- Video taken by a drone shows the extent of damage from flash flooding in Palm Springs and Cathedral City after Tropical Storm Hilary swept through southern California, the first tropical storm to hit the area in 84 years.
So far no deaths, serious injuries or extreme damage has been reported in California though officials warn that risks remain, especially in the mountainous regions where wet hillsides could unleash mudslides.
Rescue officials in Cathedral City, drove bulldozers through the mud-swamped streets to rescue residents trapped by the floodwaters.
Some 46 rescues were performed in the city between late Sunday night and Monday afternoon as mud and water reached up to 1.5 metres in some areas.

That's not a bulldozer.
Wheel Loader.
What is all this mud going to go??? These poor people!!! 😔 🇨🇦
Weather warfare yet again.
The irony of democrat California being hit by Hilary Clinton.
Who picks the names anyway? A republican weather man? That wouldn’t be ironic.
5 will get you 10 seepage will cause ground swelling and fault movement.
How very inconvenient that many lost possessions and had some damage to property. But hasn't anyone seen what kind of flooding is going on in the rest of the world? This is like a spring rain compared to the flooding in other parts of the world where people are dying by the thousands from massive flooding and subsequent landslides. These people's cars were mostly all drivable. Most flooding around the world carry away cars like matchbox toys.
I went to check on 2 friends and they're less than 1/2 Mike from my house! I run past them at night when wheny run and visit! 😢So I seen a few hours shoveling mud after sinking up to my knees in it! It's awful but the backhoes were great! I just wish they also took the mud off the yards! They're like 3' above the sidewalk!😢 More tomorrow!

That's a massive mudslide, and get as high as you can! Grateful for the first responders and bulldozers who helped them.
