This brings back memories of the failure of a large UPS at a datacenter where I used to work. The cause of the damage was, again, water entry, due to a failure of an A/C unit nearby.
Eaton sent a tech out to repair the unit. Less than 5 minutes later all the lights dimmed in the call center. Then we saw the Eaton tech being carried out to an ambulance.
As I understand it, he failed to check or disconnect a voltage source and got severe burns. The Eaton tech recovered, but we had an object lesson in properly paying attention to safety precautions. Shortly afterward, the people who managed the datacenter implemented stringent "lock out/Tag out" standards.

14:46 BP Voltage out of range" refers to Bypass Voltage out of range in Eaton UPS systems, which occurs when there’s no AC power connected. By default, the UPS only starts when main power is present. You can bypass this by holding down the power button after the UPS initially turns on, allowing it to start without wall power or a phase. There is also a setting in the UPS to enable startup on battery power.
As a side note, if you start the UPS without grid power, it will have a random phase direction. If you later connect it to wall power, the UPS will sync with the grid within a ±0.5Hz range, which is another configurable setting.

I know there are tons of affordable units that are essentially plug and play, but I could totally watch a video where you outline how to properly speck a UPS based on your needs (how much do you have plugged into it, how long do you need it to run, is this just to clean up dirty power, etc.), if it makes sense to buy a second hand unit, and what different battery options there are out there.

This is the reason that if you're gonna go with liquid cooling you should use mineral oil, not water. Mineral oil is nonconductive and most things won't dissolve in it meaning if you have a good enough filter to catch the metal particulates from the pump, a leaking cooling system filled with mineral oil won't cause nearly as many problems as one filled with water.

And at least here in Europe (well, at least in the German speaking part of Europe, not sure abeut the rest) they most of the time also have the sign "gS" beside the diode sign stamped on them. They both mean the same. As far I know gS stands for the two German words Geräteschutz Superflink what means device protection and superfast. Couple of things worthy of note for capacitors: Just because they are rated for say 600 volts doesn’t mean that they ever had 600 volts on them. Second of all, if there’s bleeder resistors on the board before touching anything short across the traces for the capacitors with something like a screwdriver. As soon as you do that you’ll be safe because the bleeder resistors will prevent those capacitors from charging up again. For the people who aren’t electrical engineers, capacitors can charge to a significant voltage if you don’t have a load on them, they are able to do that by picking up charged particles in the air and slowly building up a charge. That is why you always leave high voltage capacitors shorted out when they aren’t in use.

I absolutely love the message of REUSE first (because let's be fair: this IS reuse, not repair). Most fixes that end up working like this, tend to be about as easy. If you need to actually _repair_ something (not just swapping it out for a "similar" thing and hoping for the best), the chances of it working go down sharply unless you actually know what you're doing. But the good news is, people get rid of stuff not because it can't be fixed, but because _they can't be bothered to deal with it._ But remember that an hour of your time isn't "free" either - it sometimes makes sense to actually pay the money (if you normally sell an hour of your time at $35, ordering a broken $30 thing and then spending 2 hours to fix it, that's $100... maybe that $80 part is worth it ;P).
