Agree. Altho i've never played P3, Arsene on P5 (vanilla, idk for royal), on blank new game is like, weak (?). It only has one light curse skill, one light physical skill, and that's it (?). And two weaknesses like come on. Meanwhile i'm currently playing P4G and keeping my Izanagi and all i need is tarukaja Chie or Yukiko and bam all enemies done in one turn. I cant do that with Arsene to buff Ryuji or Ann
If we're talking about protagonists' initial Personas I gotta go with Obama on this one. First off, Orpheus and Arsene have multiple weaknesses and Orpheus doesn't have a single resistance. Izanagi only has one weakness, is resistant to electricity and is immune to darkness.
Orpheus - has the most badass awakening Izanagi - most effiecient due to its affinities (don't get me started with izanagi-no-okami) Arsene - the best looking design wise
Even though he’s the worst starter Persona stats wise, I think the Orpheus is best just based off looks imo. His design is faithful to his lore and he looks like the protagonist so it drives home the fact that’s his persona. Also his attack animations are awesome.
I mean Orpheus also has Orpheus F for Kotone and Orpheus Talos, so it has the upper hand in terms of variety, not to mention the attention to detail with the greek legend of Orpheus, like how he was ripped apart except for his head, which is why it's body is robotic.
0:27 No? Isn't Thanatos a seperated Persona? Sure, it was special to Makoto but not because it's evolved Persona like Izanagi-no-Okamu and Satanael but rather a spoiler reason. Messiah IS the evolved Persona from Orpheus.

I'mma go with Obama on this on because #1 in terms of combat Izanagi is the most useful cause he has a good move pool, he nulls dark, resist elec, and only has one weakness which is wind, and even then i don't think there is many enemies that have wind skills in the first two dungeons and #2 because i think Izanagi has the coolest design and the coolest awakening
i dont know anymore about p3 mc persona like...his persona original is orpheus and theres come thanatos, orphy evolved to talos, but p3mc ultimate persona is messiah instead that is actualy a fusion
To be fair, Orpheus doesn’t necessarily evolve into Thanatos right? It’s the protagonists accessing a Persona based on the Shadow of Death within himself. Orpheus evolves into Messiah, but Thanatos is a separate entity as far as I know.
I can only speak for P4 and P2, so my ranking is this: 1. Vulcanus 2. Maia 3. Izanagi Idk if it is because Yu is a wild card protag, but I used Izanagi less than Maia and Vulcanus.
I mean, statistically speaking, Izanagi is the best starter of the new Gen Persona games because of his affinities and good move pool
