One important thing you missed out on the resolution is Ally X has VRR and legion go doesn't. IMO 1080p with VRR> 2k no VRR
ABSOLUTELY!!! None of these devices has the hardware capability to run games at decent graphical quality with smooth/stable framerate, so, the VRR function is an absolute must have for, at least, alleviate the unstable framerate problem. And the VRR on ROG Ally is quite the good one cuz it works on all the refresh rate range supported by it's screen, from 1 to 120hz, which can make even 30'ish fps games a little bit more tolerable. I got myself exceptionally impressed when I saw what the combo VRR + 40fps + 120hz can do to the "framerate smoothness experience".
VRR don't matter when it comes to Legion, it runs very smooth
Technically no 1080p is not better than 2k resolution. 2k res is noticeably sharper than 1080p. I have an og ally and compared both. Also what you can run on it depends on the game. Plenty of older triple aaa and 2d games run great at 2k res and have 60 plus fps. Also if you do emulation retro games look waaay better on the legion due to the resolution and screen size. Also Vrr doesn't really make that much of difference if you use the right settings you'll get 60 plus fps in most games on the legion. Also combine with frame gen I rarely see fps below 60. Also Vrr only works from 48hz and up.
@@justswitched8841The Ally has low framerate compensation so if framerates drop below 48fps it duplicates frames to fit into the 48hz to 120hz VRR range. Games run great on the Ally even in the 30fps because of LFC.
Personally I have been using Gsync monitors and compatible TVs for years. I am not a fan of Vsync especially if you are struggling to hit a target framerate. Latency or stuttering is poor, I noticed this with the 144hz portable 15 inch monitor I use with the Ally, the framerates are much smoother on the Ally's VRR screen.
@@justswitched8841 First, OP didnt say 1080p was better than 2K, he said he would prefer 1080p with VRR than 2k without it. Second, the VRR on Ally acts through all the refresh rate range of its screen, from 1 to 120. Even if, "today", you can still play "any" game on these devices at stable 60fps, its not certain that the same will also happen "tomorrow". And when this "tomorrow" comes, the VRR will give the Ally a slightly longer life span, because it will let you run games under 60fps with a bit more confort to the eyes. Watching several Go, Ally and Claw reviews (Im deciding which one to buy), Ive been seeing on the comment sections some people already complaining that their Steam Deck isnt delivering a satisfactory gameplay experience in newer games anymore.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the original Ally’s speakers already beat the Legion’s by a mile if that’s a factor you care about.
Legion Go look way more attractive with its larger display, larger resolution and detachable controller.
I have the Legion and it's a game changer ...the screen is very large and vividly looks amazing compared to the Oled ..Triple A titles, it plays very well...battery is decent, but it doesn't matter to me when I use a 100w charging brick very fast charging ...Legion 👊🏽😂
whats the model of your charging brick? planning to get one
Super excited for the ROG Ally X. I might be insane preordered it for music production. I missed out on the original Ally but more RAM, more space and more battery? I seem to have stumbled upon the ROG Ally X at the perfect time. I have an Odin 2, a PS4 and a Switch but my laptops are too old to run Steam games well. I'm getting this ROG Ally X to use FL Studio on mobilly and also play some games I can't play anywhere else like "Fading Afternoon" or "Palworld" with my friends or the new Sonic and Dragon Ball games when they come out. I was gonna get a dock and turn this thing into my new lortable desktop. I already have a screen and keyboard/mouse. I'm super excited to cook up some tracks on here and also play a few games too.
My friends are saying I'm crazy for buying this instead of a laptop or a desktop. But I wanted something more portable & it seems to be able to do everything I want it to do. I'm not a super huge gamer so I won't be playing a lot of FPS games or any od the huge flagship titles. Maybe some anime games as they release and some light emulation that I can't do on my Odin 2. I hope I don't regret my purchase 😭
It would be interesting to see a video on you using the Ally X for music production. I enjoy video editing on my iPad over my far more powerful PC setup so it's not that crazy, just more convenient 😂
The ally X has. 1tb ssd, not 512gb…
he also mentioned that the ally x is heavier than the legion go 🤔
As a happy Rog Ally owner the only thing that interested me in the Legion Go was the touch pad and the 2 usb 4 ports for the external gpu but now Asus has gotten rid of that stupid propriety port and to be honest the way I use it I don't need a TouchPad.
More Ram just seals the deal for me and at sometimes I'll pick one up.
And the ROG Ally X uses a M.2 2280. I can upgrade to a 4TB for a good price.
Ally X has better storage options with m.2 2280 being cheaper and better available.
Legion go has 2242, which are rare on the market and a lot more expensive, although you can use a 2230 with an adapter if you're willing to take the risk.
I have Legion Go one thing on display is actually based on vertical display so is really annoying in some games like issues to be full screen and other stuff like that is big and cool but annoying sometimes. Ally because is horizontal display screen and with VRR we have less of those issues and pretty smooth.
But the driver support for thr Legion Go is so poor, Like the device has received like 1 update in thr past 4 months..
dude. the background music is way too loud. it was a pain to listen to your comments!
I have a Steam Deck, Legion Go, and now I'm going to buy the Ally X, then I'll decide which one its better, but I think the 80Wh it a winner feature. I don't like to play 1.30 hs and have to charge the handheld.
will you buy all three next year too? and then the next one?
I don't want buyer's remorse, staring at the legion for 580 though🙄
@@charleyweinhardt jajaja well, who knows? Maybe I’ll do.
Legion Go if I didn't care about battery life, ergonomics, comfortability, and no VRR
I will be waiting for Zotac, A Steam Deck look a like, with a Ryzen 8000 APU.
I switched to the Ally X from the LGO the screen is the only thing i miss
The ally x isn’t even out yet 😅
I will never choose Lenovo again. It's a mistake you only make once.
Why? I was just about to buy one
For me the big screen with touch pad and touchable controllers like nintendo switch controller is the best.
I'm sorry for asking... was the text and voice 100% AI?
This is my research based comparison my friend ❤️
@@whichisbettr I‘m glad to hear that… these days are very strange…
@@whichisbettr You missed out on alot of details. Rog is 1 tb not 500gb.
I love the LLG, feels very premium and elegant, but the support from Lenovo is terrible... I think I'm going to try the Ally X
legion only 500$ in my country and it is a tablet without controller ,performance is the same
The only reason I like the idea of the Go is that a detachable controller means a REPLACEABLE controller, but I'm too lazy to look up whether that's economically viable.
It is, they cost around 70usd to replace. I printed a support that includes room for a small bluetooth keyboard and now I've got a standalone display with a comfy controller to play with
Legion Go is huge and has less battery, not really a good option for on-the-go. The X is more portable, no need to worry about a powerbank and you can easily throw it in a sling bag and have fun with it wherever you are
Legion Go is better. Ally heats up and runs your SD. Legion has better performance
@@cynicaltruth7486 that was the previous gen, we are comparing X and Go
Bruh 😂 opinion on an updated ally.
I have the legion go. The 7 in ally X will not work for me no matter how they beef the Ally X. Sorry. Oh, and the second USB C port should have been at the bottom.
I would buy the Ally X but the screen is too small for $800. ASUS should really have upped the screen size to 8”
Keep an eye out for the up coming Msi Claw 8 AI+
Your not paying for the extra screen. You are paying for the Extra/faster Memory and doubled Battery. Also it was not mentioned that you can easily replace the SSD in the Ally X with a Standard Gen 4 NVME SSD. I am going to put in my old 2TB 980 pro SSD.
Or at least thin the bezels out. Still has the same ugly Asus logo bezel on top and bottom of the screen
@@abdulbasit4660 🤣😂
Ready to go on the legion.
Go is better but it’s close. The battery and ram difference are where the Go is surpassed.
How is go better if ally x has VRR
Legion Go is for PC Gamers and Rog Ally is for Console Gamers.
Do you want a PC or a Console?
I hate detachable controllers... Ally X wins for me
Ally X has 1tb not 512gb. Gotta be better prepared next time and you also forgot about VRR and the better driver support on the Ally.
He also forgot the user replacable NVME Gen 4 SSD. You can put in a 4TB SSD.
Uhh Ally X. Obviously.
I hate asus for what they did to gamers, 8 extra gigs aint shit tbh, it still wont make diffrent
Were talking 50$ difference here in price . That makes the ally the winner by default . More power more bat more ram
Not to mention the most demanding games you'll end up playing on 720p and that's gonna look terrible on legion go screen
Nope, but you tried. Enjoy that tiny smartphone sized screen.
@@vaseknosekenjoy your buggy Lenovo.
@@josemalbino12 Experienced zero bugs, but try even harder.
@@vaseknosekThe Ally feels like a handheld, the Legion Go is absolutely massive. It felt like a tablet with 2 switch like controllers to me. Way too big for a handheld.
se non possiedi entrambi i sistemi non dare informazioni errate. possiedo alleato X e LegionGo, LegionGo è migliore su tutto.
Legion go wing 100%
I'm sorry but you missed a huge difference between the two devices. While the ally X has VRR the Legion Go is not.. In this size 2k or full HD is not make a big difference. But the VRR as the game runs much fluid is a red flag. Because its a gaming device and want to enjoy and we dont need detachable controller because if I need just grab an Xbox controller and good to go. Nobody use the mouse. Noone.
LegionGo ha il VRR, è disponibile da mesi.
Some needs to do more research....
The OG ally was already beating the Go in terms of benchmarks. The X just takes it further.
Legion go
Ally X is 1TB storage only.
You can replace it easily with any standard NVME SSD up to 4TB.
@@carlrhxphn8TB*
X ain't out yet, so......
Easy answer.. Rog ally x over any other handheld in the market.
possiedo x e legionGo. non c'è scelta. LegionGo superiore per schermo, raffreddamento, controlli e potenza. Smettetela di dire che Alleato è migliore, è falso. Io venderò il mio è comprerò una OledSteam
Ally x has bigger battery 😮
The battery lasts half an hour more 😂
@@alexandergozzi25 It's effectively double that of the Legion Go. What are you blabbering about.
Ally is not bigger
GUYS, DON'T BUY THE ROG ALLY X, IT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING, JUST UPGRADE THE RAM LIKE I DID BY PUTTING 32 GB RAM.. THE BATTERY WILL LAST HALF AN HOUR LONGER 🇺🇸🇮🇹☝️🙏
Lol Ally X have 1tb storage!
Dude you thirsty for something to talk about.
the legion go isn't as portable as ally x, if you want a big screen with controllers just buy a laptop
I still go for Lenovo legion go :)
This video is a rubbish. Honestly. Doesn't look as a gaming perspective. Looks like he never used any of them. I speak as have ally and go. So play on ally an fps games and on the go. You will see the difference. Also 2k is no option with this hardver.
I’m so happy with my Legion Go, the display is awesome, I wish it was even bigger 🤪
