Finaly somebody has explained what is safety contour and safety depth, and difference between them.. Thank you kindly Sir, it was really great and clear explanation.
This is the best video I have gone through on Internet regarding Ecdis safety settings . We also had this video played in our chief mate ph.1 class room , great job sir and thanks to you for putting in so much efforts.

Nicely explained. As a naval architect I need to understand the navigation system that is employed in a ship. You have done a great job. Subscribed to your channel. Please carry on.
Hi Capt, great video again, just trying to clear some confusions. @1:35 you may use words MAY round aground not WILL run aground. @2:05 you said area between 0&10m counter is non navigable for a vessel drying 9m, ie, water s non-navigable beyond safety contour! You contradict this @6:19 that it may me navigable. Also @4:11 you said next available contour to user’s value of 11m is 20m! What happened to 15m? Thanks
Good video. A question: @1:13 I saw subtitle reading contours of 5, 9.1, 10,15, 18.3, 20, etc while sound our says different. Can you please explain a bit. Thanks.
sir can u make vedios for vetting and psc inspection related to bridge / navigation related. Like what all preparation to be done for such inspection. it wud be highly useful for new promoted guys
how about when vessel is more than 15 m depth crossing singapore straits and the ukc requirement is 3.5m. for example a vessel with 21.5m depth passing the one fathom bank will have to have a very big shallow contour making it a non navigable area even though the tide is high. next question is about abort position places due to not exactly describing it in the navigation planning procedures.
Sir pls clarify in the video when u explain setting for Shallow contour , u say to set equal to draft and in the video the formula for shallow contour shown is Shallow contour =Dynamic draft or draft + Squat as per company policy....Why there is two different interpretation.....Which one is correct? Many thanks

Is it possible to adjust the safety depth together with the safety contour?
how about when vessel is more than 15 m depth crossing singapore straits and the ukc requirement is 3.5m. for example a vessel with 21.5m depth passing the one fathom bank will have to have a very big shallow contour making it a non navigable area even though the tide is high. next question is about abort position places due to not exactly describing it in the navigation planning procedures.
