiquity and have elements of Ck2 in it
This game is a superior version of Civ without the B2 bomber vs the chariot stupidity.
