Trump isn’t the “New Kid on the Block”. He knows exactly what he is doing. He was the President of the United States of America for 4 years.
Please don’t give him these kind of passes. He wanted division within his own country, now he has it. He wants division between Canada and the USA and divisions with in Canada. Trump does the best for himself and worse for others when he has as much chaos going on as he can. People with any kind of experience in life should realize this.

  • @billharding8411

US trade deficit with Canada is about 50 billion, not 100 billion. A trade deficit means Canada exports more to the US than they import. A tariff will mean US consumers will pay more for Canadian products, which will drop the CAD dollar and the resulting recession will mean Canada imports less US goods, which will increase the us trade deficit, or do the exact opposite of what is intended. I guess the thinking is that a tarriff will balance the trade deficit, but that just never works. Even if U.S. exporters switch to domestically produced inputs their costs will still rise, because competing domestic suppliers will be able to increase their markups in the industries that are protected by higher tariffs.

My fellow Canadians, this is all a ruse. Statistics show this is inherently an American problem. From 2022-2023 Canadian customs seized ~500,000 kilos of illegal drugs along our entire southern border, while the Americans "only" seized ~27,000 kilos. This clearly shows us two things:
    1. The flow of illegal contraband is predominately south to north, _NOT_ north to south as Trump would have us believe and
    2. Our border security is actually doing a much better job of seizing illegal drugs coming into Canada than the Americans.
This is to say nothing about the illegal guns flowing into Canada from the US which is arguably the biggest problem for Canadians and legal gun owners.
**To be clear, Trumps _only_ motive for imposing tariffs stems from his need to pay for massive tax breaks for U.S. Billionaires. Our borders are _NOT_ broken, but like our healthcare system, could always use a little TLC. Our goal of building a country that all Canadians can be proud of hasn't changed much since July 1, 1867. It takes hard work and patience, one brick at a time. Hope this helps, stay vigilant.

Trump's not cutting trade, he's just putting a 25% tax on products entering the US. It's no different than going to the store and buying something and paying a sales tax. If Doug Ford wants to sell electricity here, he's gonna have to pay to play. A 25% tax will be added on his electricity and he can eat the 25% and continue selling for the same price, or US electric producers will service those clients.

Who gives a crap about what New Brunswick says?
There are three provinces that actually generate income for the rest of Canada…
They are Ontario British Columbia and Alberta.
The earn enough money to distribute it to the rest of the provinces that can’t keep their own crap together.
New Brunswick, is run by a couple of families, and the Irving family does very well imported energy from overseas..
Why the media would focus on New Brunswick is beyond me.
This comes down to trade between three provinces and multiple US states. So let’s let the adults in the room deal with this.

      @
What does that have to do with the provinces and trade with the states?
Our companies in Ontario Alberta and British Columbia don’t require federal permission to do business with US states.

Lower prices at the gas pumps for Canadians instead of the USA

That would be the case if US starts buying oil from somewhere else. Then Canadians would have surplus gas for themselves
