Portugal are cracking price for this at around 8/1....their squad is packed full of quality, as strong as any in the tournament, cant understand why they're twice the price of England and France.

James should watch a Dutch friendly game before saying they wont do well 37:50. It was a flawless performance defensively against Iceland, and the same 4-0 scoreline against Canada. Ok sure, those aren't exactly top teams, but the off the ball plan, shape and performance of the Dutch matters here.
That is to say the Dutch game was very much ready tactically. Juxtapose that to France drawing with Canada with a very lackluster performance, or England losing to Iceland, at home no less. Nothing against the two aforementioned favorites, who may click and grow in the tournament. But as of now, they're not ready for it to start.
I like Austria too, but picking a dark horse that has lost 3 of its best players to injury, seems completely wrong to me. Alaba used to carry them as the captain, Schlager is one of the most underrated players in Bundesliga, and the keeper with the same name has also been great.
People are stretching to think they could win the tournament or even reach the final without that triumvirate. Hungary or Ukraine are much better picks with 50% higher odds right now. Only buying back to lay tho.
Turkey are the second best side in their group, but their form in 2024 is abysmal. Only 1 draw in 4, and 3 bad losses, suggests they're an avoid side at best. In the final friendly against Poland their central defenders didn't look international level at all, and the defense failed to work as a unit. Kinda all over the place in negative transitions.
Demiral should be good enough, but unconvinced of his cb partner so far. Rarely follow Turkish superleague tho, so not gonna bet against them either. Attacking midfielders are exciting to watch tho, and Calhanoglu will score one from 30 yards.

Almost all British pundits, including Carragher, do not believe Italy can get 4 points. A win vs Albania and a draw vs Croatia/Spain. Are you serious?
A lot is made of the 2 England wins vs Italy in qualifiers. But remove the two Di Lorenzo penalty gifts and those games would be totally different. Both penalties came at critical moments in the games.
Agreed, qualifiers sometimes mean nothing. England went to Germany and beat them 5-1 in qualifying for the 2002 WC but it was the Germans that got to the final. And no matter how poor they are in qualifying you can never rule out the Italians once the tournament starts.
@djfez58 I just feel British pundits are not being objective with Italy. They are still held back by that Wembly final. Italy may not have a world beating team at the moment, but no way you unanimously write them off. Italy are good to beat Albania and get points off Croatia/Spain. And they will meet England somewhere in the early KO rounds. And no one should imagine that it will be a walk over for England
It’s a tough euros, if you look at the quality of the teams no one stands out, everyone keeps bumping on about England, their team looks quality no question there, the problem is you can make a case for Portugal, their team is fire as is Netherlands, Spain and France also, even Belgium, their line up player having the season of their lives,
My money is on Portugal, attacking, absolute quality players always underrated and no way should they be 8/1 no way!

Club Football might have better quality but it's so corrupt and wrong who cares. You have state sponsored nonsense outfits and Real Madrid the best club in Europe somehow get the best player available on the open market. Dammit...wanted Mark to tip england! I followed him and backed Italy last time as 8 to 1. I've been backing england for the first time in my life and was getting 6 to 1 and 5s so think I've done well. Our defense is much better than they say...its just filled with full backs
