The landing gear in this model can take a beating. I've noticed the nose gear was sinking into the grass pretty well during take-off. All in all, appreciate what you guys are doing for the community.
So I stiffened up my nose gear off the bat, and what a difference it will make for this jet, I can’t complain off our grass, but also don’t fly it on really warm days either, a good head wind makes a world off difference with rotate as well, great video guys👊🏼👊🏼
I really appreciate these speed trials!! You guys are the only ones that put the effort into this and it answers so many peoples questions! Good job and I have a mod for this plane that I will be doing when I find one… and you will like it!! 😜😜😜
I have the same problem with taking off. In my opinion it's the front gear. The white "cap" on the back of the front wheel grabs grass and adds just the right (or wrong) amount of drag, not to take off. Great speed run video though! Love that y'all got it off the ground!! Gives me hope. 🙌🏿🙏🏿🤙🏿only got it in the air once so far. Edit: At the end I saw y'all took that peice off. . . So there goes my theory, lmao. Happy flying !
Appreciate the effort guys. But this plane is just too heavy and it must be that small front wheel and all that weight of the nose and lipo pushing it into the grass. She looks like she's got the speed but lacking the power. It's confirmed I won't be buying one. I always fly from grass.
Its the nose gear. It compresses way too easily which makes a negative angle of attack. Gotta stiffen the nose gear spring or lock it on place. Once you get that worked out its fine. Also just changing the motors in this bird (leave the same edf units but change motor) to the 30mm 1900kv motors and it will change the plane.
You absolutely right! And we do these reviews and keep it honest so you can make a good decision about spending your hard earned more or making a pass...because no one wants $500-600 plane they can't fly!!!!🤣
@@RCPlaneReviewer I’d never let the facts get in the way of a dumb RUclips remark lol! But you’re right, and I’m just mad I don’t have the long paved runway this beauty would require 🙃
@@RCPlaneReviewer please tell me would it be better to replace the stock EDF's with xfly 2680 KV2200 or the xfly 3060 KV2000 70mm EDFs for longer efficient flying time? Thank you :-)
I would hold no up elevator on the ground until it gets close to rotation speed. If you can't increase thrust then a greater angle of attack should help on grass.
Holding back pressure on taxi and takeoff is standard soft field operations. It keeps the weight off the nose wheel/strut as that is the weakest in the tricycle gear.
Rcplanereviewer, lesson Bobby and Jeff, I can't stop watching that speed trial with that su30 70mm, I am one of the persons who had requested to see that speed trial, I saw 2 top speed over an 100mph, witch is very incredible for that jet, I realize it struggles alot on the grass fields during take off, is it the front gear wheel pants the problem for the grass take off?
I'm not an rc person so I have no experience, but I have a non rc related project I am wanting to build that would require 3 80mm EDFs to run at full power off of one battery with a 3 minute run time .( I believe 80mm edf specs say 100 amps at full power each so I would need 300 amp capability for 3 minutes. Would you be able to advise if this is possible and if so, what would the smallest, lightest possible battery size capable of achieving full power on 3 80mm EDFs for 3 minutes? Just trying to determine if this is even possible before I start researching seriously. Much appreciated

Yeaaaaaah it's a shame but oh well!!
Nice review👍👍🥜🥜
Try a stiffer spring on the nose gear strut.
^THIS^! That chord is begging for, at least, level AOA! Is creating downforce right now.

Just what everyone needs, a plane that flies tail heavy and takes off nose heavy!
It Flys Bueatifully when you can get it up!! 1😝

@@Stinkles_ hahhahaha me too!! I want a paved runway too!
Was that stock motors? Didn't you guys do a xfly upgrade video a while ago? You need to drop the speedbrake and add flaperons.
That was the Xfly upgraded motors! The struggle was real. It's not meant for grass.

I thought about makin a joke that it needed a lil blue pill but I wont lol
Lol it's appropriate 🤣

We tried that too and it made no difference in rotation

Thinking about getting a used one of these . Wondering how to get it some extra flight time

Not the wheels pants the springs are too soft weight of batter pushes nose down changing angle of attack
That was a fun video. Good job guys!

My FMS Avanti 70 does the same thing at my grass field, trouble rotating. The thing is my Eflite Viper 70 has no problem rotating at my field…????
Glad it wasn't just only me!!
Does anyone know where to get one of the SU-30s from Eflite online?! Can't seem to find one anywhere.
It's basically a purple unicorn 🦄 at this point
@@RCPlaneReviewer I will continue to scour the earth
@@rmvb4flt133 found it? Theres other planes like this one, the FMS j11 or the Su-27 i think?
@@EntityPilot yep went with the J11
Can you fly this eflite su30 with freewing su35 side by side? I want to see their comparison
There is no comparison between the two. The E-flite is larger, heavier and faster. The Fw su35 is much much lighter and has thrust Vectoring
Good job guys! It looked like it was just lumbering around. Thought it was going to stall. Shes quick to rotate on pavement.
Yeah i think on 80mm it would be great
I only got 85 mph on mine at 3500 altitude
Thats Alt is killing performance

I loved this plane but I crashed it :(((
Try carrying it out instead of wasting half the pack first.
No that doesn't save anything except 25mah..I've tested that.
