Circle Jerks perform "Red Tape" in this clip from The Decline of Western Civilization. Grab the The Decline of Western Civilization Collection on Blu-ray and DVD at www.shoutfacto...
The ultimate record of LA’s 80s punk subculture, The Decline of Western Civilization captured the essence of the scene, providing a front row seat to the mosh pits, violence, humor and anti-establishment view of the world, as well as unparalleled access to some of the most influential and innovative musicians and groups of all time, including X, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Fear, and Germs. Largely unknown to the mainstream world at the time, many of the punk bands first seen here have become legendary. This time capsule of a singular moment in rock history is highly-celebrated and has been in demand for decades by fans worldwide. The film will be released this June in The Decline of Western Civilization Collection deluxe box set, featuring all three Decline films, each with a new 2K digital restoration, a 40 page book, and extensive bonus features.

Keith Morris is a cuddle-wuddle. Honest and adorable. Bless him. I never get tired of all this stuff. Love you Keith ❤
This footage rules. I never get sick of it. Totally intense. The Jerks came out the gate swinging in full force. They were only a band less then a year. For the record this gig is from 1980 not 1981...the film was released in 1981.
I was there the night they filmed that at the Fleetwood in Redondo
Fuck yeah. Do tell!
Wait, was that night with the Bags and Gun Club? I remember hanging out there other times.Redondo lesbians and punks stood up for each other admirably. And damn, those women can teach even me to play pool.
I was born in 81! haha
Lucky you. Aww wow. Wish I could have been there. ♥
i met John Denney, and told him how id listen to the weirdos to get punped before surfing at Redondo Beach and as i was about to walk away he pulled me back and said, "Thats a really good beach," and let me go.
Keith, Rodger, Greg and Lucky, my favourite line up!
Keith’s the best punk rock front man of all time and it’s not close
Lee Ving was better
He's like the Mick Jagger of hardcore!
the raw energy of it all!
i was lucky enough to be involved in the early 80's L.A. punk scene met all these guys and saw them several times live always incredible never once had a bad night (at least not that i ever saw).
THIS WAS MY SCENE!!!.
PROUD OF IT!!!...GREATNESS AND FURY!!!...GEN X!!!
I wonder in what year mohawks became the norm/the uniform?
@robertsteinberger5667 Mohawks were a designer thing created by the part time punks(trendies)that wanted to look like they fit into our scene...this was as bad as the so called punk fashion,in which we had no fashion of clothes...we wore what we liked and never pondered to the establishment that said we were...so this was the true point of our hardcore scene.
Regards to that hack Malcolm McClaren in England that created the punk rock movie and clothes!!!...Poser all and all.
@@stevencorsoe9575 thanks for your reply Johnny Rotten said everybody started looking the same, having the same uniform.,the mohawks did come to dominate the punk scene or is that only the way it looked on the outside?
@@robertsteinberger5667 Only the way it looked on the outside...like saying Adam Ant was in the hardcore scene with all of his gala videos...the hardcore scene was the hardcore scene about anti politics and anti government...so we were not going to a stylist getting 75.00 haircuts and we never sold our music to MTV...we were individuals and those of us with heart never stopped being individuals...
was good in black flag too
Roger is killing it on Bass with those downstrokes. He makes it look easy.

LMAO!
I felt that ...
Okay that drummer is going off
Methinks I still have this on Cassette Tape!
Jar Jar? Is that you?
how the scene needs something like these bands. there isn't near as much energy.
You must not be looking hard ebough
there's shows crazier than this every weekend, maybe its cause I'm from Los Angeles
+FuckPunkers Yeah but bands need to get away from the generic sound to energy plus a unique sound!
+Oi325 totally agree
Unless you live a place like alaska where there just isnt enough people, and you have to drive 50+ miles for local show and for a out of town show like fairbanks its 350. Some scenes just dont thrive cause of location, lack of people, etc.
Magnífico na época
Laughing my arse off at 0.30. muwahh muwahhh red tape!!!
Its always confused me that Roger is switching off from shirtless to wearing a shirt
yeah there's a lot of weird edits she made to this film-adding in audio that wasn't there originally, splicing together scenes from different shows, etc. still a classic film but definitely some post-production oddities in it
Electrk I just saw this comment rn, but that definitely makes sense. I know in the Darby interview when she asks about the drugs and when he starts talking it gets muffled and just says “bored”
Before he had those goofy dreadlocks.
why the bassist's shirt appears and disappears?
guillermo uribe naime magic
I think the shot where Keith is jumping into the audience isn't actually during Red Tape, but they wanted to use the shot anyway. Notice how the one scene where the bassist's shirt is back is also the point in the song where Keith isn't singing, and thus there's no concern about his mouth movements not matching the words. It's definitely from another point in the set that was edited in. If you look closely, there's a lot of shots where the performance doesn't match the music at all. They were only getting certain angles at certain points, so to get the different angles here they had to take footage from the whole show.
I barely notice that it is Keith Morris 😂
Texas!
now if that isnt drumming
Best lyracist ever.
I love how Keith Morris doesn't sugar coat a damn thing in his songs
Red tape!
Huge difference between today's left and yesteryear's left
Huge difference between you and an insightful person.
@@emoedison How is that?...Because I don't advocate for the mindless Woke Mob?
@@emoedison ..Your insight? ...None! Go to your room and chat with your mindless woke mob.
The genx left meant something...we were intelligent, open hand, and made a point...I don't know what the fuck kind of garbage and shit is there today...just weirdos that think men can have babies and using name calling as abuse...real assholes.
Hope this young kid that spews this shit never gets an opinion of us genx...what an asshole.
After 40+ years, this still seems a little menacing- yet rather quaint at the same time. Many young bands nowadays try to get this kind of vibe going. It's been done, and done better! Try something new!
Black Flag sucked after he left, though Dez was pretty cool too.
