The argument for owning guns in America basically boils down to: government sucks, and we don’t trust it with our lives. It doesn’t matter if that means hunting for food or defending yourself and your home. When it comes to personal safety and survival, you should have the best tool for the job. I know it’s a strange notion for some, but to many Americans it’s as natural as locking your door at night or keeping an umbrella with you in case it rains.
@@hoppinggnomethe4154 Yep, that's why I used it as a comparison. Some people that find owning a gun a very unusual concept, have a hard time relating to the mindset of people that do. It's there just in case.
Do any of them consider that if the government wanted them dead they’d just shoot them with a drone from like 2 miles away? I don’t think guns are gonna protect anyone from the government… not hating, just curious
@@JayBee0212 An armed population is far more effective at repelling a tyrannical government than one that is unarmed. It is far more difficult to oppress the people if the people not only outnumber you, but have access to firearms. But this all goes beyond just fighting the government. Self defense is important too. They discuss it in the video: Pewds and Ken have a bat to stop intruders. But what if it is a group of intruders? Or what if the intruder also has a bat but he's way bigger than you? A gun is an equalizer. Regardless of size, even if the intruder has a gun, you are on equal grounds. And you can far more easily handle a group of intruders with a gun than a bat. Also also, consider being a small frail woman (not that all women are small and frail) who has to walk to her car at night with just a thing of mace? A gun can stop a rapist in his tracks. And then of course, we could go into how guns were instrumental in fighting back against white supremacy groups like the KKK in the South. Firearms make all men (and women) equal.
@@JayBee0212 Yes that’s completely possible, but the military is made up of citizens, so you’d have to convince them to execute fellow countrymen. I have no doubt that some would do it gladly, but a vast majority would not. However just having a heavily armed population is a pretty effective deterrent. There are plenty of politicians that have had a strong position to impose gun bans but never did because they knew people would not comply, and attempting to force it would result in absolute chaos. Another meaning of not trusting the government that I was implying was that many Americans, especially in rural and agricultural areas that make up the vast majority of the country, can’t wait or count on police to be there when you need them. In large cities like New York, there are usually multiple police officers within a couple minutes of you at all times. But outside of that, help can be 15-60 minutes away, which might as well be a lifetime in the event of an emergency. It is expected that families and individuals are able to take care of themselves in emergencies until sheriff deputies can arrive. It would be impossible to guarantee protection for all the people in these places, and fighting off wild boar, bears, mountain lions, or just crazed lunatics, can really mess up your day if you don’t have a gun.
A few days ago I saw on the world news that in L.A. there was a hostage situation, where a man tried to rob a place I think, got high speed chased into an apartment building and took a woman hostage in there, S.W.A.T showed up and everything it looked like something out of GTA5! I had trouble convincing myself it was real even seeing the footage of the shoot out that ended in the man's death, but the woman is as ok as she can be... Poor lady

It's really hard to explain to foreigners how gun laws and acceptance work in America, because America is a HUGE country with basically 50 smaller ones inside it and each has their own rules. And because America is so damn big, it's hard to convey to them how acceptance will fluctuate from "Of course!" to "Hell no!" across many miles making up many states.

@@staceyrox360 honestly all the major topics you hear about in the news for American politics are handled on the state level and it varies greatly between them. As for Australia, there was a case of a baker hitting someone who broke into his house with a rolling pin. The burglar survived and his mother sued for $90,000 in medical bills and emotional trauma. She ended up winning. From what I've read, Australia doesn't allow anything meant specifically for self defense. So if you had a baseball bat that you defended yourself with, you have to prove you were bringing it to a baseball game and it was a weapon of opportunity.
Australian here. You can only use the same exact force as the assailant. So if they have a bat, you can use a bat to defend yourself. If they have a knife and you have a gun (because you have a permit to hunt) then you will be charged and can go to prison for a long time.
@@gigiamour I see. For the US since the person is in our home, it's up to us to asses the threat level and determine what force is necessary. So we do not need to use equal force, depending on the state. Also, a knife is considered a deadly weapon since people don't usually wield a blade with other intentions. So a gun can be used to defend yourself against an attacker with a knife in the US.

The misconception that rifles are more dangerous than Pistols because there bigger is so wrong, you can conceal a Pistol far easier than a big ass rifle. Thats kinda why you need a permit to get a Pistol and not a rifle.
Most states don't require a permit for any gun. Just a background check. Some states require you to take a handgun and/or long gun safety test to receive a certification card, but that doesn't need to be carried to show LE or prove anything, it's only used when you want to buy another firearm, to show you don't need to take the test. Barely any states require you to have an actual permit, where if LE found it in your home, you'd have to show the permit, unless we're talking about a conceal carry license. Most states, you don't have to prove you own the gun, as possession is 9/10ths of the law. They might run the serial number, but it doesn't come back with a name showing the owner, only if it's stolen.

If you're a good neighbor, your thoughts should be "i don't care what they're shooting at, as long as it's not me. Not my business." If my neighbors want to shoot people, not my problem, unless it's ME, but that's making it my business.
The AR causes less damage then most hunting rifles. I know several people who use them for squirrels and rabbits. Its hard to take down a deer with one.

@@ComicusFreemanius yeah, the thing is the liberals are good with the 30-30 but hate the 5.56 unless it looks like a hunting rifle then its fine lol. These people also tend to think the AR is full auto lol.
ARs are absolutely used for hunting. They have a solid rifle cartridge for putting down bigger animals and the larger magazine is also good for predator defense if you get charged by a wolf or bear or something. And yes, the "AR" in "AR-15" stands for "ArmaLite Rifle" as ArmaLite was the company who produced the original AR-10. The AR-10 was a semi automatic battle rifle chambered in 7.62 NATO and designed for the US military, but was never adopted. The company then developed the AR-15, which became the M16 chambered in 5.56. ArmaLite later sold the rights to the platform to Colt, who developed a civilian sport rifle called the AR-15 Sporter chambered in the civilian .223 Remington. This is what all commercially available AR-15s are based on today. AR platform rifles are usually chambered in .223 but you can also find one for pretty much any caliber. They are civilian sport rifles, used for target shooting, hunting, defensive rifles while hunting, and home defense. They are not assault rifles. Just because they are semi automatic with large magazines does not mean they are for "assaulting enemies" so to speak. Pistols have large magazines as well, and are far more easy to conceal. Pistols are also guns, too. All guns are "designed to kill," and all guns are deadly. While there are certainly guns and weapons that the average person should not have access to, like anti-materiel rifles, explosives, machine guns (actual machine guns, not the government's arbitrary definition of anything that is automatic, but also automatic weapons too), etc, but AR-15s are not one of them.
Nobody needs an AR-15 for anything, if you do you're just a f*cking terrible marksman. Cool that you have so much useless gun semantics loaded and ready to go tho, you're really doing your part to keep school children from getting mowed down en masse🖕

You can protect yourself but the law does seem to have loopholes that should be fixed. Pewds also didn't live where guns were so easy to obtain as in America so the robber 99% of the time wouldn't be carrying a gun with them. It would be a hell of an effort to get a gun just to rob someone if you did get one. You probably had a plan to kill someone then if you did obtain it. Not saying a kinfe can't be lethal but you have a bigger chance of survival then with a gun.

They didn't bring any to our school, they began describing it and let the ones who weren't confused continue with the description. Then the police all nonchalant asked of the kids already knew it was growing out in *that* field. The kids ask if the police knew it was in [Bob's] or [Tod's] field or if it was someone else's. Police said they couldn't say. But went on to say to the kids who knew what marijuana was something like "Btw. Tell your family to stay away from *that* shed, we don't want them in trouble." The kids young, dumb, and nervious began listing off sheds to be concerned about. The police assured them everything would be fine, just be safe and stay away. Before school let out helicopters were circling around the town. Most of us didn't know until we were older that pot gives off some tell-tale heat signal that can be found with infared cameras in helicopters.

The argument for owning guns in America basically boils down to: government sucks, and we don’t trust it with our lives. It doesn’t matter if that means hunting for food or defending yourself and your home. When it comes to personal safety and survival, you should have the best tool for the job. I know it’s a strange notion for some, but to many Americans it’s as natural as locking your door at night or keeping an umbrella with you in case it rains.
locking door at night and keeping an umbrella with you are 2 of the things being done worldwide, my friend.

It's really hard to explain to foreigners how gun laws and acceptance work in America, because America is a HUGE country with basically 50 smaller ones inside it and each has their own rules. I think the more ridiculous part of the DARE program was when they told us when, where, and what streets drugs were sold on "so you can avoid the area" and "stay away from drugs" as if this wasn't just teaching kids where to buy drugs.

They might run the serial number, but it doesn't come back with a name showing the owner, only if it's stolen.
just imagine: 2 best american hillbillies ken and dane, plus pewdiepie, the internet maniac... having an actual 2 hour podcast. well i know i would even pay for a daily subscription to watch it !
Throw Jacksepticeye into that mix and I'm down for that!
I've been thinking the same thing! I definitely need a podcast like that in my life.
Would have to be weekly as they have so much going on already, but I can see that being popular
@@Paul_Ward Heck, I'd be fine with it being even once a month, it'd be worth the wait.
Is this normal in America?
All us except Felix: "Uhh it's American. America."
Other countries: "Ah yes yes, enough said."
It's not that simple in the US when it comes to someone breaking into your house. It's a slippery slope in this case for most states, BUT in Texas, and probably Georgia, yes, you break in your head will be gone and they'll go back to sleep soundly again.
Here in California...the victim gets prosecuted. 🙄
@@hssmama I'm not surprised you'd get hell for defending your home in California. New York is probably the same way.
I definitely relate to the "how do you know they aren't shooting at a person" my neighbors are always shooting stuff. But it's usually snakes and coyotes.
If you're a good neighbor, your thoughts should be "i don't care what they're shooting at, as long as it's not me. Not my business."
If my neighbors want to shoot people, not my problem, unless it's ME, but that's making it my business.
its so funny that they’re from opposite sides of the world and they knew exactly what each other was talking about with the “rumors” as a kid
Ah yes, Ken and PewDiePie quitting their job that made them millionaires just to be a police officer.
Weird remake of Hot Fuzz...but I can see it.
Just like shaq
I would watch that movie
The AR causes less damage then most hunting rifles. I know several people who use them for squirrels and rabbits. Its hard to take down a deer with one.
we'd probably drop before a 400 lbs buck would tho if we're honest
"rolls eyes but the AR looks scary who cares if the round is barely bigger then a 22 a 30-30 or 30-06 doesn't look scary enough." the closet you can get for big game is to use an AR10
@@ArmidonDeathbringer I don't think AR-15s look scary. The news just brainwashed everyone to think that.
@@ComicusFreemanius yeah, the thing is the liberals are good with the 30-30 but hate the 5.56 unless it looks like a hunting rifle then its fine lol. These people also tend to think the AR is full auto lol.
Where do you live? Because I would like to hunt these 400lb deer lol
I wonder if we can get Mary and Marzia watch a Ken and Pewds vid for a special episode :p
That could be pretty damn funny.
Love this idea!
It’s crazy because all those rumours have transcended across generations. I’m early gen z (2000) and all of those were like my core memories from childhood lol
Not being allowed to protect yourself in your own home is just wild to me. Maybe it’s because I’m born and raised southerner but man. If someone tried to kill my kids and all I had was a bat we’d all be dead.
"Are you afraid of the police in America?"
The silent look.
Only reason to be scared is if you were an uncompliant criminal.
@@gram. Wow dude, never heard that one before, very original.

It's not a problem in all places, but it IS in MANY places. I'm sorry that you haven't had enough experiences to broaden your perspective, but when you or someone you love is victimized, you will have a harsh wake-up call.

Our D.A.R.E teacher passed around fake blunts and one went missing so they had to search all the kids. He had to go home without it and a group of kids had to go home disappointed to learn there was only paper inside.
What grade or age was this ?😂
@@brie7943 I was in the fifth grade. The kids at my school were doing to much for kids that age, everything from almost getting is put on a low priority list for our local police department cuz of the amount of prank calls. To mentally breaking the resolve of some of the young teachers.
I was actually one of the first to get coat checked cuz my D.A.R.E essay was pro weed cuz I thought I was being cool.
I hadn't been part of the thief group tho because I was too busy sitting in the library corner sniffing markers so I learned about it being stolen (they checked us but didn't say why) and fake the next day
3:17 the way my mum explains it if someone breaks into our house in Australia if you fight back you will end up in jail too

i really wanna see ken go john wick mode when someone breaks into his house
Nah, he said guns are only for hunting. So he'll be grabbing the good ol baseball bat!
Ken you definitely do hunt with ARs. Very common as a matter of fact.
what kinda game tho? Isn't 5.56 a bit too small and fast?
@@gkky_ Nah. Smaller game like goats, small dear, and coyotes are fine with 5.56
Depends on the game you're hunting. Pigs, coyotes, foxes, woodchucks, prairie dogs, or smaller varmints generally, and you're fine. It is usually illegal and arguably inhumane to hunt anything larger with a small caliber rifle. That's why you need several guns! You don't keep one wrench around for all jobs.
People here hunt with AKs but they need to have 2 years of hunting experience with a shotgun before they can get a rifle permit.
@@DMG380 seems a little extreme to need a rifle permit. Freedom is where it’s at
10:50 AR 15s are some of the most popular hunting rifles, they are just a really configurable plat form. thats why they are popular, functionally however no different then many other hunting rifles.
Pewds and Ken, thank you for these reviews videos! I’m obsessed & watch them every night before I go to bed. Your banter and friendship gives me the serotonin I need to sleep 💤 💙
I’m studying to be a homicide detective so this is right up my alley
I’m a police officer in the US and I watch Pewdiepie everyday. The big difference between this job and other jobs that I have worked, is I respond to a lot of domestics where the man has beaten the woman, or vise-verse. Sometimes they’ll be armed also, sometimes they’ll run. It is also dangerous working traffic accidents on busy roads. It’s a dangerous job and not easy either.
"You don't go out hunting with your AR"
Lol, that's not true my dude. AR15s are a popular hunting rifle, particularly for hunting wild boars.
yep, especially in Texas
Kens is just a hillbilly. There shouldn't be any restrictions on guns and then everyone will respect that anyone around them is armed and will kill you

@@brainderp808 u do know the rest of the world lives without guns right? Or have u ever left ur little town in the prairies?
In Missouri you can even shoot someone trying to get into your tent. Edit: Yeah Ken is right. They also would pass weed around and ask us kids if we've ever smelt it seem it before. I'm fairly certain the powders were fake. Yeah, they would be like to your parents have this stuff? And you're like eight just excited to answer a question.
God bless America
It's still your castle and dwelling.
This didn't happen at my schools
I also live in MO and never had weed passed around? Literally what police force does that lol. Also, you can shoot people in Mo even if they’re trespassing attempting to get in, but if you drag the body into your house, you probably won’t get in trouble.
Yeah in the UK we get in trouble for trying to be safe.

You really dont have to be scared of US cops. The only ones you hear about are the bad ones, so you assume thats all that exist.
Yep, there have been cases in Australia where burglars sue the homeowner for being injured whilst breaking in
