Because it hit tracer's hands. The same thing can happen with any character that puts their hands in front, such as hanzo while he's drawing an arrow.

@omega_random_guy2731 well the way to fix that would be to make the projectiles smaller so that they can pass through without touching. You can't have it both ways to be the size of logs and not be blocked off sometimes.
After this bullet size change, i dont wanna see the statement that overwatch is a competitive game ever in any blog or article

The way nobody seems to comprehend the mechanics of hotboxes and how when a character takes up 75% of the screen you don’t have to be very accurate is amazing to me
@nathanwhitaker2929 you say this as if it makes sense for a bullet to go through a face and count as a body shot while the crosshair can be miles away and register a headshot. That should be due to them being closer and as such taking up more of your screen, not the hitboxes being obvious jank.
I fucking refuse to believe they ever tested this shit. No way someone open the game with these changes and went "Yup it's fine and totally competitive ready"
Because bullets in most shooters including overwatch don't actually fire from your gun. This 100% happened pre patch as well. The gun in first person is just a dummy. Third person view shows the real origin of the bullet. The closer you are to the target the more noticeable that discrepancy is.
Literally the first thing I did was jumping into practice range and test all of this stuff. Then I played 2 rounds and decided to play something else instead.
The projectiles didnt feel that different to me ingame the only point where i really noticed it was against hard to hit heroes like tracer and genji
Honestly couldn’t tell the difference with the hp buffs plus the slight self heal. Ppl over reacting as usual

@@skrunklyOwO What I noticed while playing was 1. the projectile size increase and 2. the DPS passive. And just in general the game felt much more slowed down but not in a fun way because even with 2 main healers it wasn't possible to keep the tank even close to full health while also healing the others, providing utility and dealing damage. So the supports basically had to heal bot for the most part which didn't even kept 1 player alive. It felt miserable as dps and support at least. Didn't try tank yet but I expect something similar
It’s the hp, as well as the increased hotboxes. As a support, which got no increased healing, you have to heal 1.4x to 1.6x more just because the is so much more damage and up in the game.
Lol, Symms selfheal is also insane because of her shields + passive.
Tbh after the totally butchered "rework" cut her some slack. The big alt fire hitbox though... xD

I agree with Arrge's take on the changes to Hanzo. It's unironically going to be more annoying to play against him without his one-shot headshot because to be effective in a team fight and capitalize on the DPS passive, you are kind of forced to play Spamzo.
As a tracer i cant even crouch safely anymore. It was such an easy kill even skilled hanzos. Now its near impossible to dodge hs. Like literally i can crouch and itll still hit head from there previous placement

He didnt even try out the most egregious one: Mei primary fire. You can literally be aiming at the building next to Tracer in practice range and it still hits her.
season 9 is so cooked
it's honestly not even that different. Bigger hitboxes, but hitting people still felt about the same, more health but people died in a similar amount of time, overall it doesn't feel that different. Some of the damage break points are different like Ashe not one shotting Tracer, or Hanzo not one shotting anyone (except for Tracer and Widow), but overall they're just minor changes.
in the like 2 games i played since s9 launch i feel like hitscans are way more oppressive than they were last season@@Hietakissa

@Hietakissa if it's not that different then why did they go through all of the trouble to make these changes to have a minimal effect on gameplay? They could have used these resources to develop better stat viewers, or being able to see stats in replays. It's wierd enough that they started with hitboxes bigger than the actual player model but they shouldn't be making them even bigger in my honest opinion.
Haven't played it and I'm glad it hasn't been awful for you but I'm curious. They keep making the game easier when it's supposed to be competitive, those are opposites.

it's because the bullet comes out the of actual 3d model, not the center of your screen - engines blow.
did you notice how that the crosshair was 5 towns over from the hero model and the shot still registered?

@@comd.shepard So you only play Tracer? Just pick Sojurn or anyone else. I don't get how supports are troubling for DPS. I play Tracer myself, sure, Kiriko can be a neusance but if I pick any hero with (now) 250 hp Kiriko won't do shit and is an easy kill. Plenty of heroes can 1 shot Tracer and it somehow makes Kiriko a problem.
How does Blizz do it... they keep ruining their game more and more with every patch

if they really need to do this for a casual audience just adding +0.05 across the board was good enough... giving the biggest up to the biggest hitbox seems soo dumb.
Most of the player base is casual so it makes sense. Bigger audience, and not a lot of people want to play competitive.
@EchoAccord the thing is even the casuals hate this. They know their newfound "skill" isn't earned and it doesn't feel rewarding.
I think people are overreacting tbh, + not every casual has great aim/have the time to train, They just play the game for fun after work or whenever they get free time.

And thats exactly what i mean by overreacting, It's not like they made the game super easy or anything because you still need to aim well (on top of that you need map knowledge, positioning, team work and knowing when to use your CDs) it's just slightly easier to hit targets, which benefits everyone, I actually noticed the HP increase way more than the hitboxes to be fair (unless its Hanzo)
This patch is so cursed. The fact that I’m resorting to playing cod.. I haven’t played cod in 5+ YEARS

I’m pretty sure rammatra punches were always that big. Probably even big enough to be in the list of things that weren’t changed. You could even hit people around corners because the collision hitbox is a dot, but the damage hitbox is bigger. If it is actually bigger, it’s not by a lot

As a pharah main, ive been saying since OW1 that pharah would be CRACKED with horizontal movement and faster rockets. The reason being she can more reliably peek around corners / over walls with the quick lateral escape option. With a mercy pocket, Pharah is S tier now in OW2
Sadly people are going to cry to nerf her even though she is fine, at this point Mercy is to blame for every overpowered duo and she needs a rework.

as an echo player this season is an absolute w so far the stickies are so easy to land
To be fair, honzo was always had big projectiles
idk how it would work in practice, if they made the projectile grow respectively over distance; would it not solve lowering the skill cap slightly whilst avoiding over-tuning the close range accuracy
When Orisa popped up for a second I felt like I had a canon event and thought she had a right click ability that pulled people to the designated location of a projectile.

Why not play ashe? Better range + she has dynamite. Also, isn''t tracer's range pretty shit with her guns? I feel like if she can consistently apply damage then she's practically diving/open for retaliation at that point.
@@107frenchy a lot of downtime on Ashes reload and it's relatively easy to break LoS against her
Tracer will really benefit from the passive because there's quite often downtime where you're waiting for cooldowns or aren't safe to engage and all you're really able to do is spam your weapons at mid-long range to get that tiny bit of ult charge or stop support passive from kicking in and this passive will bring a lot of value to those moments

Overwatch's hitboxes have always been generous to balance the crazy strafe acceleration and lack of accuracy decrease during/after moving (vs Valorant/CS). But this is just ridiculous, reducing the reward for good aim.

Looking at that close range Mercy hitbox: I think it's totally ok for a Mercy rework to have her fire on her right click and shift her in a way to have some offense. That close range hitbox + her movement would make it actually really fun to for example contest high ground / chase down low hp targets and then bail out again with guardian angel. Also screw Mercy players that want to keep her 100% support / devoid of any aiming no matter how bad it is for the game.

These have been the absolute most frustratingly terrible placement matches I have ever played in 7 years of OW. Every single fucking match I have over performed but the predicted rank doesn’t change and each team just instantly overextends and kills themselves
Tell me about that, almost every team I had was all over the map. We had a flanking doom as king for healing when he’s being piled on by their supports in the backline and flaming us on top of it.
I had a Dva who didn't use thrusters once first game I played. I'm in high plat so not very good but standing still and not shifting is just messed up.

@@curtman1374 correction. you "were" in high plat. with the rank resets you were probably being matched with silver/bronze players as well. one of the reasons it might be better to wait until a bit later in the season for placements if you weren't gm in the past
Your mmr stays the same, my predicted rank was dia3 after my first game and i was still playing against gm1/t500 players

The thing with headshotting tracer up close is that the Tracer should definitely be killing you in this situation
Being playing OW since the og release back on 2016. The only reason I bought a PC. This was the goty that year. Even with the broken promises and weird changes I kept playing it. But this is too much. As someone said, this is more arca-dy. You basically no need aim anymore. No need to look for health packs. You don't need positioning anymore since anyone can jump on you and shoot anywhere and kill you.
The magic of overwatch WAS that it was easy to play, but hard to master. Now this is is just a mess. RIP OW, after almost 8 years you are the game I played the most. On the bright side I will be able to start playing other games :)
And I think they're right. These 8 years I've only spent the retail price for OW1 and 1 dollar on a loot box. They need to bring an audience that is not like me.
Hitboxes look nuts in practice range but I wonder if we’ll find them generous but not so insane in motion 🤔 a lot of Overwatch gameplay is fast moving. Hitting a good Tracer can be damn near impossible so I kind of get what they were trying to do here just probably needs some refinement

Blizzard makes games for casuals. They don’t want players that are ass to not have a good time.
A lot of the positive feedback comes from people saying it is easier to land shots or do this and that.
It is rewarding to hit your shots because your aim is good, not because the hit boxes are the size of a bus
