the dance teachers character is one of my favorites. Going into the arts is such a vulnerable place to be. To have an instructor who cares and is empathic is so beautiful .

This show made me not even care if he got accepted or not because I was just feeling like no matter if he gets in or not, this was more than what the acceptance would mean. This dance was what he NEEDED. This was his HEALING. Of course, I still wanted him to get in. But at some point for me, it didn't matter because it wasn't about the school. This was about him and who he was. Him coming to accept himself and feel what he felt without shame. And when a show can give you all those emotions *in less than AN HOUR?!* Girl-- 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I have shed a tear or two watching series or films before, BUT non has every made me feel the way this one has. I can relate, to this day I can relate, I was beaten, cast aside, made to feel less than simply because of my sexual preference This particular episode had me bawling, yes you read right, BAWLING whilst he was dancing, I was so transfixed, I moved and that hug of acceptance at the end was .... I can't even find words to express how I felt in the moment, I had tears running down my face. I cried when papi got kicked out and man I cried when he was accepted in the house again. So this is by far the BEST series I have every watched, is some ways it was a reflection of some of the struggles I have faced as a member of the Lbgtq community. POSE ---- LOVE IT.
As great as the actual dance is, I am in love with how Helena is throughout this entire scene, especially with all the subtle encouragement she gives to Damon. Her amused chuckles, the way she reminds him to smile, that heartfelt hug at the end. We stan a teacher who cares!

If u recall in the show...the teacher had another student who was just as passionate and probably at the time...felt just as alone and trapped as Damon did. She gave him a home and saw him thrive in his element. I feel she was having SEVERE emotional Deja Vu watching Damon open his heart for the 1st time WITHOUT fear of persecution... and seeing how much Blanca loves him as if he was her own son....there was NO WAY she was gonna turn him away...

I dance and sing, and just being able to express yourself with your body is a blessing, but can be very emotionally draining and leave you vunerable... you can end up expressing things you didn't know you were even feeling, like where tf did THAT come from? Lol This was really the first time Damon got to fully express himself without fear or hiding who he really is... he put it all out there and was fully ready to be rejected and shamed... that crying was his release.
Technically it could have been better, but My HEART is so Full. I FELT THAT! He gave them Everything, and the hug...that hug said I See you...I See You!
the ending is so beautiful because till that point he had been through so much, being kicked out of his home for being gay, sleeping on the streets, and when he showed his dancing, he gave everything he knew he could give to be given a chance back in this world, so he just bawls and when the teacher embraces him it's like she gets his struggle just with a look in his eyes, it's just so damn beautiful :((((

I can imagine how some kids felt during that time when there were cassettes and no one liked that song but they did so they had to play it at home when no one was around but now we have technology and we can listen to whatever we want
