  • New physical border checks on goods imported from the EU, including meat, fish and dairy, have come into force.
The government believes the related charges will cost British firms about £330 million annually and see food inflation rise over three years. 0.2% over thee years.
But food industry bosses have said the checks will add billions to the cost of doing business with the EU.
Customers at supermarkets, restaurants and takeaways could pay more as a result.
