    This 97-98 era Jazz team is perhaps one of the most underrated teams of all time. The Bulls had to earn the 97 and 98 Championships. They worked their backsides off for those last 2 rings. Had Reinsdorf kept the Bulls together, they would've won 4 in a row.

      Y’all gotta understand context. It’s relative to his peers in the GOAT conversation. Yes, MJ had Pip & Rodman & a slew of role players. Now compare that to the Bad Boys (4 HoF’ers not including Laimbeer, Aguirre, & Johnson, etc…), Celtics (6 HoF’ers), Lakers (5 HoF’ers), & more.

    What was with Phil always putting Longley on Malone game after game he never learned. Rodman was clearly his kryptonite in this series. Only way Malone could get anything is if he could get on a run quick. In the post couldnt do nothing with Rodman. Best defender ever.

    • @NobodyTouchesJordan
      @NobodyTouchesJordan  9 лет назад +36

      Colton W I don't know if Phil Jackson did this knowingly, but the strategy he and Rodman used was very similar to how Bill Russell and Willis Reed would lock down Wilt Chamberlain.
      Rodman and Russell/Reed would let Malone or Wilt score against weaker defenders, and when they switched, Malone and Wilt would get thrown out of their rhythm.
      My guess is that they didn't want Rodman on Malone or Russell/Reed on Wilt all the time, or else Malone/Wilt could get a feel for their defense and figure them out (which happened to Rodman in Game 5 and 6 of the 1998 Finals)
      I have a one hour documentary that explains how Rodman used this Russell/Reed strategy to dominate Shaq and lock him down throughout their careers. It explains this strategy in more detail. You should check it out if you are interested
      This is the video - "Dennis Rodman Schools and Destroys Shaq (Documentary)"

    Nobody Touches Jordan is it possible for you to show Rodman's defense on Malone for game 5. Although Malone had 37 points majority of them came on Longley, Rodman playing good defense, or free throws. Now there are some points where Rodman committed bad fouls but he played really good defense. This will also serve as a video to show when players playing good defense could still get scored on by great offense adapting to the opposition's defense (in rhythm shooting, changing shot direction mid-air). Additionally if you could do Rodman defense on Malone for 1997 NBA finals and perhaps even (if you could find footage) of Rodman playing defense against other perimeter players beside Magic, Jordan or Bird. Thanks

      If you go to my playlists, I have a full playlist of Rodman's defense and it includes his defense on Magic, Jordan, and Bird. I also made a video
      "Dennis Rodman - Guarding 1 Through 5"
      Which includes Rodman guarding Magic, Bird, Jordan, Drexler, Hakeem, Shaq, Malone, Barkley.
      I might do Rodman's defense on Malone in the 1997 Finals eventually.

    Karl probably could've played better in both finals, but Rodman is such a weapon for the Bulls, damn.
    He Will defend Karl as good as anyone, throw cheap shots, play mind games, provoke Karl constantly. Be a pest. When Karl's shot is not falling, consider Utah's main scoring option contained.... And whenever that happened, the game was over.
    Other than this matchup, the Bulls had a similar Harper/Kerr-Stockton effect where both Bulls point guards merely had to contain, fight, slow down the Jazz little man...
    While both those matchups were sapping massive Energy, the Bulls had Mike who is, oh, only the fuckin GOAT, and Scottie, roamibg free, with Hornacek and Russell opposed to them, obviously completely overwhelmed.
    Plus the Bulls had the best role player in these series, Toni Kukoć, who could turn the game around with his herky jerky moves and a rain of 3s.
    Terrible matchup for the Jazz.
    Indiana Pacers were much better equipped to take out the Bulls, because they sent Dennis off the floor due to matchups. When you can take out an opposing star like that, you re doing a good job. BIRD coached a masterful series and they lost in 7..should've won that game 7.

      ikr 😂, but surprisingly he was very efficient for his height especially in the regular season, he'd definitely have far more success in todays nba since his efficiency would make up for his lack of height and strength.
      Efficiency is very hard to find in small guards usually, only guys like curry are able to shoot +50fg% on good amount of attempts.

    • @tatumvp0
      @tatumvp0 4 года назад +2

      I assume it was so they can save an energized Rodman in the second half for an exhausted Malone so it would be harder for him from feasting against Longley/Wennigton in the first. Also to avoid foul trouble in the first half. This is a similar Bill and Reeds teams would do when faced chamberlain, let him feast, then they’d handle wilt and shut him down. They also did this against Shaq.

    There’s no Michael without Scottie, and that’s not taking away from Jordan as he’s carried the team a time or 2, 1998 game 6 speaks to Jordan’s greatness as Pippen was down and Rodman got killed by Malone, but I’ll go as far as to say the entire 6 rings wouldn’t have happened without Rodman, there I said it. 96 and 97 whatever, but 98 makes for a good argument because Jordan was without Pippen for a while in 98, Rodman was crucial here and Jordan knew it. Either way u wanna look at it he made life easier for MJ and Pippen ON THE COURT, off the court....lol that’s a different story
