- An artist, a zoo and a gallery came together to raise money for endangered animals. Artist David Derrick sculpted Sundance, a redtailed hawk, live in the J. Willott Gallery as the main event for a fundraiser for the Living Desert Zoo in Palm Desert. Once completed the sculpture began another journey as ancient as the Romans and the Greeks called the lost wax method which would transform clay into metal bronze.
This is great, and absolutely cured me of any desire to DIY this.
Inspiring work! Soon my own piece will undergo the same process.
It's such a beautiful and ingenious method for getting great casts
Skipped most of the silicone mold, no parting line or alignment key demonstration.
No description of wax burn out?
Soo, where is the wax? Got lost from the video.

How did they do the silicon casting during roman times?
Real Idiot they didn't. They shaped the wax into sculptures with their hands. Almost the same thing is still done in India. Google ”lost wax casting in India.”
