    I like how the model carries your gear

    Spot on, as usual.. Concise, easy to follow instructions.. A video of pre/post examples, with pull back shots of the set up.. Not to mention, your interaction with the model.. Gently directing, allowing for input, yet maintaining control.. You had a concept, and took a few seconds to explain it.. Two pros working together.. Brilliant.. I never stop learning from you.. Thank you..

    I’m going to have to pick the adapter up for my Chicago street portraits. Love those shots against the wood wall!

    Appreciate the tutorial, those are versatile lights aren't they. One comment about your model that caught my eye, she surely is a professional, I noticed her moving the kit, back off the sidewalk against the wall, thoughtful.

    I recently read in some other source that in NYC, it's illegal to place a light stand on the ground unless one has a permit for it. So since you're doing a lot of that in this video, I was curious to know if that's true or not, or is it something that's technically true but realistically not a big deal...like the police don't care unless you're actually causing an obstruction or whatever. Which you were very careful not to do, as you said.

      It depends entirely on where you are. If you are in one of the busy areas with a lot of pedestrian traffic, then you'll get shut down quickly. Also, if it looks like a production with several people, you will attract attention ... again, especially so if you affect pedestrian traffic.
      I therefore often work with an assistant holding up a softbox instead of setting down a light-stand.
      With this photo session with Rozelinda, we were in a quieter area where I knew we wouldn't be interrupted much by passersby.

    About shutter Drag, i have A10 and A1x trying to fire the flash before closing the 2nd curtain as i selected in the menu, but it keep firing on the 1st curtain !! I am using canon EOS R6, I thought the issue was from my camera but i took off the profoto and used Godox V1 and everything work fine like i want, it firs the flash before the 2nd curtain close, any idea what is going wrong my expensive profoto product why it fire with 1st curtain and not 2nd curtain like i selected !?

    Great video and examples. What is the largest OCF modifier you would use with the A10 ? How does the power compare to B2?

    • @neilvn
      @neilvn  3 года назад +1

      Here is how the B10 compares to the B2 and B1. A surprising result!

    • @neilvn

      Because it is a smaller and less robust unit than the B1, I wouldn't put a large 5-ft octabox on it, but the B10 can definitely hold a 1x3 stripbox or a 3-ft octabox.

      @@neilvn Hi Neil. Thanks for your reply. I was asking about the A10 flash w ocf holder

    • @neilvn
      @neilvn  3 года назад

      Sorry, that's what I get for answering late at night. I get a little loopy.
      Physically, the OCF adapter should take some good weight. It's a solid piece of metal. A 1x4 stripbox or 3-ft octabox easily.

    • @neilvn
      @neilvn  3 года назад

      I didn't measure the A10, but the A1 is about 1/3rd to 1/2 stop brighter than your usual large speedlights. In other words, noticeable, but not substantially brighter than a speedlight. But the recycling time is faster.
      I don't offhand know how it compares to the B2.

    Do you need to have a permit in NYC for placing down tripods with lights?

    • @neilvn
      @neilvn  3 года назад

      Not really, if you're careful about where you work. If you at all hinder pedestrian traffic, the cops will move you along.
      I usually work with an assistant holding a monopod, bur for this photo session, I specifically worked in places where I knew we'd be okay with using a light-stand.
      Notice in the initial segment, that I placed the light-stand well out of the way of anyone on the sidewalk.

    Do the A1x and A10 drain batteries really fast when idle like the A1? I found my A1 lost almost a quarter of battery life in 20 minutes when shooting at a slow pace while at 6.0-8.0 power setting, but it's fine when it goes into sleep mode, I've never experienced anything like this with other on-camera flashes, btw it's on the latest firmware.

    What is the LED (mod light) wattage?

    • @neilvn
      @neilvn  2 года назад

      That spec isn't given on the specification sheet. It's not enough to use as a video light though.

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 2 года назад

      @@neilvn Yes, I understand what you have just stated.
      But does anyone know the wattage? You are a professional & you have it & don't know?
      Neil van Niekerk, get your good lightmeter out & please check at 6 feet away.

    I think Godox V1 and all their other products is 1. either going to cause ProFoto to lower their prices to a realistic amount and/or 2. Put them out of business. Godox does the same thing, just as good, and much less expensively.

  • @jheelan

      @neilvn  3 года назад

      That I would not know. I don't have a Godox V1.
