@@t_k_blitz4837 3 of us made it in a basement. it was originally called Frankie's Dungeon (terrible title). i did all of the original load screens and animated characters (didn't do the backgrounds). then Reactor bought the title and redid all the load screens and backgrounds and tweaked some of the animated characters. pushed a LOT of pixels...
Its games like Creepy Castle/Frankie’s Castle that set the Macintosh apart from other 16-bit computers of the time. Mac game developers were never afraid to experiment with original ideas.
God, I absolutely love the art style here. I think I prefer the simplicity of the Frankie's Dungeon version, but there's something to be said for the highly-dithered look of B&W Mac graphics that are shooting to approximate greyscale.
Does anyone else remember the buffalo wild wings flash game that they put on their website that was basically a remade act 1 of this? It was a Halloween promo in like 2006. I checked way back machine but it didn't get archived. Now I feel crazy like I dreamed it up.
It really does. That said, can you tell me what it says after “Creepy Castle”. As a kid I always thought it was “Creepy Castle, Creepy Car”. But that doesn’t make sense.
i can't believe there's a video of this. i had a lot of fun working on this back in the day - thanks for posting!
Awesome, what did you do??

I recognize many World Builder sound effects here.

Love the Dark Castle vibes (multi-ton, trapezoid weight that drops down, bats that squeak like the mice)
The Silver Ring makes your punches a little stronger against the boss. The bullet method works way better.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact the theme slaps though?

This seems a lot better than Frankie’s Dungeon.
power.
Joe Sparks made their indie Mac game
He is in the company that made spaceship warlock
Love this game
What type of Macintosh does this game run on? Apple II?
I haven't even watched the video yet and I like it! Yeah! First.
Is this a Mac version of Altered Beast? Gameplay looks like it a lot
I was thinking the same thing. Better frame rate. Faster. But you don’t transform into beasts.
