Great job guys! Cazacanes reminds me how Fortaleza showed on your other blinds.
Slight differences in production can sway anyone, but alone, they stand because you know exactly what went into the juice. I personally love all Tapatio tequilas. Besides the value, they're just well mode. Can't wait to see an anejo and extra anejo blind.

Glad to see part 2 of the blancos. You guys turned me onto tequila and I have built up a small collection that will continue to grow. I noticed that the tequilas from Carlos Camarena do very well in your blind tastings with Tapatio having a good showing here. Looking forward to future tequila videos from you guys. Here’s to staying curious. Salud.

This was really interesting. I love hearing each of your descriptions and assessments. It guides me to know how to taste better and to be better in touch with my likes and dislikes with different pours. I enjoy your personalities and methods so much. I hope you’ll do more of these. Thank you!

Shocked! I love doing blinds.. You learn so much without brand bias.
Cazcanes is a favorite of mine... I just taste ripe slow cooked agave and its superb. Some people say they get parm/cheese, but rubber... That's crazy to me. I guess, that's why we are all different!
Not shocked about El Tequi, it's a great blanco. 7L is such a vegetal juice I'm surprised that word was not involved.
Great video guys, I love these! Looking forward to more and then the championship showdown!

Their No.7 is okay. Their No.9 is truly out of this world for me and is one of the best blancos I’ve ever had. Ranked closely to Volans Still Strength & 7 Leguas - Siete Decadas.
Of course, all of this is just my opinion.

I hope you keep going with this series. I'm a complete Tequila beginner and these videos helped me identify a couple bottles to pick up and try out. Now that I'm buying bottles I see how hard to find some of the bottles are - Fortaleza doesn't seem to exist in my city and the only G4 bottle that exists is Blanco (and those are hard to find). I was lucky enough to randomly decide that Tequila Ocho would be the first brand I bought (since drinking Patron and Cuevo in college)... I was pretty sure I would never like sipping a tequila but the Blanco and Reposado changed my mind.
That put me on the hunt to find the Anejo and Extra Anejo of Tequila Ocho... Can't find either in my area. I did find a store with El Tesoro Extra Anejo in a box for $100 but I didn't actually have my wallet on me at the time. I'll probably go back and pick it up tonight. My goal is to keep the Tequila collection much smaller the massive about of whiskey I own.

Im surprised you guys seemed to think el tequileno wouldnt do well, all their stuff is really really good, the anejo is amazing. It really does seem you guys do your bottle guesses more on your pre-conceived notion of where the brand should place, as opposed to your own tasting notes. I noticed it in either the other blanco, or the repasado vid, where you all talked about earthy one was (Forteleza) but, didnt put it there because it was lower in ranking, opting to guess it 1/2. It would be good to do a pre-tasting ranking guess on where you think theyll place... and then focus more on the tasting notes for the actual bottle guess

I haven’t seen results yet but the way you describe I am thinking Blue is Tapatio , Cazcanes is the rubbery one like a lot of Mezcals or I would say Band-Aids, the cheesy one automatically is Don Fulano. Siete Leguas is very vegetal and didn’t hear anyone say that so could be orange or yellow. El Tequileño is very distinct to me and could pinpoint it out in any blind so it’s either orange or yellow. Only going by your descriptions.

    Nice content!!!
I think a better Blind Taste Challenge would be for You to not even know what Tequilas You're even tasting.
Let your subscribers choose 5 Tequilas to taste and have them email their list to someone you know who will choose the Tequilas, label and pour the glasses for you and NOT tell you which Brands your tasting. Another twist you can add is for the "Nose" round use your "Color Labels" THEN have your designated pourer re-label the glasses with "Numbers" for the "Palate" round.
You would go through each round as you normally do with your critique and choose an overall favorite after the "Taste/Number" round.
I feel this way would remove any subconscious "skewing" of a favorite as you would not know which Brand to choose. You could supply a Blind Guess at the end to see if you know your Brands.
Anyway, I Great Info. Due to your 2 Blind Taste Challenges I have purchased Tequila Ocho and El Tequeliño and love them both.
    Thank You!!!

I’ve seen y’all do reviews of other tequila and bourbon brands, where their high proof counterpart was out-of-this-world delicious. Lending it to be almost incomparable to their lower proof counterpart. I must say, this is likely to be true with Cazcanes No.7 (80 Proof) blanco vs. Cazcanes No.9 (100 Proof) blanco. I’ve had others taste Cazcanes No.9 with me and consistently tell me how AMAZING it is, whereas with Cazcanes No.7, it’s always been… somewhat of a lackluster response… (could be some bias I cause, though, from having others taste the high proof first and then the lower proof second, myself included)
It’s so disappointing that may favorite blanco tequila - Cazcanes No.9 - had such a lame debut for their brand on this show because of their standard (80) proof No.7 release. I was looking forward to this episode forever, too! 😂😂😂

    • @CuriosityPublic
      @CuriosityPublic  9 месяцев назад +1

Cheers! We will be doing a high-proof blanco series like this as well. Stay tuned! Maybe the higher proof Cazcanes will do better!
By the way - Cazcanes reached out to us and is sending us a fresh bottle to compare with ours. They said have had a production/storage issue with their bottle stoppers that has been affecting flavor/aroma - so we'll see if we happened to have a tainted bottle.... Again, stay tuned!

    • @PanchoKnivesForever

Oh wow! This makes so much more sense! I had given in and started thinking Cazcanes No.7 was actually a bad blanco and something was just wrong with my palate 😂 hopefully this new bottle really is that different for y’all. Their No.9 takes the cake for me, though.
