    I was hoping to see you open one up to show how the components go together for those of us trying to repair old microscopes.

    Cool, but when you said "teardown" I was expecting you to actually take it apart to see how the parts inside work :)

    Good video. Loved how the objective lens rotate.
    Very clever mechanism. I saw a finger print on one of the lenses. What is your recommendation for removing it? Thank you for taking the time to create these videos.
    I am retired and have recently become interested in microscopy. Just purchased a small stereo unit and a medical trinocular one with a USB 3.0 5 megapixel camera and dark field attachment. Looking forward to spending the coming winter pursuing this new hobby.
    Thank you.

    I looking Into picking up a Stereo microscope, and the model I'm looking at comes either with halogen lighting or led lighting. Other than less heat emitted and maybe longer life with the leds, is it worth the extra cost of going with the led lighting? An accessory offered is a dark field iris that can be added. Does dark field work well with a Stereo microscope?

    What is the exact working distance in inches or centimeters above the stage to the barlow lens when using the supplied eyepieces of 10X and 20x with the 1X barlow or objective lens?
    Is the working distance below the objective greater with a non zoom microscope as opposed to the stereo microscope with a zoom function?

    How complex is it to clean the internal optics of both zoom objectives in the microscope featured in this video?

    I would really like a kind of detailed description of what to look for in a stereo microscope. That kind of information is super abundant for compound microscopes and I feel educated on it, but I would like a stereo microscope as well and I'm tempted to just buy something cheap. I'm not sure what features and attributes you get as you move up the food chain and whether they are valuable for me.

      A compact camera or mobile phone can be attached with an adapter (no extra opics needed). This video explains it: ruclips.net/video/TXAE-CLXGUE/видео.html

    Hello I really really need help
    Is there any way to increase the depth of field of a stereo microscope
    I intend to use a. 35 Barlow lens so that the more the focal length the deeper the depth of field
    But I still need to get a deeper depth of field
    Is there any way to maybe add an aperture ( even on the expense of the amount of light, we can increase this by using a more powerful light source) ?
    Please I need your help

    are the dual objectivesat 8:21 rms thread or another standard thread and able to be changed or would you have to remove the 3 screws and change the objective pair in that way and is changing them even practical?

    Hi Oliver. Two questions: one, are there any famous works of art (a painting for example) that are views from a microscope, stereo or otherwise. If not, I wonder why? Classical art and science do not mix, maybe?? ;-) (I apologize for my sense of humor.) The other thing is that locally there is someone selling an older AO stereo microscope that is stated as being in excellent condition, however there is no light underneath the stage like you show in your video. It appears that there is a mirror instead. There is a separate lamp on a stand, however. Is this a big deal? How often do you actually use the light under the stage, anyway. Oh, and a third question: perhaps you've already done one, but could you pls do a video on handheld digital microscopes like the Celestron 5MP and best values? Many thx again for all your efforts!

    What would stop me from using a monocular microscope to view opaque objects by adding a top light? Is it that the stereo microscope has a longer focusing distance?

  • @Mick_Holland

    Great video, thanks. I'm not sure what the 'tension' function you demonstrate at 04:00 is there for. I can't think of a situation where one would want to have the tension loose so that it would allow the 'focus drift' that you show in this section of the video. It appears that when tension is screwed up tight one can still use the focus knobs so I see no reason to have the ability to loosen the tension and have the head move down under its own weight. Would you explain please?

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  3 года назад +1

      Focus drift is of course not wanted but you can adjust it so that it is comfortable to focus. If you continue to loosen it, then you can take the microscope apart this way. Heavy camera can push the head of the microscope also down.

    Hello, Wich is the difference between a bacward stereoscope and a forward stereoscope? (Direction of the oculars with respec to the body). Thank you.

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  5 лет назад

      Some stereo microscopes can rotate the whole head and it is possible to have therefore both. Others will tip over if you do that and they therefore only allow for one configuration. It is where the support for the microscope head is (towards or away from you). Forward means that the support (the vertical bar) is away from you and you have direct access to the stage.

    Hello, I know this comment comes a few years later but unfortunately I can't find an answer anywhere.
    I got a used Stereo Microscope it doesn't have the eyepieces. This microscope comes with adjustable diopter. My question is, Do I need to get eyepieces with adjustable diopter or eyepieces without them or it doesn't matter? I'm very new to microscopes!!
    If you can help me I'll appreciate it very much!!

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  2 года назад +1

      The adjustable diopter ring is built in into the microscope. The eyepieces are independent of this. Usually the diameter of the eyepieces should be 30mm for stereo microscopes (measure it out) and then it should not matter.
