Historic hotels that have functioned as hotels since their inception are rare; thus, The Manila Hotel is exceptional. Launched in 1912, this 111-year-old hotel continues to stand and serve on the same grounds it was built. It is the first and oldest 5-star hotel in Manila. I'm happy to have finally visited it and bask in its glorious history that has seen the Filipino people through the best and the most challenging times. Its rich heritage is intertwined with the country’s history and the city's identity.
