Branch 1 is a total focus for military rearmament after the selling territories to other nations and giving some territories independence. In branch 1 superweapon development will be put on the highest priority Branch 2 is more of a passive way like economical reforms and foreign investors aid and resources excavations and reforms of the armed forces. For political decisions during the Belkan War i think Belka should have 2 either surrender unconditionally in case they're beat up to the point of no return or they nuke the border 7 times to force the allied forces on the negotiating table I hope this is a good idea thank you for your work sir.

While we want Aces to be represented as Ace Squadrons in-game, we don't want the country with the canonical game-changers (Ustio with Cipher, ISAF with Mobius, Osea with Wardog) to have an insurmountable advantage over their enemies. A player-controlled Belka should be able to protect Excalibur and conquer Osea if they're good enough.

@cnlbenmc People really overestimate the effectiveness of armed civilians. Partisans would be a thing, but not Wolverines (Red Dawn) level effective. Most get killed or captured quick without serious outside help (See Russian Partisan Activity, World War II)

Now imagine a nation more than twice the size geographically with a population approaching 500 million with the same gun to people ratio and one that has shared a border with an actively hostile nation for over a century. Imagine how the Balkans would feel if every single step they took in Osea could potentially be the sights of a rifle at every waking moment. The Balkans would be forced to devote an enormous amount of men and materiel to keep their supply lines safe lest they be constantly raided.

Keep in mind how horrendously expensive along with time consuming to build even generation 4 jets are to WWII designs and how complicated and specialized training pilots for them are. Also that the capabilities of the planes take a quantum leap; an F-15E has the bombload of a B-29 for instance and a B-52 with guided bombs could literally destroy multiple factories by itself.

+@@Inerrant1+ I've always wondered how ISAF was able to go from those small island chains of the coast of Usea after Erusia kicked them off the continent even if you had a Dunkirk on steroids evacuation to eventually launching a 21st Century edition of a D-Day style Invasion and pushing back across an entire continent the size of Australia (ish). Along with how you're gonna get that to scenario work potentially in Hoi4. Knowing what we know now about the AC Universe it's likely Osea was selling ISAF literal mountains of military equipment and providing advisors to them, possibly even mercenaries. Even with the Machinations of the Mobius Squadron it would still be a remarkable achievement.
There will definitely be alternate history paths. If you check our Discord announcements, there's a poll question that asks about how exactly the community wants alternate history represented plus several other features.
I do hope they're peeping at Kaiserreich and taking notes on what they do(and how to do it better): I imagine Ulysses is a very good parallel to Black Monday in devastation.
My son Cipher is not like other children. He does not scream or cry or even get upset, but he observes the world with keen interest. This morning, he burst into bubbling laughter when a streamer ran the canyon with Novice controls and crashed. Drones do not like him and he makes a strange beeping sound when near other children. Courtiers whisper 'demon lord' and the servants have started to avert their eyes and make covert signs to ward off missiles.
It will be interesting if countries have radically different focus trees and ideologies outside the historical path. Examples: - Belka seeks an international alliance to form a strong faction before invading anything. - OSEA turns communist. - Sapin builds S7R. - Ustio voluntarily rejoins Belka before a war can be declared. - OSEAn civil war. - Each IS member needs to accept joining the union in their focus tree. - Yuktobania provides aid to Estovakia so it quickly rebuilds and prospers right after Ulisses. - Any nation can research Project Nemo at the end of their most pro-science focus branch. - Erusia declares on North Point first. - Etc. The more, the merrier. :)

Air Ixiom here. We're considering replacing Aces as you know them in HOI4 with 'Ace Squadrons'... ie; rather than an Ace being Pixy or Cipher, the Ace is all of Galm Team... or Wardog or Mobius. You'll see a nice little emblem instead of the pilot's face in-game. Whether we change it further (like making them 'immortal' in-game) or not, we haven't decided yet.
My personal idea was to make a war virtually unwinnable without air support. (A way to do this is to have all equipment with obscene defense values in the tech tree... since Close Air Support ignores this value, it damages equipment a lot more effectively than ground combat) But I think that's a bit extreme for most players. ;) We're definitely going to buff air power.
MaryShelleys Monster Honestly, despite how much I love Ace Combat, that's a horrible idea. Ace Combat can work with overpowered fighters because the entirety of gameplay is focused around them. In HoI IV land combat is a much more significant component. Thus air combat isn't nearly nuanced enough to focus the entirety of the combat around. Buff it by all means, but don't make land units pointless in the process.
Could be great if the fighter's units have a rank, on first deployment it's rookie then climb to ace, we could create our own legendary squadron who will win the war by themselves
Would have been really cool if they could push the game up to Ace Combat Electrosphere. Just imagine: building Megafloat like some sort of megastructure which could boost your economy or be the production powerhouse etc.

Osea gets even to give it up willingly to prevent a war. Description: "The Belkans who were abandon and made prisoners in their own homes will once again know the taste of free man's air. North and South have been unlawfully separated for long enough, if we can't liberate them through peace then we will through war!" "United We Stand" - +20% stability, +10% ideological drift defense. +30% recruit-able population Description: "Finally Belka, once again, stands whole and united behind one banner and one purpose. A few questions for the mod team. Do you have any plans to make changes to infrastructure that affects air combat? How are AAA, airfields, and radar stations going to be handled in Project Ulysses? In vanilla HOI IV, the main role of air power was to provide CAS and tip ground engagements into your favor. How will ground forces influence air combat aside from just capturing infrastructure? Do you have plans to make AA more or less powerful?

I'll be first to admit that it took me over three hours to understand just what the hell I was doing, though I might just be dumb.
why you chose to work with this game and not Wargame? I mean, in wargame units are rendered in and adding slots to planes for air combat, you can focus more on that . modding ammo also allows you to let planes more in the air. anyways fantastic job, I love the Ace Combat community!
It just occurred to me that during the events of Ace combat five, the razgriz are betrayed but they are still fighting yuktobania. Could this be portrayed in game by giving that squadron a national identity? Tldr is razgriz gonna be a country? @AceCombatFan

That would require giving Razgriz a parcel of land somewhere and a single aircraft carrier, most likely. ;) Considering Razgriz was pretty clandestine and assuredly were welcomed back home after Vincent Harling was readepted, it doesn't seem like it would be worth our time to create an event to carve a mini-country out of Osea for a few weeks. In short, the last third of AC5 doesn't really suit being represented mechanically in HOI4. We certainly can depict those events with the Osean nation 'losing' Wardog... a few days later Yuktobania 'loses' Hrimfaxi. Events pop up here and there about an Osean Carrier going rogue... photos of missile silos in North Osea being taken and then bam, eyewitness reports of the ArcBird being shot down... then bam, peace just like Nagase would have wanted! Assuming of course that the Osean and Yuktobanian players agree to such a thing... but that's verging into ahistorical mode. ;)
So, you mentioned making air combat more important, but I hope you don't buff it all that much tbh because it's not that air force is bad in normal HOI4, it just isn't that much fun to play with. If you just add a couple of layers of balance depth to make it more engaging(i.e. with how aircraft interact with superweapons, AA, each other, the ace squadrons etc) its gonna be enough, no need to make it too strong.
@Katarzyna D Our current plans are to have 4 plain ideologies - democracy, socialism, ultranationalism, and possibly monarchism. Because there are so few sources on ideologies and politicians in Strangereal, we feel this is about as in depth as we're willing to go.
I saw the Mod on the Steam Workshop. I was a bit disappointed cause at the time it was basic with only the map and no nations. I can't wait tell later on.
Question: Since Estovakia was split into several factions during the post-Ulysses civil war, is there a way for the players to choose which faction they'd like to control?
If they model it the same way as the Spanish Civil War in Hoi4, if you play estovakia and the nation splits, you’d probably get an event about which country to choose Just speculation though

How are our favorite aces going to be represented? Take Mobius One for example, will he be a unique aircraft unit or just the ace pilot for the 118th squadron?
How will advanced equipment (but non super weapon variety) with no default Hoi4 equivalent be implemented such as; SAMs, Mid Air refueling, modern cruise missiles, precision guided ordinance and anti-ballistic missile systems?
As is tradition in 4, Zero (for Ustio) and 6. Not in 7 since Osea's mainland was never threatened by Erusea, not counting a certain insane submarine captain.

This system is actually in hoi4 itself, the more experience a fighter or anything aerial gets, the more effective it is

Do you have any plans to make changes to infrastructure that affects air combat? How are AAA, airfields, and radar stations going to be handled in Project Ulysses?
In vanilla HOI IV, the main role of air power was to provide CAS and tip ground engagements into your favor. How will ground forces influence air combat aside from just capturing infrastructure? Do you have plans to make AA more or less powerful?

I never played the game this mod is for but I love ace combat and I love RTS's. I want to check this out, this looks like a lot of fun!
The game can be kind of overwhelming at first. But if you can power through it, there's lots enjoyment to be had.

I'll be first to admit that it took me over three hours to understand just what the hell I was doing, though I might just be dumb.

why you chose to work with this game and not Wargame? I mean, in wargame units are rendered in and adding slots to planes for air combat, you can focus more on that . modding ammo also allows you to let planes more in the air. anyways fantastic job, I love the Ace Combat community!

It just occurred to me that during the events of Ace combat five, the razgriz are betrayed but they are still fighting yuktobania. Could this be portrayed in game by giving that squadron a national identity? Tldr is razgriz gonna be a country? @AceCombatFan
Air Ixiom here. That would require giving Razgriz a parcel of land somewhere and a single aircraft carrier, most likely. ;)
Considering Razgriz was pretty clandestine and assuredly were welcomed back home after Vincent Harling was readepted, it doesn't seem like it would be worth our time to create an event to carve a mini-country out of Osea for a few weeks. In short, the last third of AC5 doesn't really suit being represented mechanically in HOI4. We certainly can depict those events with the Osean nation 'losing' Wardog... a few days later Yuktobania 'loses' Hrimfaxi. Events pop up here and there about an Osean Carrier going rogue... photos of missile silos in North Osea being taken and then bam, eyewitness reports of the ArcBird being shot down... then bam, peace just like Nagase would have wanted!
Assuming of course that the Osean and Yuktobanian players agree to such a thing... but that's verging into ahistorical mode. ;)
So, you mentioned making air combat more important, but I hope you don't buff it all that much tbh because it's not that air force is bad in normal HOI4, it just isn't that much fun to play with. If you just add a couple of layers of balance depth to make it more engaging(i.e. with how aircraft interact with superweapons, AA, each other, the ace squadrons etc) its gonna be enough, no need to make it too strong.

Our current plans are to have 4 plain ideologies - democracy, socialism, ultranationalism, and possibly monarchism. Because there are so few sources on ideologies and politicians in Strangereal, we feel this is about as in depth as we're willing to go.

Since Estovakia was split into several factions during the post-Ulysses civil war, is there a way for the players to choose which faction they'd like to control?
If they model it the same way as the Spanish Civil War in Hoi4, if you play estovakia and the nation splits, you’d probably get an event about which country to choose
