Does the US DOJ at any point, substantiate their reasoning behind their belief that Khudainatov doesn't own the 3 or 4 super yachts. I appreciate they've said he can't because he's not wealthy enough but opinion is not factual. It's all a bit like the fiasco surrounding Phi in Canary Wharf - (we think you're a naughty boy so we'll take your toys, but we can't prove anything)
Agreed. No actual legal basis (at least for the American government) to seize assets from people just because they're Russian. Wholly unlawful, unconstitutional, politically motivated scam.
I ride by the Amadea yacht every day in my tender. Never gets old. Says “Fort Lauderdale” on the stern. (Edit spelling, added last sentence)
You are filming this from a far nicer place than where I am right now let me tell you that mate. The weather is also much nicer!
I have no proof about who owns any of these yachts but the US government can only confiscate private property if a court orders it after proof beyond doubt of a violation of US law. The burden of proof is on the government just as it is in Cuba if they confiscate private property. You questioned the lawyer’s multiple responses about currency and ownership, but this is standard legalese. Lawyers say A is false but if you prove that A is true, then B is false. If B is true then C is false. This is to prove that the claimed owner is actually the owner in all cases. I agree that this may be a straw owner well hidden but the government must prove its suspicions. Throughout the world there are crooked governments who claim illegality in order to confiscate private property. The Western governments must all be held to an actual legal standard. This is why the UK seizure of Phi is so despicable as well.
My Sign Shop could make good $ on all these vessels. Just logos for lawyers, builders, shell companies, service industry, staffing agents... you name it.
I vould live in the Maldives and make one logo per week.

Just so you know, the yacht wanted to be in America's Finest City, San Diego, because it's so nice. So take up all objections with the actual yacht... If you are going to be stuck somewhere, I vote to be stuck in San Diego.

There's certainly funny-money going on, as the transfer of assets within a Group can happen with the creation of an intercompany loan for the value, but only if both are entirely owned by the same holding company: otherwise differences in valuation must go to profits and be taxable.

Nice boat will admit, but would never like to own a superyacht even if it was literally given to me. Maintenance, running the boat and mooring it would be my headache but would not mind a cruise on one
If you own one of these somebody else looks after all that, you just arrive and use it when you see fit.
