nice work and thought-provoking questions. Since you are there, could you try and talk to some of the Singaporean people, maybe those at the Universities and asked them about their developmental model. Africa especially Ghana was at par with Singapore some years ago but the difference in development is clear now. The Question is what can we learn from them and if their economic or developmental model is currently relevant to African countries. I would be glad if you can host a panel in future to initiate this discussion. The response would be interesting………… But to me, Africa should develop its own economic model .

Every Country has the potential to become rich and prosperous provided the leaders and citizens work together with dedication. Upto 70s Singapore was a poor underdeveloped small island with no resources but imagine they become one of the richest Countries in the world now... It is because of their visionary leaders and people's participation in the process in developing their tiny islands...
But if you wanna follow Singapore and Chinese model of growth, western Countries won't like you because both are ruled by single party govt. who dedicated for their Nation.... that's why Singapore is one of the richest Country in the world now and China is the fastest growing economy who is soon to surpassed American economic hegemony....
After all, it depends on the leaders integrity and nothing gonna change unless you have a leader who love his country more than money and his personal interest...

It wasn’t easy to convince everyone to understand and share the values, and that was why there were so many campaigns to educate our singaporeans even till today. Never easy to get the messages across and it needs lots of hard work. Every country can too. And I hope your videos will be a wake-up call and something worth will follow with positive vibes.

Finally, someone is saying what i've always tried to argue, it's hard to explain to Africans about the nature of our people without them getting defensive and angry, they blame everything on colonisation and have this "wakanda syndrome" if only they were not colonised blah blah...BS!
it's the nature of our people, we think only of ourselves and how we can show off and look better than someone else rather that a community spirit to better the nation as a whole.
Singapore did not look like that in the 80s,
Rwanda had big issues in the 90's and they are catching up fast!
Medellin, Colombia has suddenly become a huge tourist destination in recent years
China is suddenly a big deal!
These countries were not exactly at the top of the visit list in the 80s and 90s, but look at what they are doing now! My point is we need to stop trying to find excuses and realise it is our own fault, our thinking is very selfish and corrupt. Ugh!

I'm a south korean living temporarily in Tanzania at the moment. I might be mistaken but one of the factors that played no insignificant role in Korea's economic growth was education. By that I mean, even when korea was so poor after the Korean war, people put a great weight on children's education. It's more like east asian thing since it's seen in China as well. I believe the investment in children's education planted seeds of development in the future generation.

I'm a Singaporean. I had friend work before in Rwanda, a local zimbabwean friend and my India neighbor had a nigerian husband.
I agree with your view. Its passionate yet true. Corruption is one issue. Other country ripped natural resource from Africa to their own country is true.
I told my african friends a long time ago. Africa can be rich, economically rich. 3 hindering factors: corruption, racial conflict and make religon part of politics.
But a penny worth tip here from what i learn from my African related friends. Singapore's core is racial harmony and avoid having a national religon.
On whole in Africa, other than corruption... theres lack of racial harmony between tribes. Lack Religon tolerance. 0
Racial harmony is a crucial factor that made Singapore easy to trade. Emotional safe. I agree Rwanda is close. If Rwanda can achieve racial harmony...do not let religon interfere politics...then the economy will rocket.

What a lot of people don't get are these:
    1) 75% Singapore citizen are ethnic HAN Chinese who can work very hard.
    2) Singapore became developed from a one-party state, and is still largely state capitalist.
    3) Singapore 's location is in keypoint of malacaa strait which has many busy trading routs, and it is very free for international tading.

Objectively depends on the country. South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea god no. But places like Kenya and Nigeria DEFINITELY have the potential. Or Botswana or Ghana for that matter. They have strong values of education, rich in natural resources etc. In Africa i think the main emerging power in the future will be Nigeria. They have a massive economy, educated society, and proximity to seaports. If their political situation is stablized they definitely do. In fact much more powerful than Singapore.

Singapore is a diminutive state underwritten by a marginal population. To boot, it is of no strategic import to the capitalist imperialist axis whose cutthroat neocolonial predation on post colonial African states - as an expedient in service of international finance capital and its unbridled avaricious purview that extends to all resource endowed domains, not in the least Somalia, Eritrea, and South Sudan - has both overtly and surreptitiously arrested natural development in Africa. Nations whose hydrocarbon concessions alone dwarve Singapore appropo strategic substance. Eritrea has for almost 30 years been subject to economic sanctions, South Sudan has since the 80s been the playground of agents of imperialism to carve out Sudan and unilaterally reroute its oil and gas reserves to western markets until Salva Kiir began selling oil concessions to China fostering imperialist backed non state actors, whilst Somalia was primed for wholesale dissolution as early as 1979 in view of major discoveries of offshore and inladlnd oil and with the organisation of tribal supremacist death squads in London and Riyadh against the anticolonial Pan-Africanist Socialist republic that was Somalia under Barre. Africa's deleterious symptomatic afflictions that have become almost platitudinous are almost always actuated by adventitious agents of imperialism and neocolonialism. But the recourse of the unwitting is to pre-occupy oneself with sophistical teleological treatises on Africas "problems", rather than its root cause, which is imperialism.
