I was wondering why Briar seemed so strong, especially if I hit 2*early.

can someone explain how to read the stat? like -0.37 is better than -0.29? and what if its +0.37 which one is better?

"+" means it's doing worse than average and "-" means it's doing better than average placement. As per your -0.29 and -0.37 example, the lower the negative number is (-0.37 is lower than -0.29 so the bigger the negative number the lower it is) the better the item is.

-0.37 = your average position goes up toward 1st place by 0.37. So if delta (or relative difference) is -0.37 for a certain item, then on average, that item leads to getting closer to 1st place/position by 0.37. So -0.37 would be slightly better than -0.29 because -0.37 is claiming to be even closer to 1st place than -0.29 from wherever your current place in the game is.
Similarly for +0.37, you are approaching 8th place by 0.37 on average from wherever you are currently :)
