Isn’t it time for People to petition their State Gaming Boards and raise the taxable threshold to $5,000? The $1,200 amount was instituted in the 70’s, I believe. That was when $1,200 was considered a lot of money. Today, it’s not even relative to gaming jackpot standards. What are your thoughts?

Unless you can file as Professional Gambler, and not have to pay the State tax, you’re screwed. It’s highway robbery. The States make money on Entrance Head Fee tax every time you enter the casino. They make it on every other tax you can think of that casinos generate (income tax for employees, sales tax from dining, drinks and store purchases, etc…), and then they get tax from our $1,200 or better jackpots. It’s a win-win for the States and a lose-lose for casino patrons.
