- I made a working Minecraft castle gate with no Mods and no Command Blocks !!
This is a tutorial on how to make a working castle gate in Minecraft
This castle gate / portcullis was designed by me with help from my friend @Kwipla ! Hope you enjoy!
Sadly, this is NOT possible in Bedrock Edition :(

For anyone wondering, this wont work unless you mlg waterbucket drop in the exact same spots. These steps are crucial

Oh nice me and my friends were trying to make a huge castle and this gate is perfect for it. A bit complicated but worth it.

Would like to note that no matter how many times i watch the video and check the work this gate does not work. I dont see a single comment on how to fix any "general issues" just basically "heres a half view of what this might look like...oh look it works! Thats the video have a good one!"
same. the top part of it doesnt seem to be doing anything...
i'd destroy the build, then carefully redo the tutorial. if that doesn't work, it could be a platform issue. some redstone works on java but not bedrock and vice-versa.

I had never seen a cross section diagram shown simultaneously to the build video. It should be a standard, thank you for showing it like that and please do keep on doing it when possible so that more people adopt it too.
If you're having trouble with the sand portion destroying itself during testing, it's because you need a solid block above the observers at the surface. I made the ground out of glass so I could see what was going on as I pressed the button, and since observers cannot power glass blocks, my third extender was not firing causing bad things to happen.
Thank you for pointing this out! I couldn't figure out why my gravel kept breaking, I had stairs above the observers xD
I have solid blocks on top of my observers and my gravity blocks still break any idea why?
@@WoodWoorksJM I was having problems with this until I realised I had forgotten one solid block in the weird triangle formation with 1 and 4 ticks repeaters. I guess it might have something to do with weird shenanigans involving direct and indirect powering, but I'm not sure. also make sure you don't forget to have 2 tall solid blocks in front of the observers

Mysticat is one of the best redstone explainer in all of Minecraft because Mysticat slowly does the redstone while talking so slow builders (like me) can follow along the tutorial easily unlike other RUclipsrs who just explain the redstone build while making a montage on the background and slow builders
(like me) can't quite follow and that's why Mysticat is one of the best redstone explainers in Minecraft :)

You forgot about how he actually builds the whole thing in survival which is just so much easier to follow rather than others who mostly make the builds in creative.

Really thought he's a GREAT tutorial follower. I've seen so many that skip steps, don't talk, don't explain. It's all bad. But this was a great tutorial. If you want the tutorial AND the technical details you need like a logicalgeekboy or one of the OGs

Let me explain to the viewers that don’t understand the first minute of this video:
A zero tick T flip flop can refer to:
a circuit that emits a pulse for a time below 0.05 seconds.
OR a circuit that turns on/off when you send a pulse into it that responds within 0.05 seconds to spam-proof
A vertical triple piston extender is a circuit that pushes blocks up or down 3 blocks.

Made a variation of this years ago what- the redstone was different but the concept was the same
(btw use sand for a desert or end build, gravel for medieval, and concrete powder for colorful other builds)

1.19 - this does not work. Do not waste time... you will do it all correctly and then the top layer of powder will break and the gate will move up only 1 block

I love always love the redstone view Mysty puts in the corner of these build videos, and they are always so great about showing the build from multiple angles at different steps. It makes a huge difference for me both in terms of understanding the step-by-step building process, but also getting that extra view helps me understand betterhow the circuitry actually works so that I can repair or modify it (if I wanted to, say, rig a gate up to be activated by a daylight detector or alarm bells, or a secret key situation).

i saw almost exactly the same design in one of official minecraft building books ages ago.
The differences were very slight, for example it used gravel/sand instead of concrete, as it didnt exist in the game back then

This works by having a compact vertical triple piston extender That feeds into a 0-tick flip-flop which powers a redstone comparator for exactly 1.648223445 ticks, therefore adding purpose to a shinyflipper that chains the coordenated two observers to fire at exactlty the same time getting us nowhere

Yeah, crazy to imagine we used to do complex redstone without observers or targetblocks.
As cool as this is, I want to see it done with only command blocks and no snapping like pistons do. Falling block properties etc.

Oh my god thank you! This worked for me! Someone else made a Gate Tutorial too but it never worked! This was kind of the same but the Redstone repeater for the top part of the gate is the one thing that needed I to work!

Bro... this type of gate brings back memories from 2015 when I built this gate for my village which i protected and I needed a gate so i build the same gate but a bit different in redstone and worked the same. Nostalgia...

Nice Piston door, i like it and the movement of the redstone and the gate is super smooth
The top sticky pistons on the bottom circuit can be regular pistons to save slime

I have FINALLY finish building this on bedrock, [Since it obviously doesn't work] I made an adlib version, this video helped me so much to know what components is needed to make it, There are no tutorials on how to do the "bottom part" of this contraption... (The triple push and contract contraption), it was challenging to make but the "top part" of this video works, anyways, thank you so much, this has been a very fun build to do in Bedrock ☺️
