my grandpa in belgium had the fancier Nissan, the Bluebird (in sedan form, but there were also hatchbacks and even a turbo version I think) all of his life he bought Mercedes and the Volvos, but then he bought this one in 1989 and it stayed with him until 2003 when he had to retire from driving, these were really very high quality cars that stood the test of time.

I got 205 kmh out of a 95 year Mazda 323F 1.5.. It literally hit the rev limiter in 5th gear at 6500 rpm.. Best car ever and very reliable.. I would rate them above the Sunny and Corolla.

We had a 323P with the same engine, had 300K+ on the clock when we sold it. Still worked perfectly. However, all those Mazdas were killed by rust issues since then, except maybe the ones not driven in the winter or the ones in southern Europe. Not many new cars have as perfect manual transmissions as those old Mazdas.

There was also a 1.3 and a 1.5 LX with less outer trim.
Since the early 70's, when they were known as Datsun, the 1200 / Sunny could reach 100mph/160 kmh !

I drove a 1989 Nissan Sentra E with the same GA16i engine when it was new. 90HP was not a lot, but compared to the 70HP E16 engine 😂 in the 1988 model, it was a significant improvement!
On economy cars back then, 3-speed automatics were very common. On manual transmission models, most cars had a 4-speed on the base model and only the mid/upper trim models had 5-speeds.

Was in Germany to get a Nissan 200SX and we did drive there with a 75hp WW Caravan diesel, it got up to 150+ km/h and still accelerating with the RPM going into the red, that car was insane, it just got more and more power the farter into the red you went with the RPM... We did not dare to drive faster then 150+ Km/h as the engine would for sure self disintegrate at some point.

The engine was warmed up before I turned it off for about 3-4 minutes, then I started recording. The engine temperature gauge takes some time to reach the correct position, you should check after 30 seconds to 1 minute after start the temperature. That’s why it takes a bit longer to show the right position. However, the temperature never reaches the midpoint of 90°C. it always stays around 70-80°C, even at top speed and full throttle.
