Actually, Mariska would win her second Emmy in 2019, this time for Best Documentary (I Am Evidence).
to be fair SVU hasn't been the same since after season 12 when it lost the original core cast, especially Chris Meloni. But that said Mariska and Ice T have carried that show since then.

Mickey sadly passed away september 14 of 2006, 17 days after this ceremony and 2.5 months after the birth of her son.
According to Mariska's E! True Hollywood Story, the same day August was born, Mickey was admitted to the same hospital Mariska was in but he was diagnosed with cancer.
He also had a cameo with her in an SVU episode

While I do agree that Conroy's performance overall is stronger than Hargitay's, you have to remember that it's all about episode submissions. 2006 was the year of that INCREDIBLE episode where Olivia talked to the little girl who was being used for child pornography. It was practically made to win awards.

Allison Janney is awesome in my book too, but Mariska TOTALLY deserves this! She is amazing and honestly, she should have about a dozen more emmys.
She should have won this award 10 times over since then, but I'm glad the franchise, as a whole, was recognized for its AMAZING actors throughout the 30+ years. Kinda shocking it took this long for a single actor to be recognized!

"911" is one of my favorite SVU episodes. that and "undercover"! M.H. is one of my TV idols and i respect her a lot for the work she's done with Joyful Heart :] she deserves every award she gets!
I just love her! Excellent speech. I think what gets me the most is that her father was able to see her win this. You know he was proud! I love that Chris was there and how she reached for him before she even stood up.
They are all great actresses. Mariska was very deserving of this! I could watch this over and over again. Makes me teary and I love her just a little more each time.

The most beautiful actress I have seen ina long time. I wish that they would show more of her getting angry in her episodes. Those are the best ones, I love seeing her husband doing cameos in the episodes. Its so adorable. Her son August(beautiful name) is handsome looks like his dad but has his mother's hair.

ABOUT TIME! Should have had one a long time ago. So should Chris. The show is one of the best. Award shows are a joke. Its not whos the best, its who you know. I stopped watching a long time ago . What was the point. My favorites never won, and they were some of the best.

She has been nominated for eight years in a row now (from 2004 til 2011) and just won once. How could that? Her performance is really great. Just because SVU: Law and Order is a long-running series they couldn't just over-look her every year (paraphrasing xFabalax).
She rocks. I am just now getting into Law & Order. I ordered the original L&O (Season 1 from 1990) off of Amazon. Can't wait!
