Ranger school is a leadership school. There’s no way that you can get in after basic. You need to be a specialist or higher to get in, hence you would need at least a year or two of service time.

@@grimreaper2755 although i think he is not understanding that rasp makes you a ranger not ranger school however what you said is not true i finished osut for 11b a few months ago and a guy in my olantoon thats in the national Florida national guard stayed for ranger school i aslo had the opportunity to go and i was a e2 they also asked for volunteers for ranger for active and guard it is not a requirement to be e4
@@billyfletcher9388 I guess they must have lowered the standard. Back in the days you had to be an E-4 and above.

Most of the footage is on Eglin AFB, and Ranger Training school is deep inside the swampy woods of Eglin. Some of the buildings on the sandy footage at end of song, are some buildings i worked on that are on the "island" part of Eglin. Seeing the Ranger trainees go from deep swamp to island terrain brings back many memories as a contractor building for the US Military. I built a couple of facilities inside the Ranger School. They keep it hard on the trainees, but omg their tiny mess hall had the best "cuisine" literally out of all that I've eaten at and it was only $4 at the time lol

spent 7 months at this school to get through. Taught me a lot about myself....I think the biggest thing I remember was accepting that Ranger School was my life and my reality and that nothing else mattered. Once that happened and all the distractions were gone, I could truly focus on myself, my battle buddies, and what needed to get done. It was enlightening. I have never been to war but I imagine the human psyche must go through the same and that's the only way you survive. You've got to be FULLY immersed in the moment. You can't learn the importance of that anywhere else and it's really hard to evolve into that state. I think the sleep deprivation and hunger helps. Haha.

I wish I had gone through ranger school. It wasn't a case of "I would have, but...". I just didn't consider it. I was happy where I was and it never crossed my mind.

Brings back memories from Ranger school in the 70's. I was in my teens. By the time my mind caught up with the training it was over and I graduated. None of what I learned came into affect until I went into the box. Thank you father Army.
