I traded my black MPC One for a MPC Key 37 and couldn't be happier. It's a nice compact sized keyboard MPC workstation in one unit. As Bolo said, it's only one unit I have to plug in and it's compact for traveling as well. Previously, I was always connecting an external midi keyboard to the MPC One every time I wanted to play keys with it, making for a clunkier setup. With the MPC KEY-37, I don't have to worry about that. That's the reason I bought the KEY-37.

One thing to note, if you select the MPC+ standalone, you can hook it to a good midi keyboard controller that has really good "arpeggios". This is the benefit of the MPC+. The Key 37 has the same basic arpeggios as the MPC Key 61 and MPC+ and FORCE. I use the Roland Juno D (2024) model as a midi controller for the MPC+. This gives you 1000s of arpeggios to customize and makes your jams better. Great video as always!

All are nice pieces of hardware for that money. Most of all I love Akai sound quality with recordings too. Il love producing beats but I'm a bass player since decades. If you’re a pads > keys type producer you’ll prefer the One over the Key 37 because the pads are centered. If you’re more of a producer that prefers the keys then go Key 37.
To the people leaning towards buying the One I’d recommend people be patient and save up to get a Live 2 instead of a MPC One. I know it’s difficult to wait if you already got the money for the One, but it’s worth it. Of course, that’s just a suggestion.

I play keys professionally, so the MPC Key 37 got me interested in the MPC again after a somewhat complicated experience with an MPC One about two years ago. I had an opportunity to trade an SP404MK2 for an MPC One Plus. I'm actually glad I went with it even though I was leaning towards the Key 37 because I can choose which amount of keys I need for different scenarios. On top of it, I'm getting that MPC stuff stand/battery combo.
I feel like the MPC One/One Plus and Live 1 and 2 are the portable options. All other models are for dedicated studio use.

Hey, what keys are you playing? I own a Yamaha MODX8 and I am thinking about coupling it with an MPC. Theoretically I do not need a keybed and go well with the MPC One+, but something brings me towards the MPC Key 37. It must be so portable.

@ I use a Korg Nautilus 88 key for my studio work. I ended up with the MPC One Plus and I use various midi controllers with it because it's my outside of the studio workstation. I prefer the One Plus over the Key 37 for now because keys are optional and it makes it more protable.
I had a MODX for 3 years and it's a really nice keyboard and has great synths. It's a little tricky to program, but has a lit of potential. That's a good pair up with the MPC in my opinion.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any MPC.
Get the MPC KEY 37 if you have the extra cash and will be using the keys for chill chords/bass lines. The pads feel superior on the KEY 37 than MPC ONE+ but the synth action keys may not be best suited for a piano player that's used to playing on weighted keys.
I will say the workflow profile is better on the MPC ONE+ and you can MIDI connect or USB connect a MIDI controller or piano if you already own one.
If you want a finger drumming AKAI product, that is portable and have great speakers, get the LIVE 2. Thank me later.
Solid video BOLO - keep sharing the knowledge!

As a Maschine refugee, seeking “asylum” in the MPC 3 (beta) firmware, I chose the MPC key 37. The keybed isn’t super, but it has aftertouch, and I don’t have a midi controller with that. For extensive “noodling” and freaking out, I can still plug in my Arturia Keylab essential 61….

I've been producing for over 25 years and I never bother with finger drumming pads but have been interested in mpc as I know it's standard for creating hip hop I play keyboards and I used to play drums and am considering whether to buy a digital drum kit I've been looking into buying a used mpc renaisance because of the software and the fully featured controller only problem is its a mine field of finding one used from the original owner in the UK I can find the unit for about £400 UK I want an mpc but can't afford the live two or even the one used due to being on disability benefits most my life and have read buying a used renaisance is a risk as the hardware can only be authorised once and that's if the akai servers even still allow authorisation I've found 2 for just over 400 UK plus postage I really do want the classic mpc look of the renaisance (wish they would make a new one tbh) while the key 37 would probably be the better choice being both a keyboard player and very rusty probably can't do it well anymore as haven't had a digital kit in 20+ years drummer 😅😂 I want to get away from my traditional keyboard composer production work flow I don't really want a used anything except the renaisance but I'm considering mpc+ if I can find it new within my budget I was a full digital hybrid suite owner 20+ years ago and I never actually use sampling being a self taught keyboard player and a once ok enough to play a beat drummer I have admired mpc for years and I used ni machine once for a small amount of time and found it boring it was a pc controller based one and have decided that due to my previous lack of finger drumming skills as usually use My keyboard s to produce but I want to change my workflow as haven't written any new music for years I'm building a pioneering mixed reality home studio (one of maybe a few hundred in the world at most with my capabilities and feature set) I aim to target the emerging xr market knowing fully well traditional music and music video scene is so saturated chances are most people unlikely to get many hits by posting on youtube or other platforms due to being lost amongst the other million videos released that same minute I know this post is long but if you have time to reply is their any help or info you could give me on the renaisance and whether they are still viable or even worth bothering with due to them being obsolete can the renaisance be authorised still even if I purchase the software separately which I dont mind because of the fully featured controller setup on the ren I don't mind being locked Into older no longer supported software (when mpc daw drops support forever for the ren) I have found a guy in Scotland who has a ren but who is not the original owner but he does claim to be the owner of the mpc daw pc mac software) if you do read this and do reply would I be better off with the mpc+ or would the used ren be OK to buy the owner said he is willing to transfer the software license having bought the unit used q d the software license separately Reay I would like the ren because of the dual workflow and fully featured controller layout and being able to learn the mpc workflow on the ren as if a standalone unit or for speed if I have a paying customer the speed of being able to use the pc/mac software to set the machine up faster meaning less money spent waiting for me to create kits do you think I should go for the ren or just leave the ren alone due to its age even though I love the ren design and layout and just get the plus new if I can find one cheap enough being a standalone I don't mind 16gb storage in the plus and while the key 37 is sexy when I set up my control room and volunetric capture stage in my bedroom I need a small footprint device a d I really want to get away from the keyboard workflow I've used for years and Learn mpc workflow I hope you have the time to read this and to reply but fully understand if not what would be your suggestion take a chance on a used ren if still able to register the hardware and the license for the software can be transferred still or should I forget the ren and settle for the mpc+ really id like the ren but being on state benefits I can't really afford anything else I bought mpc fly 30 for my ipad 3 but unfortunately it doesn't allow for Bluetooth midi in and out in the original ipad mpc app so it's just really a nice toy to make my ipad 3's have a reason to live lmao any advice would be greatly appreciated blessings light and love from the UK great video and you gained a new subscriber aswell 😊😮

Im really considering it for live looping, trying to keep it simply to perform and good for streaming. Not sure if pay 600 for the Boss RC505 and use my logic sounds but then its shit to have to plug my interface + guitar + mic....
if I can use the footswitch to control and just plug a guitar and mic too live loop in MPC KEY 37 plus use they keybead and drum sequenser I think its the best gear for it. But I think that the fact that I havent see anyone do it must be something that dont let them xD not sure what its is...

i went to the music store and saw MPC Key 37 and thought its look pretty and eye catchy, BUT BUT its very plasticky, it felt cheap, and that was a deal breaker, The MPC Plus One Plus is metal and more solid, but the color is kind of dark red, could have been a little less dark red, but not bad, best MPC you can buy, very portable. you can attack any midi keyboard and it will power them. if they had made 49 keys hmmm and more metal than plastic could have gotten that.
BUT MPC ONE is the one

This information is from a music producer who has many years of experience in the music industry also as a studio engineer (formally trained). I'm also a music composer and a spoken word poet and a song writer. MPCs are (old technology) you would be better off getting a good keyboard with a good sequencer in it so that you can sound like a whole band playing when it's only you. Many keyboards have 50 drum kits in them or more and many keyboards have the old 808 drums and 909 drums and live studio drums and analog drums and you can mix them all up together if you want to to be very creative. And we are not talking about all of the other high quality instruments that are in the keyboard like: pianos, jazz keyboards, strings, horns, bass guitars, jazz guitars, rock guitars, jazz upright basses, orchestral instruments and analog instruments. Get a good keyboard and learn how to use it.

If you truly know how to fully use any mpc you can achieve the same thing any larger workstation can do. For the money they're asking for the mpc37, it's a steal. It's all in one and that makes it easier on your lightbill and again, if you know how to work it fully you can do anything and any type of music.

With a good keyboard you can compose all of the instruments inside the keyboard including mix it and then later transfer the tracks one by one to the recorder and then add vocals. MPCs are old technology I don't know why people are still buying them. looks like they are trying to turn a MPC into a keyboard. Get a good keyboard.
