The best tip that ever helped me was learn the scale sooo well jus goin up and down. Then jus make random patterns like skip 1 note then the other. As long as u r in the scale. If ur fingers get releee comfortable moving thru the scale u can literally play anything. Take the c jazz scale and go up and down until it becomes like 2nd nature no thinking
The name/title of this video should really be "How to LEARN to solo fast" not "How to solo fast"...Because I was hoping it was about how to play rippin' very up-tempo fast phrases...it's syntax! More importantly, thank's once again for being such an inspiration, educator and torch bearer of the genre and sharing your gifts. And for anyone that want to learn not only a lot more about how to play Gypsy Jazz but about the culture, history and great players I HIGHLY recommend subscribing to Gypsy Jazz Secrets Magazine...It has a ton of video lessons, Djams and great articles and interviews...a must have. Thanks Robin.
This was very helpful! I have the Le Pompe down but The rest stroke is my next hurdle. Im grateful to people like you for giving great tips and keeping the Django tradition alive. We are keeping it going in Chicago! My buddy owns Caravan Guitars located d-town Chicago. Its the Only Gypsy Jazz Shop in the Midwest- we are trying to take over the blues scene but its not easy! Lol Thanks again!
Haha yeah good luck in Chicago LOL! I know Caravan Guitars - great shop. Stay inspired mate and let me know if you have any questions about playing guitar. All the best! 😃 Robin
Hate to be a dork, but what is that guitar you're playing? It looks to be a Dupont. Yes? Which? Your tone is perfect. It's round, woody, but still has that bark. Wegen? I'm sure technique has a lot to do with it, too. But, I've listened to other videos and they have different sound. Sorry for gear question. Love your vids.
Get the Real Book and start learning the jazz standards. Gypsy jazz is a stylistic approach to playing jazz, but the style can be broadly used through out many other genres.
Edis It's really a personal preference but for stylistic inspiration I study a lot of gypsy folk music from different regions of Eastern Europe(mainly my homeland Hungary) to get a bit of that flavour in my playing. Id recommend bands like Ando Drom, Parno Graszt or the Szászcsávás band
@@GypsyJazzSecrets Robin! Just wanted you to know, i've learned a LOT from you and you helped me a great deal with understanding gypsy jazz! I'm playing gypsy jazz busking in various cityes, and people are very content but I'll keep on improving even more! Always. I'm in love with Gypsy Jazz to say at least 😁 Thank you for making these superb videos, they are a treasure! Cheers from Croatia! 🇭🇷 😁
You probably can solo pretty good, but you have no idea how much not knowing chords is holding you back! So much untapped potential should make you pretty excited to dive in and learn. I wish you well on your journey. Start learning chords for tunes you like. Then learn new ways to play them. Jazz is good for that.
Great as always!
Stay inspired there’s lots of useful lessons on my channel! 🙏🎸❤️Robin
Very clear and informative as always Robin! Great stuff.
Awesome lesson, Robin! Thank you!
Glad it helps Morris! Robin

ha ha Steve true - how's it going with shredding?
Many thanks for posting this! You offer the best advice, "be playful and creative"! :)
Well done Rob! That makes sense and i believe is a commonality with learning any new vernacular where improvisation is paramount.
Nice one, Robin. Crisp and clear - as are all your instructional videos.
Great lesson and useful, practical tips.
Brilliant advices! Thanks for the great and insightful videos!
Regards, R.
Stay inspired mate! 😃 Robin

Thanks- i just realized we are friends on Facebook! LOL (I go by Dino Gonzo on FB). I will be in touch- cheers:)
Ahhh cool Dino 😃
Simple and effective!
I guess if Robin uses a loop station it would be better. For example around 4:16
I noticed you aren't muting the strings from sounding out after you have played them. Is that part of the whole gypsy jazz thing?
What a kind of strings you gonna use
Sanny Maier Argentine strings made by Savarez, the best!
Thank. You so much :) do you speak german 😂

Hi Jon - That's a Leo Eimers 'Antique Model' - lovely guitar. Leo builds very nice axes! R
None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm.
I didn't know you'd met me!?
Hi Robin, picking up a load of great tips from you! what is the fingering for that C chord you play at 1.41?
Pinky on the C. 3rd on the G , 1st on the E and 2nd on the A. It's a really cool crunchy chord which sounds great in C and D. - got it? Cheers Robin
the tune is 'All Of Me' Conor - cheers
what's the name of this kind of guitar?
petite trout
"Selmer guitar". Real Selmer's are priceless tho so the rest are replicas!
petite bouche ;)
I got two of these
anyone recommend a good place where i can find gypsy jazz standards tabs ???

Edis but yea get a Realbook and look around youtube
what tune is he talking about at 1:06
Not bad, but you need to figure out how to mute the ghost notes and it should help a bit!
Good luck!
Thx Eric! 😃Robin
Florist. Rock ledge, fl. 32955
Synyster Gates??
5:20 For God sake, make sure you go from G to G# when going from C to E7. That's basically jazz explained in one sentence. Cheers!
Agreed! Cheers, Robin 😅

Friday Alibi haha get into the chords they are great!
@@GypsyJazzSecrets yes I should, do you have a video on the chords? That would be great
