His off ball shot blocking will be solid but he might struggle against the big boys. He’s tough and will end up being a fine pro if he can avoid injury.
I disagree. He will be the 1st option star, or at least has good potential for it. No one will match him against Jokic or Embiid in his first 2-3 years. He will play 4. And as a 4, as long as his 3pt shot translates to the NBA, he will get A LOT of scoring opportunities. He will be more like KP or KD, more of a perimeter player who will have to be guarded closely, which will give him opportunities to take people off the dribble and into the paint, where his 7'5 wingspan will great create high % shots or fouls or passes. I think you picked his biggest concern - injury risk. If he stays healthy, he is a super-star in 2-3 years.
@@mrvk39 don’t ever compare him to KD again. KD was a first option from the rip and was able to play and matchup with big boys at or around position from the jump. Chet will be a catch and shoot player for a while until he develops his frame
@@pandabear1576 don't be dense. Chet might need a year or two to develop, but his ceiling is very much comparable to KD. He is more than just a catch and shoot guy - watching his handle, his first step, his ability to stop and pull up for a shot... the foundation to be a great offensive player is there
I disagree with some here saying he is a "complimentary player". He has legit super-star potential. He is more of a 4 in the NBA, not a 5. Unlike in college, NBA will give him a LOT more open opportunities to shoot and create. His passing is a strength not a weakness and it will work well with his handles and fluidity. As long as his 3pt shot holds up in the NBA, he will get a lot of points. The biggest weakness wasn't mentioned - it's the risk of injuries. Anytime, you get a 7 footer on such a thin frame, it's a question mark. Like with KP, it's something that doesn't have to be a risk without a history of injuries. NBA is punishing on players' bodies. IF he gains 20 pounds, will it make him less or more prone to injuries? No one knows!
I don't think it's his thin frame that is a particular cause for concern regarding injuries. There are plenty of players who are actually too big and the forces are too much for their joints. I actually think it's the opposite and his chances of injury are lower. I think it's important to see his track record of injuries.
@@billr5842 It's both. A prime example of putting too much weight and getting injured would be someone like Zion or Shaq in late 2000s. But being too thin and being so tall can be a risk for injuries, like KP, for example. Neither Zion, nor Shaq, nor KP had a track record of any particular injuries prior to the NBA
@@mrvk39 How about Greg Oden, Anthony Davis? These were bigger explosive players. Chet isn't particularly explosive and doesn't play like those 2. He is also agile which is generally a good sign. Porzingis is 7'3" and he isn't exactly skinny and he actually has a freakish vertical leap (for his height) so it's no surprise he got injured. But then again, injuries are totally random in many cases and you really don't know for sure.
@@billr5842 He was VERY skinny when he entered the league! It was the biggest knock on him during draft, which is why he fell to 4. He doesn't have a freakish vertical leap. He is like Chet, with a 7'5 wingspan. He can dunk without having much of a vertical. And yes, any type of player can get injured be it Oden or Roy, but generally, many 7'0 and above have longevity issues in the NBA.
@@mrvk39 uhh porzingis had a 37.5" vertical leap in 2016. That is 2inches more than Blake Griffin. That is a freakish vertical especially for some at his size. He was 230lbs which is medium but maybe not for his height. At 7'3 he's better off strength training rather than bulking up. Of course casual NBA fans always think the opposite. When someone at that height bulks up, the weight increases quite a bit faster than if a 6'5" guard bulks up.
As a Rockets fan, I like our selection. However, I have to admit this guy may have the highest ceiling in this class. I am happy to see him joining the team which drafted KD. Good luck.
Shades of Dolph Schayes. If you never seen film on Schayes, well there's not much, but what I did see he was too quick for bigs and could shoot over smaller players. Also some Paul George in terms of agility and smoothness to his game. Got some Mitchell Robinson in him in terms of blocking shots on the perimeter.
It's not like Chet is coming into the league in the 90's. Not many players play in the post. Embiid, Jokic, and KAT rather shoot 3's all game and it's not like they are shut down defenders at the 3pt line.
I used to think he'd be a bust because he was too skinny. But, if he is used as a 4 primarily until he adds some more bulk, I think he'll be fine. Prime Serge Ibaka is a good comparison I don't see that much but I really think fits quite well. With his narrow shoulders though, I don't think he'll ever be able to fill out like Giannis has. So I guess he'll always play at least some of his minutes with another big on the court. His shooting and mobility on both ends of the floor make that a possibility, though.
Lil bro u going hard I like it I break prospects down as well. Big magic man Do we take paolo who is ready to best player day 1 or do we go with unreal upside and be patient with Chet. I’m torn paolo is ready to compete right away and had a huge bag. But if Chet figures it out he could be on of the best to ever come out what says you keondre
Kid is skilled Like Mobley he should be #1 pick. His timing just like Mobley is extremely impressive. If Magic can do what Cavs did and get a pounder Center down low they can play Chet and PF/C
I think the concern about Chet's frame is durability. Guys who come into the league with his type of frame tend to struggle to stay healthy over an 82 game season. Now in most cases as the player adds muscle and core strength the concern goes away, but there are questions about his ability to bulk up and build core strength.
@@guledm12 you went too far on the extreme. His frame is not built for 82 games it’s a fact. Mentioning zion makes no sense. Zion gets injured due to his landings from his ridiculously explosive jumping
Honestly, the level of defense, basketball iq, speed, strength and physicality is leagues above in the nba. We've seen the best shooters in college struggle to get a shot off in the nba. JJ Reddick for instance struggled for YEARS until he got in nba shape competing in the gym against peak Dwight Howard. And with Chets frame he's going to be bullied and pushed out the box more than Marvin Bagley lol. I imagine he'll prolly average a block in the nba well shooting around 30% from three and thats me trying to be optimistic. Also despite his weight he's actually REALLY SLOOOOOW, and in the nba people will prolly blow past him and body him to create space. Now thats not to say that he won't have a huge career and make progress in time, but I really believe thats dependant on him getting in better shape and putting on A LOT of muscle. He may be worthy of the #1 pick in time but I think he's possibly the least nba ready amongst the big 4 or 5 in the draft.
Yea people compare him to Kevin durante but even durante was faster and could create his own shot and pull up in someone's face. This guy will get stripped before he even dribbles the ball lol
I think it would be better for him to be a 4 rather than being a center. Let Sengun be their 5 and maybe they can copy cavs mobley allen duo. All they need is a good playmaker though since they already got 2 young scorers with green and kpj. I just hope he turns out to be a really good player man
He’s not remotely comparable to Dirk, especially on defense. He’ll struggle with some bigger guys but his length and positioning will make him a great rim defender regardless.
@@dillonmurphy2394 also Dirk was way more athletic than he was at the same age even into his prime but people love only focusing on what they can remember recently.
If he “steadily adds some beef to his frame,” and stays relatively healthy, then I will guarantee 5X All Star, likely 3+ All NBA teams as well. Chet is as close to a “Perfect Prospect” as you can find (outside of the Lebron level savants) EXCEPT for his frame/strength. I’m of the opinion that if frame is a prospects only real weakness, then you take that player 1st overall and never look back. “Too skinny” is the EASIEST attribute to improve massively in just a few seasons.
he needs to paired up with a complimentary physical player like mahorn or laimbeer or shaq at the 4/5 positions....a weak side floating shot blocker. Or just a SF like durrant??
a lot of ppl arent a believer bc his size (jot height wise) but i mean mobley is skinny asf too and was very good last year. would have been roty if he didnt get hurt
The one thing i dont like is his weight but his determination to fight no matter the weight difference is defiantly something i like to see compared to other skinny guys before
Chet has a good Basketball IQ, too. However, I don't see he is like Evan Mobley. Mobley was dominant, Chet isn't. A lot of his blocks are backside defense shots. In the NBA, big strong frontcourt players are going to pass off the double team and Chet is going to go one-on-one. Chet will not be able to dribble off the rebound to the 3 line and nail it. Teams are going to stop, or annoy, his 3 shot because it's really nice. Lastly, current big NBA players are taller and stronger. Chet will have a hard time with Giannis, Jokic, Embiid, Ayon, and a few others on the boards and with their strength. Chet is going to have a larger learning curve than the experts believe.
I don't think he would be able to handle guys like Embiid or Jokic, but I could def see him playing the 3 or 4. I do think he is to talented to not be a good player, but if he can start scoring at a high volume or adds some muscle he can really take his name to the next level.
where do you think someone with his play style should/could max out with his weight? he's not gonna be able to get an embiid type body. idk shit about weight management in sports. i just think its a very interesting discussion. kinda like fighting, every body type has advantages and disadvantageous, yknow? some better than others, of course.
He is hitting thr weight room some people have a harder time gaining weight than others. Honestly if his 3point shooting maintains he can be stuck at the 4 position with his skillset and play good help with his length
@@TREzyGetPuzze im probably absolutely wrong. i dont have more than a high school understanding of anatomy, but i feel giannis is a bit different. i think his frame may have grown in a way to put on a bit more muscle. someone like KD or Brandon Ingram i think are closer. Giannis is close, but i don't think they could get that frame how he did
@@switzaification Ok. One 7’2 guy (injury rates increase significantly the further players get above 7ft). Has Ayton (bad pick) been hurt a ton? Jarrett Allen? Jaren Jackson? I mean naming an injured tall guy says nothing. Your solution would be only draft 6’7 and below? Saying a player who has never been injured is injury prone is idiocy.
I think Chet will be good in the NBA, I just feel as if the concerns about his frame is a real thing. “THIN TOWERS” … the nickname for the Oklahoma City Thunder duo of Aleksej Pokusevski & Chet Holmgren 😂💪 Poku: 7’0” with guard skills Chet: 7’1” with guard skills Both are only 20 years old 👀
The Magic would be freaking stupid not to take Chet at number#1. To me, he makes more sense to pick because the Magic already have Franz Wagner already at the 4 & Jonathan Isaac (if they decide to keep him or not). Then again, luck having the #1 pick has always been fantastic on the Magic's side, so I ain't too worried about their pick going bust. Shaquille O'neal & Dwight Howard are both number #1 overall picks by the Magic and look how they turned out? This year's draft is a typical Orlando Magic draft where the big men are the best players. Chet still makes the most sense, but we'll see what they do.
Lmao keandre put it right as I was about to say but he really does a great job of keeping the ball in bounds on his rejections. Mobley is the same and look at his impact on their team defense (albeit with JA)
Chet Holmgren defensively reminded me of Tim Duncan. They have the same height and wingspan at 7' and 7'6". Has some flashes o Duncan as well in the half court.
I don't see anyway the thunder can pass on him with his only weakness being his weight.... And he shot 39% from three but before the tourney he was shooting like 44-45% from three on 3.4 attempts a game which is unreal... And before the all-star break they had a top 8 defense in the NBA when dort was healthy you add chet to that mix it's probably a top 5 defense and the offense will get Wayy better to... and they could still add another 7 footer at 12 and play chet at the four with say Jalen duren or mark Williams at the 5... There roster would be the biggest and most athletic in the nba
It's ironic how people think Chet is so "tantalizing" because of his defensive impact yet guys like Rudy Gobert who will eat his lunch are "overrated" and "overpaid."
Spurs need him but he’ll be gone by the time they pick! Patience will be needed by whoever drafts him. The draft is a crapshoot. He could be a superstar or out the league in 5 years m!

Pro is harder because of physicality of the game that what i will say for now
@@mrvk39 don’t ever compare him to KD again.
He is more than just a catch and shoot guy - watching his handle, his first step, his ability to stop and pull up for a shot... the foundation to be a great offensive player is there
10:07 We really drafted this guy at pick #12 ❤
Chet should pay you for this!! Fire content
Great video... Thanks man.
Dudes ceiling is Rudy Gobert with Offense…..insanity. If you can gaurentee me he puts on 25 pounds in the next 4 years I take him 1 no question
As a Rockets fan, I like our selection. However, I have to admit this guy may have the highest ceiling in this class. I am happy to see him joining the team which drafted KD. Good luck.
Mans using NBA street music. Here for it
Orlando!! Let’s get it
Shades of Dolph Schayes. If you never seen film on Schayes, well there's not much, but what I did see he was too quick for bigs and could shoot over smaller players. Also some Paul George in terms of agility and smoothness to his game. Got some Mitchell Robinson in him in terms of blocking shots on the perimeter.
Gotta really think its some kevin mchale there too
It's not like Chet is coming into the league in the 90's.
Big magic man
Do we take paolo who is ready to best player day 1 or do we go with unreal upside and be patient with Chet.
What's the difference between him and Bol Bol?
i think his ceiling his rudy gobert with a bigger offensive package
the next kd
him vs wemby will be legendary
I think the concern about Chet's frame is durability. Guys who come into the league with his type of frame tend to struggle to stay healthy over an 82 game season. Now in most cases as the player adds muscle and core strength the concern goes away, but there are questions about his ability to bulk up and build core strength.
What do you mean? If anything it’s the opposite, guys who are too heavy tend to have injury problems, like Zion for example.
How fast is he supposed to be? He has a 7'6 wingspan
@@lilmixdboy Faster than he is.
@@s0lgewds0lgewd16 🥱
Yea people compare him to Kevin durante but even durante was faster and could create his own shot and pull up in someone's face.
This guy will get stripped before he even dribbles the ball lol
@@MariaMorales-bd3gy I agree, In time tho he might be amazing. Can't wait for the draft tonight.
Just cause he's thin doesn't mean he's made of glass
Best fit would be rockets imho
He's better than I originally thought.
We’ve seen a bit of movement in the lottery recently, are we going to get a second mock draft soon?
I think it would be better for him to be a 4 rather than being a center. Let Sengun be their 5 and maybe they can copy cavs mobley allen duo. All they need is a good playmaker though since they already got 2 young scorers with green and kpj. I just hope he turns out to be a really good player man
He is a pf or he will get BODIED AT THE 5 😂. He is dirk 2.0 with improved shot blocking and handles. Thats it, his ceiling isn’t bad by that measure
As long as he steadily adds some beef to his frame he will be pretty good, not sure about perennial all-star but a solid starting forward for sure
Looks like jaren Jackson
I'll never understand why Chet is a potential number 1 pick but Bol Bol was a second rounder
Bro it makes no sense.
bol had a medical issue
@@donaldperry89 so a foot injury seperates him that much from chet? Even though chef weighs less than bol when he was drafted btw.
@@Dm-tu4wf exactly
he needs to paired up with a complimentary physical player like mahorn or laimbeer or shaq at the 4/5 positions....a weak side floating shot blocker. Or just a SF like durrant??
Ya he's a great shooter OKC can't go wrong with him or jabari I think both will be superstars.
Banchero would be better for okc
Magic got him ;)
I honestly don’t think Orlando or OKC will take a chance on him he’s a high risk pick IMO. He’s a good player but doesn’t have a high ceiling imo
a lot of ppl arent a believer bc his size (jot height wise) but i mean mobley is skinny asf too and was very good last year. would have been roty if he didnt get hurt
@ 11:31 I played too many years with referees calling carries for it just not to be a rule anymore. Not fair to everyone who has played already.
What he is a forward/center? I thought he is a shooting guard
Welcome to OKC⚡️
Reminds me of a modern Pau Gasol
The one thing i dont like is his weight but his determination to fight no matter the weight difference is defiantly something i like to see compared to other skinny guys before
New Nowitzki with better defense ?
I said the same thing😂😂🔥🔥✨💯
I have a feeling none of the “best fits” will be Houston in all of his vids this year 😂😭
Chet has a good Basketball IQ, too.
He’s probably gonna be put at the 4 in the nba
Orlando?
Yessir!
Future impact player
Future thunder legend

@@steveclifford5227 hopefully tbh, i want jabari smith🥲
Teams would be ridiculed constantly for passing on Chet
Love this kids game he is so complete smooth at the 3 point line
I don't think he would be able to handle guys like Embiid or Jokic, but I could def see him playing the 3 or 4. I do think he is to talented to not be a good player, but if he can start scoring at a high volume or adds some muscle he can really take his name to the next level.
He won’t need to score at high volume. Only high efficiency. Stick him on a team with some guards who can find him in his spots and he will shine.
dude needs to just keep pushing that sled
Under 200?! Dude better hit those weights
Once he hits the weight room watch out!!!!
where do you think someone with his play style should/could max out with his weight? he's not gonna be able to get an embiid type body. idk shit about weight management in sports. i just think its a very interesting discussion. kinda like fighting, every body type has advantages and disadvantageous, yknow? some better than others, of course.
He is hitting thr weight room some people have a harder time gaining weight than others. Honestly if his 3point shooting maintains he can be stuck at the 4 position with his skillset and play good help with his length
Giannis body type
@@TREzyGetPuzze when giannis first joined the league
@@TREzyGetPuzze im probably absolutely wrong. i dont have more than a high school understanding of anatomy, but i feel giannis is a bit different. i think his frame may have grown in a way to put on a bit more muscle. someone like KD or Brandon Ingram i think are closer. Giannis is close, but i don't think they could get that frame how he did
Players like him always look good as a teen injury prone by age 23 or 24 never the same player again after that
List all those players please…
Kristaps is an obvious one
@@switzaification Ok. One 7’2 guy (injury rates increase significantly the further players get above 7ft). Has Ayton (bad pick) been hurt a ton? Jarrett Allen? Jaren Jackson? I mean naming an injured tall guy says nothing. Your solution would be only draft 6’7 and below? Saying a player who has never been injured is injury prone is idiocy.
I think Chet will be good in the NBA, I just feel as if the concerns about his frame is a real thing.
“THIN TOWERS” … the nickname for the Oklahoma City Thunder duo of Aleksej Pokusevski & Chet Holmgren 😂💪
Poku: 7’0” with guard skills
Chet: 7’1” with guard skills
Both are only 20 years old 👀
Need him or Paolo on the Blazers sooo bad
@The Mastery CLASS dame is getting traded
I think a better comparison would be Knicks Porzingis. dude just needs to put on a little more muscle then he'd be good
The Magic would be freaking stupid not to take Chet at number#1.
He's a player that would benefit a ton by staying one more year in college and grow more before coming to the nba. He can be special defensively
Given his projection, that’s not going to happen.
I see a 7 foot SG, not a center. Not sure how his game would translate to the NBA, wish him the best though.
Orlando Magic Fans In The House Today?
Chet Holmgren defensively reminded me of Tim Duncan. They have the same height and wingspan at 7' and 7'6". Has some flashes o Duncan as well in the half court.
Watch out for Giddey & Chet 🔥🔥🔥
Another Gonzaga Bust
This will age terribly
@@PostDeathPostDeathPostDeath highly doubt it unless he gains muscle…dude is anorexic
Definitely reminds me of Kevin Durant, less athletic but could develop into something special.
Stop 🤦🏿♂️
I don't see anyway the thunder can pass on him with his only weakness being his weight.... And he shot 39% from three but before the tourney he was shooting like 44-45% from three on 3.4 attempts a game which is unreal... And before the all-star break they had a top 8 defense in the NBA when dort was healthy you add chet to that mix it's probably a top 5 defense and the offense will get Wayy better to... and they could still add another 7 footer at 12 and play chet at the four with say Jalen duren or mark Williams at the 5... There roster would be the biggest and most athletic in the nba
Magic gonna take him unfortunately
It's ironic how people think Chet is so "tantalizing" because of his defensive impact yet guys like Rudy Gobert who will eat his lunch are "overrated" and "overpaid."
Spurs need him but he’ll be gone by the time they pick! Patience will be needed by whoever drafts him. The draft is a crapshoot. He could be a superstar or out the league in 5 years m!
This dude has go go gadget arms.
He BADLY needs to gain 25 pounds. If he can do that, I think he has all of the necessary tools to thrive as a stretch 4 in the NBA.
Imagine sengun and chet together
