This theme is so much better than the sequels. It’s so deep and mysterious, with hint of sadness hiding behind Edit: Also with his origin story out of the way, there’s potential for such a good movie in this style. There’s still potential for this to reappear in Doctor Strange 3
Never thought I'd say I like the first DS movie more than the second, but I do. Edit: this one, even though it was playing it safe and too close to the well-established Marvel formula at the time, captured the essence of Doctor Strange in a way the second film simply couldn't. And the score dances in unison with the direction so incredibly well - I only appreciate this film more and more with time. Beautiful movie.
In my opinion, the first movie focused a lot more on Strange's story, his learning of the mystic arts, the mirror dimension, the ancient one.'s secret and Dormamu. Strange felt like the main character here, it was a safe but interesting introduction. The second one is more like Wanda or America's movie, because Marvel needs it to glue its cinematic universe and for the fan service (Cameos of Reed Richards, Professor X). I wish they did something more "individual" with Nightmare or Mordo (waste of a character), Clea (who was only in the post-scene credit), they could've even introduced Zelma.
@@ness3547 It is pretty disappointing what they did with Mordo, he was very interesting and I was looking forward to how he would challenge Strange, but I guess we'll never get that.
@@chocov1233 yes, Sadly Mordo only deserved the " He turned evil because he was jealous" explanation and that's it. I wish they didn't put him in the movie, he could've been easily replaced with another character, like an 838 version of Wong who serves the illuminati.
It wasn't formulaic imo, It tried something new, introducing a morally clear character, who is ready to break rules, do unthinkable stuff to protect reality... He is the master of mystic arts and he Dr. Strange
He should of been Multiverse of Madness's composer. He truly understood the sound that fit the franchise. I don't think Danny Elfman did a very good job.
@@Legocatshouse They tried to lure Spider-Man fans 🤣Everyone loves Tobey's and Batman's theme but they have to accept that Danny Elfman doesn't do good film scoring any more. Take Justice League for example, he tried to be too original which is not good because he has ran out of iconic ideas a while ago. Now multiverse of madness, he used Giacchino's score for 10 seconds, trying to be too original 🤦
@@nimislaknumis4615exactly, this is my problem with these people... Throughout the Dark Knight Trilogy the Batman Theme by Zimmer got used multiple times and it felt good.... On the other hand the best themes of Dr Strange were not used... Elfman has gone numb, he doesn't understand the character of strange like Giachino does, he just made a forgettable score
For hippocratic hypocrite 8:35, I was really struck by how regretful the tune sounded. As a doctor, strange was brilliant but he was a hypocrite to some extent due to his arrogance, yet even as he is humbled, whenever he has to make a kill he is also a hypocrite. That tune seemed to be filled with a wistful mumbling, and it suits strange so well because despite emerging victorious in almost every of his cameos, he never seemed to win in a way that is a happy victory, be it stuck in an endless loop of dying and mordo leaving, having to sacrifice iron man in a play of universal chess and losing his job as sorceror supreme, having to sacrifice parker in universal chess the sequel, and having to watch wanda destroy herself in multiversal chess. A piece truly ahead its time, also I love the alliteration, the oxymoron and the connotations the title held. beautiful
I love your videos!! this helps me so much while I am studying :) you had more earlier but now are hidden, there was one with more marvel songs that I absolutely loved 🥺

Doctor Strange (2016) Really is top Marvel. It's brilliant.

I've finally found it. Michael used this theme whe Parker was searching for the Sanctum Sanctorum. But with a little twist.
This is my inspirational cooking music. Has anyone noticed how much it sounds like the newer star trek movies music?
it?s because the composer is the same dude (Michael Giaccino i thin it was)
Exactly my thought.
