Beverly Hills is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Located within 5.7 square miles and surrounded by the cities of Los Angeles and West Hollywood, it had a population of 34,109 at the 2010 census and an estimated population of 33,792 in 2019.
The city is home to many celebrities, luxury hotels, and the Rodeo Drive shopping district.
Originally a Spanish ranch where lima beans were grown, Beverly Hills was incorporated in 1914 by a group of investors who had failed to find oil, but found water instead and eventually decided to develop it into a town.
Rodeo Drive is a two-mile-long (3.2 km) street, primarily in Beverly Hills, California, with its southern segment in the City of Los Angeles. Its southern terminus is at Beverwil Drive, and its northern terminus is at its intersection with Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. The name is most commonly used metonymically to refer to the three-block stretch of the street north of Wilshire Boulevard and south of Little Santa Monica Boulevard, which is known for its luxury goods stores.
The "Rodeo Collection," a 45 store, 70,000 square foot shopping mall opened in 1983 at 421 N. Rodeo Drive. The building is only four stories high with the first floor below street level in order to satisfy local building codes. The retail space initially leased for as much as $120 per square foot, which, according to an executive with commercial real estate firm Julien J. Studley, was "the highest price for any kind of space in the Los Angeles Area."
Two Rodeo Drive, another outdoor shopping center, was built in 1990. It initially housed, amongst other stores, Christian Dior and Valentino. The original developer, Douglas Stitzel, sold the property for about $200 million immediately after its completion. The shopping center was hard-hit by the early 1990s recession, with occupancy rates dropping to as low as 60%, and the buyers sold it at an almost $70 million loss in 2000. By 2007 the property was financially stable again and was sold to a group of Irish investors for $275 million. It resembles a “faux-European shopping alley” and features a cobblestone street. Some architects have claimed that Two Rodeo Drive is similar to a "theme park in the manner of Disneyland."
French fashion firm Lanvin opened a store on Rodeo in 2011. According to CEO Thierry Andretta local customers were expected to account for about 60% of the store's sales, with international tourists accounting for the balance, lending some credence to Rodeo Drive's reputation as an internationally renowned shopping area.

Westwood is a commercial and residential neighborhood in the northern central portion of the Westside region of Los Angeles, California. It is the home of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Late afternoon aerial photograph of Westwood (center), with Century City at the far right and the Santa Monica Mountains and San Fernando Valley in the background
The 2000 census found the approximately 47,000 people living in the neighborhood were generally young and moderately diverse ethnically, with a generally high level of income and education.
The neighborhood was developed after 1919, and a new campus of the University of California opened in 1926. Other attractions include Westwood Village, with its historic motion picture theaters, restaurants and shopping, Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery and the Hammer Museum. Holmby Hills is considered one of the wealthiest residential areas in Los Angeles, and the Geffen Playhouse attracts theater-goers. A prominent Mormon temple is also in the area.

LOL. 36:45 My first time in LA and I was going to visit a friend that lived above sunset plaza. I was coming from phoenix and had a stick shift. Well, in Phoenix there are not a lot of hills so I was stuck at this stop light with a stick shift and never really had to perform on a hill like that. It freaked me out.

This isn’t West Los Angeles, west Los Angeles is a smaller neighborhood towards the end of Wilshire before you get to Santa Monica. The overall area is known as the west side of Los Angeles.

A rich area looks very pleasant.
But a street person increases in downtown, and the differential is social problem in Los Angeles.

What we locals call the Heart of Darkness, or the Land of the Corrupt and Weird. Inhabited by Smurfs with sharp teeth. Most of us avoid it as if it were a plague (appropriately). I admit that I lived there for several years.

I never liked LA tbh. Endless sprawl, horizontal city with little vertical construction, car-centric with almost no public transportation, always close to a major fire somewhere, hardly feels like a city (more like an uncohesive group of a hundred cities connected by highways with horrible traffic)
