But not an answer to why he “hates” the question.... Once I heard “none of your fucking business” (aka “people helped me but I’m ashamed to say it”), I was out. Now we hear interestingly worded phrases like “I earned everything in here”. It’s weird & lets me know there’s a whole section of knowledge being kept secret (if I’m trying to do what he’s doing....or just be successful). Plenty of youtubers open up their full finance spreadsheets & revenue paths/details. This isn’t an odd question. It’s odd answers....unfortunately.
I don’t care how you can afford to do this. I enjoy watching your process. You obviously work your ass off and I admire that about you!! Thanks for the content Jon!!
Amygdalos totally agreed. I hope his next big plan is to buy or get build his own place. He’s very talented so I have no doubt that one day he will be recognized and so I could own his place.
Agree but he's been clever enough to do the room in a room style so he can take this somewhere else if needed, but the current location is the dogs balearics as they say
Because in Germany you can only rent. German big cities are crowded, they want cheap working force in order to strengthen German economy. This is why you can't find nice place to rent, not to mention if you want to buy one. You would need millions.
I've had a few of my friends who think I'm some rich spoiled kid for having a pretty decent studio in my room. But everything was bought by me, repaired, built or just plain saved up. It's all about priorities. Didn't go out to eat with friends, go drinking etc for years honestly. Totally get what you mean. Mad respect Jon
You truly are an inspiration bro! It's nobody's business how you afford your gear. It's clear you work hard so it's self explanatory. Work hard Play harder!
Jon just a Heads Up, Loudness + Sqaure meters means more money, and I don't know who your advisers are but be very careful, some of the things you talk about on your blog, that I've followed for many years, are a little miss guided. I come from many years of audio (50) and seen many things from analogue to digital and now the creation of digital analogue, from Abbey Road to mega Westlake ( Rock&Roll Studios) on the west coast of America and around the world, to me "all that counts is what it sounds like on my 1970 BoomBox/Smart Phone and in my Car, nothing else really counts now does it....as long as your producing great music all the time, people will come and knock on your studio door because they get off on your sound not your studio. Keep up the great work......
Hey Jon. You seem to have very nice thing going on there in the studio. Congrats❤️ As a mastering engineer for many years here in Finland I would suggest that you invest to the room and finish it with Trinnov ST2 Pro - that is pure gold. That outboard gear is great and I’ve had almost all of those that you have now bought - we all love the gear but you really dont need all of those. That is not money well spend. 1 color eq and comp and thats it - Like that tegeler creme you have there, very nice product and maybe that bettermaker eq, and return rest of them!!!! The plugins are so good and are going to be even better every day. Am almost sure you are going to regret if you stay with all that gear because its nice to have that stuff - but its pointless. I know you may not be interested of my opinion but I just had to say it. Ps. I’ve enjoyed your your music
Great video Jon you have just addressed many questions I've kept to myself but wondered as a subscriber. I rarely post in these comment sections but just wanted to say I've really enjoyed your videos! Your content and advice always seems to be from your prospective which seems to be from trail and error and most importantly what works for you. You project a laid back matter-of-factness Instead of the condescending air many other RUclipsr's imploy which is really refreshing. Just wanted you to know you inspired me with your hidden keyboard studio desk build awhile back from your old studio. I took your plans and changed the deminsions slightly to work with my gear which I built during the pandemic. Keep up the Great work and content! Rick, Duluth, GA, USA
Jon, your backwards on the front vs the back of the room. You want the front to be absorbent and the back reflective. In the front you want to kill reflections that are going to smear your transients, reverb and panning placement. In the back you want reflective(diffusion) to make the space sound larger.
Dude, you deserve everything you've been working for. Life's not fair, so it's definitely worth it when we can win at it; especially people like yourself that do their best to give back. Thanks for the Q&A. I don't think you're shady or anything. I've been following your for quite a while and you demonstrate a great work ethics. Keep the good work. =D
For the room correction on the digital side of things, you have to check the Trinnov ST2 Pro with it's 3D microphone. Low latency, external box, won't bog down your system at all and it is what they use in movie theaters and big installations. The BBC is using it, too. It does frequency, timing and phase corrections. It is expensive (4-5 grand) but definitely worth considering to get your studio flat as the earth ;-) Big up, from Hollywood!
Fairplay to you sir, and your upfront chilled honesty is a good quality to have, get it finished big sir, looks amazing and we look forward to more of this journey.....
Honestly I’m really proud and inspired by what you have accomplished. Starting this year I am going to the Berkeley school of music and I am majoring in contemporary song writing and production. Hopefully one day I can be as successful as you. Also your music smacks..❤️
Your explanation with regards to the floor absorbtion made sense. I always wondered why you put 40cm in the walls and some in the ceiling and so little in the floor (compared to the thickness of the walls). Going to improve treatment in my studio as well after seeing the extent you are going to.
Hey Jon, the studio is coming together so incredible! I can see that it will be so awesome man! Your moves are so inspiring and your work ethic makes me want to always improve my studio. Thanks man!
I don’t know how you can be a producer and consistently make music then also mix and master other peoples music. That’s pretty beastly. I had to quit the production stuff because it was so time consuming and not worth the time put into it(16 hours a day) to become a full time mastering engineer. It’s much more gratifying and actually pays the bills. Only took me 20 years to realize it
Because he has a professional setup so he can mix and master a song in just an hour or two. One day he can crank out A LOT of songs... probably, just guessing.
Setting prioritys is really the key to beeing able to finance new gear. While other people spend a lot of money on clothes and hollidays I invest my money into music equipment, and because of that I can not afford a driving license XD
I think producers should focus on getting good at their craft and developing their ears before they worry about acoustic treatments. They should learn what they’re hearing before they concentrate on blocking those frequencies out.
Hey man, always good content, come along way from when I first watched you. But I just want to make sure you're spending something on security, your studio location looks fairly remote
Your hard work and dedication has been super inspirational for me, thanks! Have you tried out the PSI avaa active bass trap? Maybe it could help you out with your 30hz problem. I would also love to know if an expensive solution like that improves the low end in a small small studio. Cheers from South America!
you should get a cooling pad for your macbook (with fan) i have it and it helps performence incredibly good! it's also cheap. i recommend the GXT Trust 220
now that you're adding lights to your studio, are you also gonna install a train horn. I would be awesome for whenever a train passes by and you turn on your horn lol
It might be my impression, but very recently I've noticed that Jon tracks seem to be a little bit harsh (mixes are more precise, but they feel just a little too digital), not sure how I can explain, but to my hears I think that Jon's new studio A with such good acoustic treatment could be leading Jon to take out too much of the warmth that I got used to like in his tracks. I hope I'm wrong, but somehow in recent videos, Jon's tracks seem a little too technical / precise, much less muddy, which is all great, but less warm as well, not sure how to explain better.
Da muss ich dringend was machen....
Do you make any underground or more experimental records or do you just like more commercially focused EDM? The quality of your productions is superb but the music isn't really my taste.
My rule is: does it serve to my music ? If not and it's pretty or I have the money I don't buy it, if the answer is yes, then I don't care if I dinner water for a few months... xD
Jon I love your videos but whenever they come on I have to turn down the volume because they’re masters >4x louder than every other video I watch and then when it’s done I have to turn the volume back up..
Just quick follow up must say that I agree with jaykons1985 comments you could be directing your hard earned money into more dedicated things maybe like upgrading your old Mac Pro that I see laying around its still a great computer I still use my Mac Pro 5,1 and its solid and reliable.. ha just food for thought
12:24 I first noticed your phone, it's iPhone SE I think, and that is really wise. Priorities in check indeed. I'm quite sure you could buy something more expensive, but it wouldn't really add any value to what you're doing right now.
Pretty sure money questions are from younger audience who doesn't maybe see this as business. BTW you could buy outdoor surveillance camera and mount that to center of the wall and project that inside to HUGE canvas!! :D big window haha
It is a fair question which I also ask myself. You’re constantly changing studios and swapping MacBooks as if they are shoes. But kudos that you do all of this from your own efforts on music.
I really appreciate the honesty this guys has in him.

So wholesome to see Jon sacrificing everything else that interferes in his music career. You are an inspiration to many Jon! Keep it up bro:)
I don’t care how you can afford to do this. I enjoy watching your process. You obviously work your ass off and I admire that about you!! Thanks for the content Jon!!
For me as an external observer, the biggest downside of your studio is that you rent the building. I actually would qualify that as a risk.
Ludovic Carceles true. On the other hand he built the new studio modular. So i guess it would be relatively easy to move most of the stuff.
Amygdalos totally agreed. I hope his next big plan is to buy or get build his own place. He’s very talented so I have no doubt that one day he will be recognized and so I could own his place.
The issue is that the house is on a property which belongs to a company or a company that bought the whole place the house is standing on.
Agree but he's been clever enough to do the room in a room style so he can take this somewhere else if needed, but the current location is the dogs balearics as they say

when your shoes have holes you know you have good priorities.
I see it differently, always spend more on things that connect you to the ground
"How am I affording all of this?" That's a question I ask myself everytime I make a purchase ... 😂
me too😂
Same tbh
I asked myself that too and decided it's none of my business.
It usually around about the time the mrs starts asking that I worry..
did jon sine already make a video like ? like a year or two ago ??😳😳

Still waiting for the day when underwater is finally released
Agreed!
Not to forget the channel with its 102K subscribers :-) And you're doing a good job with it making daily vlogs. Kudos.
Looking forward to the release of the full underwater track. Sounds pretty good.

Drooling over that Bettermaker Limiter. Will you do video of how you use it ever?
Yes. Just want to make sure I’ve used it enough

Hi. In the beginning of this Q&A you showed a led light strip that you control via your desktop. What brand/model is that ?
I think producers should focus on getting good at their craft and developing their ears before they worry about acoustic treatments. They should learn what they’re hearing before they concentrate on blocking those frequencies out.
all i have is .. Headphone and Pc.. And two fans.. i released , we enjoy...😁😁😂😂 Happiness
What kinda fabric is he using to cover up the rock wool?
Very good info on acoustic treatment
5:00 A big glass panel with no barrs in the midle would be awesome
what speakers are you using in this video? Your video description still shows the Yamahas!

Jon Sine Bank rolled by a Saudi Prince who love banger tracks 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Please google the dangers of LED lights. Some color spectrums can cause irreversible damage to the retina.
So a 50000 studio for 10000 its a pretty good deal, and a good amount of work but if its what you have to do to get it, seems a fair deal
Constructing, constructing, constructing...

get your mom and dad's paintings for the studio
