Started with7550. In last two years have added 2038. 7560 and My new favorite 2144. All 9 mm stitch and can switch bobbins and feet between machines. Like the Quarter inch foot for quilt seaming.
i'm finishing up my first ever quilt--a qayg-- and when i give it to someone i love, there is zero chance they will find it obvious that it's a qayg-- because no one i know would have the foggiest idea what that means or how it matters 😁.
NOW I get it!! I've watched a few QAYG tutorials here and there, and no one explains how to join the blocks as well as you do along w/creating the block. Thank you!!!! Great camera work Athena!!!
I'm also a ripper, and I always get a perfect edge! And yes, those threads were kept from feed sacks and used for hand quilting. Very efficient and effective!
Yes I liked your video, this method is very interesting. Not sure I’d give this a whirl yet, because I’m just learning quilting and have a long way to go. Thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊
Your QAYG tutorial was fantastic, I haven't seen one with the log cabin block, yours is very effective. It is also great that you offer various finishing techniques and refer to other designers. Many thanks, Jess
I’ll take you any way I can Nancy 😂...omg you have such an eye for colours..beautiful colour combinations..love love 💕 the “Wonder Women “ fabric and what you’re going with it. Hello Marthese - that will be our next LIVE videos, probably not for a couple of weeks as i have to travel for my "real job" but just as soon as i get back - probably on a Sunday afternoon, Michigan time - Thank you for watching - Nancy
My favorite tip was using the awl. And you can get the mats from JoAnn's. I saw them there recently. Mine came from Hancock's- the one that closed down.
"Nancy doesn't do blood" lmao That's awesome :D This video is really long, which I generally don't like to sit through, BUT, I am no expert, but I am also not a beginner, and I have learned a few things so far, so I had to stay :D Thanks for teaching
Interesting technique, I love the awl for easing fabric as you showed-very helpful. It makes me wince to see you sew over pins 😣, such a nice machine I didn’t want it to get damaged. Good suggestions on lining up & squaring up the fabrics. Wishing you a safe trip!
Good morning little late i know lol Dec 30 Monday i did a first time quilt as you go with out the sashing in string quilting came out ok i was afraid with my corners joining not too bad my friend tries to get me to rip but me old fashion thanks for doing this i like to know how to do like 5 inch squares in quilt as you go without sashing i used cotton batting from Newfoundland Canada we got lots of snow lol
Hi :) - I honestly wouldn't recommend doing 5" squares, maybe do at least a 4x4 layout, so it would be 20" square. Doing the joining without sashings is more difficult to get everything to match so i would believe you did it correctly, it just won't be ask smooth as if you put sashings. Which makes me think, why not? Why not do 20" squares with a 2" sashing, i think it would look cool - Happy Quilting - Nancy
I was introduced to quilting when my children were in nursery school, 1981 - 1983 I was co-chairing a fundraiser for our co-op nursery school. Hello Nancy and girls, forgive me not catching everyones names, but i want to thank you all for giving so much of your time and talent in give us so much expertise in quilting. I wondered when i seen you wear a wonder woman actual bangle if you were of my wonder woman age group and i find that you would be my baby sister by a year, lol. Love the material and i can see why you would want to choose it, but i'm wondering whether it's going to see the top of your bed, or will Bill say "no way"? Hee hee hee. I think that the backing fabric you chose just jumped out at you to say "me, me, pick me, i'll be good with her". I hope that you and the girls are having a lovely time weather wise at the moment and hope that you are able to do things freely again pretty soon. Across here in Scotland we are having the best weather we have had in years since spring, but of course until recently you couldn't actually enjoy it if your lived in a flat or tenament. Hi, my first time to watch. God bless you! I'm an experienced sewer, quilter, but never did the quilt as you go before. I think I'm going to try it this year. I have several Quilts of Valor and Quilts of Love I need to do quickly (I'm very behind...and almost 68, so don't want time to run out.. Keep me going Lord, Thank you.). I laughed when u said, we'd ask God when we get to heaven, why after being so careful lining up the strips, why they're still off. It dawned on me, only now, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, how many people have said in their lifetime what they planned on asking God when they get to heaven. Think about it... Truly, you have to laugh and hope He is going to have a sense of humor or have a specific way of telling us or perhaps a group of angels that only answer ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS we've had in our lifetime. The thought just made me laugh. He'll be shaking His head at me, for certain, saying, "Seriously, Lana, how many more questions do you have!!?? I don't even remember how many times I've said I'm asking Him this or that...but ALOT!!! lol You did a great job. Thanks for your fellowship and for going to spread God's word and love to other people throughout our world. Blessings to you, your family and friends. Travel safely, L :)
