    Some informations:
    1. Some church bells ring every 15 minutes to tell you the time
    2. WC or "water closet" is a British thing as far as I know
    3. Toilets do cost between 50 cents and 1 euro in public spaces or at festivals but not in restaurants or cinemas etc.
In malls and at highway gasstations you get a coupon of the same amount back, that way it is free for customers.
    4. For fishing you need a fishing license, to make sure that you know what you are doing. For most lakes and rivers you will also need a permit from the local fishing club. All this is to protect nature. Even kids are able to get a fishing license.
    5. If you only see old people in Germany, it could be that you are sitting outside a caffee at 11am and every young person is in school or at work. This is prime time for seniors even in the city.
    6. It is only "Weißwurst" (white sausage) that you eat without the skin.

      7. You can be sure you will not be sued if you lift any of your arms in order to call a taxi. You have to do this in the clear intention of doing the Hitlergruß. It's quite easy to tell why somebody lifted his arm in a specific manor.
      8. You won't be fined 100k just fo washing your car. If you loose a lot of oil and do a lot of damage to the environment, this can look different though. These are 'up to' values for extreme situations used as clickbait.
      9. Amazon indeed tends to dropoff packages when nobody's at home, most other services in Germany don't do this, at least where I live.

W = Water Closet, CM = Center Management, P = Parking (Car Park, Parking lot). He then said "you can go right there, there's no queue (like in standing in line). The clip with the girl being hopelessly overdressed, the German version says "OMG, look at you! Are you going to go to the Reeperbahn, or what?" (Reeperbahn means the red light district of Hamburg, where you can actually find girls sitting in a shop window waiting for "customers"). If a truckage company does it willingly without preparing a washing place for their trucks (water waste hold up tank and filter) they probably get a fine of 100k as the pollution can be much worse.
There are often fines (money) and prison sentences defined. Sentences are for the worst cases... Let's say the truckage company was already fined three years ago with 100k for washing their fleet without taking care. Now the officials caught them again and found out they have done that on a regular base (willingly and knowingly / intentionally) causing the fish in the nearby river got poisoned and died. The companies executive can be imprisioned up to two years and even more, if they broke other laws at the same time.

When I was 13 we lived in Germany for a few years. At that time, I decided to furnish my room myself and go to the local DIY market to order wood cuts for the appropriate furnitures. I asked a staffer about the best ways to join these pieces and where to find them at what aisle in the market. He sighed and said he was on lunch break now, but showed us where to find the parts he recommended. And he spent half an hour of his time explaining the pros and cons of the various joining methods, and even what equipment to use. I think that even if Germany is still a service desert, there are still staffers for whom service is a important part of the job, because they work in such jobs.

    Interesting tiktoks :D
    To the first one:
    1. Yeah, looks like he is in a smaller town, and depending on the time and day you mostly meet older people (besides from the fact that our population is quite old in general)
    2. The "they don't care about you" is not because he's black (yeah, we have a lot of racism as well, but it's different to the racism in America), but we usually don't care as much about people we don't know.
    4. The bell he mentions are our churches, they usually have one gong at :15, two gongs at :30, three gongs at :45, and four gongs plus the amount of hours (in 12-hour format) in lower-pitched gongs at the full hour.
    To the second one:
WC stands for "Water Closet", but it's British English, so no wonder you don't know the abbreviation :D And Q is queue, for "queue line".
    The third one:
The German is: "Sach mal wie siehst du denn aus? Willst du auf die Reeperbahn oder was?" (How the f*** do you look like? Do you want to go to the Reeperbahn [famous red light district in Hamburg] or what?) and yeah, in Germany you only dress like this when you either want to go to the red light district or you go to a high-society party.
    The forth one:
Yes, you need a license for fishing, in order to get one you have to pass a written exam, it is mostly so that you learn about the ecology of the waters and the fish.
And yes, washing your car at home is forbidden, because the grime and oils pollute the water. The washing facilities also have quite strict regulations in water storage, filtering und recycling.
She rose her arm not in the forbidden way, you are not allowed to do a Hitler salute, it's showing a sign of an unconstitutional group.

Bathroom: Most signs will say "WC" for "water closet" (based on the English patent for a "water-closed" siphon in the toilet bowl); in some places you could also find the older "00" sign - the room number many hotels assigned to the toilet room in times when there was only one toilet per floor. In spoken language the room is often called "Toilette" (from French) or simply "Klo" (as abbreviation for "Klosett"), but since the latter was in former times perceived as ungracious and ill-mannered, there are also other words like "Lokus" (from Latin "locus necessitatus" - place of necessity / nature's call) or its diminutive translation "Örtchen", sometimes "stilles Örtchen" (silent small place). Older words are "Abtritt" or "Abort", which meant originally an outhouse (or "Scheißhaus"). But "bathroom" will confuse many Germans. The "Q" stands for "queue".
6:14 He asks her "Do you want to go to the Reeperbahn, or what?" - the Reeperbahn being the center street of the famous red-light district in Hamburg. (Originally "Reeperbahn" was the place where long ropes were produced by braiding yarns (or thinner ropes) together, for which you needed a long, straight alley).

In Germany, Switzerland and Austria you have to take an exam before you are allowed to fish anywhere - if you pass, you get a fisher's license (of fisher's patent in Switzerland). For most rivers and lakes you need also fishing license by the owner of the place (which can also be the municipality itself). So need even two types of license (but you can get the second one only if you have already the first one). (For the exam you have for example to show you know your fishes, know which ones you're allowed to catch and how to catch them, know how to kill a fish cleanly without cruelty and so on. Catching a fish only for instagram purposes is by the way considered to be cruelty to animals.)
In Germany you are free to roam, but not to hunt or fish on private or public property except with an appropriate license by law and by the property holder (which includes the state or the municipality in some cases).
Washing your car at home can be judged as environmental crime if any poisonous substances get into nature or (depending on local rules) into the sewer system, especially oil. (Municipalities can allow washing the car at places where all the dirt water flows securely into the sewage system, if that system is built to be capable of handling and filtering such substances.) The fine can vary widely depending on state, but also on the real or possible damage caused. The widest range has Saxony with fines between 25 and 100,000 Euro, the smallest range Baden-Württemberg and NRW with 500 to 50,000 Euro, the lowest maximum fines Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein with 25,000 Euro.
The divider thing is a bit arbitrary. Most customers do it automatically, because it is considered to be the polite thing if there is another customer waiting behind you.
Raising the arm: It is only a problem with the right arm and if it looks like doing the Hitler salute (stiff arm, flat hand). It is illegal if the context suggests it was meant as Hitler salute, because doing the Hitler salute is considered to glorify or at least trivialize the Nazi crimes and the Nazi terror.

Package carriers in Germany are only allowed to leave it at a specified place (like behind the house or under the stairs...), if the customer has submitted a signed permission with the exact location. But there are different parcel services with slightly different rules and of course many carriers just want to be quick and leave it before the door. It is also located in a region with very beautiful nature. The people there are not always unfriendly, but it can happen that they ignore you or react unfriendly. However, this has nothing to do with whether you are black or white. A lot of African refugees and immigrants live here, who are now shaping the cityscape. Of course, some old-fashioned people don't like that, hence the lack of open-mindedness. And last but not least, even though the city was very nice and safe, it now has a small crime and drug problem. Japan for example has the most oldest people in the world, you can find people around and over 100 years of age easily. In Germany elder care and medical basic standards are pretty good (still), so that counts for something as well. ;) Given that the US has the highest maternal d* rate and the highest for infants during and after birth and a rather unpleasent social system, of course people are finished faster and the population seems "younger". - On the bicycle, the actual reason is that you're participating in traffic while drunk/intoxicated. As long as you don't bother anyone you can be as drunk as you'd like while being a pedestrian.
    - Package couriers leaving slips, legally the seller is responsible for the package until it gets into the customers hands, so if the delivery person just leaves it on the door step and it gets picked up, it's the sellers problem for which he is going to sue the delivery company for damages incurred. The package is not considered delivered until it's in the hands of the person on the shipping label, so hand it to a neighbour -> delivery not complete, leave it in the stairway -> delivery not complete. You can give the delivery company a spot where they can put packages and they're considered aas delivered without you involved, but if it gets stolen it's your problem, so nobody does that. Amazon drivers do like to leave stuff in stairways though, and when it gets stolen, Amazon just picks up the tab, hence why they now send you one-time-passwords you personally have to tell the delivery driver upon delivery for the more expensive and obvious items.

The sausage is a Bavarian Weißwurst. This is strictly a Bavarian thing.
The casing of Weißwürste is artificial (basically plastic), while almost all other sausages use natural, edible casing.
A sausage is: kill an animal, grind it down and stuff it up its own intestines.
If you still have parts left, stuff them in the stomach. (like im Pfälzer Saumagen or Scottish haggis).

    • @Moonchild0
      @Moonchild0 10 месяцев назад +3

The casing is not plastic. It's the outer skin of the intestine. And yes it works like a condom, since the flesh/bacon pieces inside is more mushy before it comes into the casing. And before that it will be seasoned - it's depends from sausage to sausage. So the casing holds everything together. Then the sausages dry out for weeks and months. This makes the flesh inside the sausage cut-resistant and durable. Weißwurst (white sausage) casing should not be eaten. Though many casings are edible and more biological!

The fines for certain misconduct in Germany can get pretty high in a few cases because monetary fines are based on the income of the individual being punished. Depending on the misconduct you have committed you get an amount of "Tagessatz" or "daily rate" which is basically a 30th of your average daily net income. You then have to pay this 30th for the ordered amount of days. So if you are really rich you would pay a much bigger fine, this way fines as a judicative punishment don't lose it's effectiveness against people who are rich in money. That being said the upper limit of a Tagessatz is 30.000€ and many times the rates end up lower because the income they are calculated by is only an approximation by the court which legal defense can certainly have an impact on.

Someone with an average income will never get close to the maximum fine. Also, regarding that raised arm gesture, it's not illegal. If it IS the actual gesture from nazi time and recgnizable as such, it is, but of course you can raise your arm to call a cab (especially since it was the left arm in the video). Public toilets in Germany are marked by WC or 00. Washing the car at home is not okay because of the ecological damage you can cause. But you would never get a fine. May be a neighbour would ask you not to do it. 1. If you come to Germany: There are Church-Bells. It is possible, that 24/7 they will ring all 15 minutes. Deal with it or don't come here.
    2. Toiletts should be named toilett, not bathroom or restroom. Its not for batheing or resting.
    3. Don't believe all tiktoks telling you weird stories about being fined horribly for minor rule violations.
    4. parcel delivery went bad when capitalistic companies took over that business, and treat their employees like slaves.

  • @petebeatminister
    @petebeatminister 10 месяцев назад +5

The parcel delivery thing depends totally on the delivery service, or even on the driver working there. For example,I never have a problem with DHL or Amazon Logistics. On the other hand failure is guaranteed with DPD. They never deliver on the first day, and always blatently lie about having tried to find the adress or that nobody was home when they came. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row. And then, on the last possible occassion, they miraculously find the adress and ring the door bell. But they are the cheapest in postage, I think.

church bells ring every 15teen minutes to give information about time. bells ring differently for full hours, half hours and quarter hours. one single ring bell for quarter past the hour, 2 for half an hour and so on till full hour is announced with ring bells in number of the full hour (for example 7am with 7 ring bells). I am german and I live 50 meters away from a church on 4th level and I hate it too. xD

6:57 you need the licenses not for putting the rod in the water, that you can do, if you have a friend with you with a licenses.
you need the licenses for the appropriate art of killing of vertebrates. You should not torment the animal, which you do, when you don't have the right knowledge.
The same goes for hunting. You are allowed to hold/transport the weapon, when you have someone with the license next to you, but you are not allowed to pull the trigger.

About the woman in this blue dress: The German guy is asking her, if she is going to the "reeperbahn" which is a big place in hamburg with lot's of brothels and strip clubs. So he is accusing her of looking like a prostitute.
About the driving drunk on bikes - also when you cross a red light as a pedestrian or with a bike you can loose your drivers license.

Dresscode US/Germany the german guy said: "How tf are YOU dressed? You going to the 'Reeperbahn' or smth?"
The 'Reeperbahn' is Germanys most famous red light/pleasure district since forever. He literally asked her if she's a prostitute.

  • @assemblememe
    @assemblememe 10 месяцев назад

    - In Germany people would think you're a prostitute wearing that blue dress + white boots, that's basically what the guy says.
    - It's true you need a license for fishing.
    - Regarding the car wash thing, lots of people used to do it anyways when I was a kid, though it's been a while since I've seen it frequently.
    - The devider thing at the supermarket is bullsh*t. Noone will judge you if there is not much going on in the supermarket. Just if it's crowded.
    - The girl apparently doesn't know how the Hitler salute looks like, cause that's why you could get the prison sentence.
    - There are indeed laws about driving bicycles drunk, but the thresholds for alcohol in your blood are higher than what is allowed when driving a car.
    - You have to fill out a form for each logistic company delivering packages if you want to allow them to leave the stuff in front of your door, in your backyard, wherever. (We did, life is much easier now)
    - This is "white sausage", which is traditional in Bavaria/southern Germany, it's the one sausage you eat without the case

  • @jensbaranek8322

Driving a bicycle drunk: It's more complex. In fact you may drive a bicycle drunk up to 1.6 promille, as long you don't have a driving license at all. If you have a driving license, you will lose it above 0.8 promille riding a bike. But in case of you causing an accident, even 0.3 promille is the critical border.

    1. Germany has a high percentage of old people, mostly in smaller towns because there is no work.
    2. Churches chime every hour, not every 5 mins.
    3. WC is water closet from British English. P stands for Parking lot. CM, no idea, isn't sth. common in shopping malls.
    4. The comment to the lady with the blue dress from the guy is an insult,he says:' What the heck, what do you look like? Do you want to go to the Reeperbahn?' Reeperbahn is an area in Hamburg where many prostitutes run around. He insinuates that she is dressed like a prostitute....
    5. Yep,you need a licence for fishing. You're not allowed to be caught washing your car, because the oil goes into the sewage which is often filtered for drinking water. You are allowed to raise your arm to wave, but not to show a Nazi sign. You are allowed to ride drunk, but don't get caught by police, because then you can lose your driver's licence.
    6. The postage guy has no time to carry the package to the door, because of the reasons you mentioned.
    7. That sausage is a 'Weißwurst', which is a typical Bavarian sausage which you boil and eat with pretzel and sweet mustard and drink beer. It's delicious! I also eat it with the skin, but it's common to eat it without. Every other sausage in Germany you always eat the skin. With this one it is an exception.Oh and the speckles in the sausage are green herbs 'parsley'.😂

5:05 WC actually stands for "watercloset". Great guess! P is for Parking. I don't know about the CM tho and I've never seen it before. Since it's inside a mall maybe it stands for "cash machine" (ATM) or "customer management". But usually we use ATM or a cash symbol for those signs in Germany and "infopoint" or a small i symbol for the information desk.

11:58 A Munich Weißwurst (white sausage). The dark bits are herbs. This boiled sausage is traditionally eaten without the casing (although it is edible), and it is white because it contains no potassium or sodium nitrite (pickling or curing salt, added for food preservation to most meats).

Weird that he was confused by the dark spots though. Don't they have any spices in sausages in the US? I mean, maybe it's not as obvious as in Weißwurst, but many types of sausage have herbs in them like that.

We have to, depending on which State you live in, do something similar to a drivers license test for fishing. It's getting easier with the years but at least some years ago you have a couple thousand questions as well as classes in the evening in my state
